Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Sunday said that 22 more deceased in the AI 171 plane crash in Ahmedabad have had their DNA samples matched. With this he said that a total of 42 deceased in the tragedy have been identified so far through DNA sampling."Update as of 1.00 pm- From 9 PM last night to 1 PM today, our teams have worked tirelessly to match DNA samples. Today, at around 11:10 AM, his DNA has matched. He worked for the people of the state for several years..,"The state Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) unit and the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) team are working through the night to match more DNA samples.According to Director of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), HP Sanghavi, DNA examination is critically needed to identify the victims of the tragic crash, citing that the extreme heat from the blaze that erupted after the crash had made the traditional method of identification ineffective.On Saturday, Ahmedabad Additional Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital Dr Rajnish Patel said a total of 31 DNAs have been identified and 12 bodies have been handed over to their respective family members."The bodies of 31 DNAs have been matched. 12 bodies have been handed over to their respective family members. We are waiting for others to come and collect the remains of their relatives", he told reporters.Air India has announced that an interim financial assistance package of Rs 25 lakh (approximately GBP 21,000) will be provided to the "families of the deceased and to the survivor" of the tragic crash after the plane rammed into a doctors' hostel in the Meghani Nagar area in Gujarat's Ahmedabad shortly after it took off from Sardar Vallabhai Patel International Airport on Thursday. In a post on X, the Tata-owned airline stated that the package was in addition to the Rs 1 crore support already announced by Tata Sons.On Thursday, the Air India flight AI171 was en route to London from Ahmedabad when it crashed shortly after takeoff from the airport, ramming into a doctors' hostel of BJ Medical College in Gujarat's Ahmedabad.There were 242 people on board the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, including 230 passengers and 12 crew members. Of the passengers, 241 died in the crash. The lone survivor, identified as Vishwashkumar Ramesh, a British national of Indian origin, sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment.

KTR appears before ACB again in Formula-E Racing fund misuse case
Hyderabad, June 16 (UNI) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K T Rama Rao (KTR) appeared before the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Monday in connection with the ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities related to the Formula-E car racing event. The hearing began at 1000 hours at the ACB office in Banjara Hills. KTR arrived at Telangana Bhavan by 0900 hours and later proceeded to the ACB office accompanied by his legal counsel, Ramachandra Rao. The ACB had issued a summons to him on June 13. This marks KTR's second appearance before the ACB in the case. He was previously questioned for nearly six and a half hours on January 9. The case pertains to the alleged misappropriation of government funds during the BRS regime to support the Formula-E race in Hyderabad. Posting on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, KTR said, 'I have been summoned by the ACB to appear for investigation on Monday at 1000 hours in the Formula-E race case, where Rs 44 crore was transferred from bank to bank, and the money is very much in the account of FE. As a law-abiding citizen, I will attend and fully cooperate with the ACB officials.' According to the FIR filed by the ACB, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) allegedly transferred funds amounting to Rs 44 crore to London-based Formula E Operations (FEO) in violation of established procedures. The payment was reportedly made as the state's share for sponsoring the second edition of the Formula-E race in Hyderabad. While the first edition in early 2023 was sponsored by the private firm Ace Nxt Gen, the company is said to have declined to support the second edition. Subsequently, KTR, who was then Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD), allegedly directed senior officials to ensure that HMDA covered the costs. ACB officials claim that this was done without following due process. The ACB has already questioned several key individuals, including former MAUD Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar, and representatives from Ace Nxt Gen and FEO. Meanwhile, the BRS has strongly criticised the investigation, calling it politically motivated. Party leaders have demanded a fair and transparent probe, alleging that the case is being used as a tool for a political vendetta. Through a post on the social media platform X, KTR expressed strong displeasure against the Congress government. He stated that the ongoing enquiries, commissions, and what he described as political harassment by the Congress party would not deter them. KTR affirmed that these actions would not stop the BRS from exposing the government's alleged failure in implementing the promised six guarantees. He further accused the Congress of deceiving the public with what he termed "420 promises and declarations," and asserted that no matter how many conspiracies are hatched, they will not succeed in silencing the BRS. Khammam: Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy inaugurated the Eruvaka programme at Kusumanchi Mandal Centre as part of his visit to Palair constituency on Sunday. 'By the grace of God, the southwest monsoon greeted us fifteen days early this year. The agricultural season has also begun,' said the minister. 'The government has made plans to catch every drop of water. I wish that all the farmers in the state are happy and contented.' Adding a note on the government's schemes for farmers, he lauded the Indiramma government for encouraging farmers and improving their financial situation. 'For agriculture, we will give Rs 12,000 for investment for every eligible acre from tomorrow. On behalf of the people of the state, we thank the Chief Minister,' assured Ponguleti. 'The government is working with all sincerity to implement the promises made to the farmers. Plans have been prepared to supply quality seeds and fertilisers without any problems,' he said. 'Even after the collapse of Kaleshwaram, we are the first state in the country in terms of grain production. Cong neglecting devpt in Narayanpet: Ex MLA
Mahabubnagar: Former BRS MLA Rajender Reddy launched a scathing attack on the ruling leaders during a press conference held in Narayanpet, criticizing the local MLA Dr Parnika Reddy and Mahabubnagar MP DK Aruna for failing to deliver on key development promises in the region. Reddy accused the local MLA of falsely claiming credit for the sanctioning of the medical college in Narayanpet. 'The college was approved during the previous government's tenure. Taking credit now is misleading,' he said. He also demanded that the old hospital building be cleaned, renovated, and used to continue medical services in the town. Highlighting pending projects, he said that proposals for a 250-bed Women and Child Hospital were already submitted and should be executed in the existing hospital premises. He criticized the current leadership for claiming achievements they never actually delivered. 'Don't boast about work you haven't done,' he remarked sharply. Reddy expressed disappointment that several projects sanctioned during his term have been stalled, including the construction of a guest house for which Rs 4 crore was approved. 'Instead of building it in Narayanpet, it was shifted to Kodangal, and no one is questioning this,' he added. He also questioned the performance of the local MP, who holds a significant position in the BJP. 'Why hasn't a Sainik School been sanctioned for Narayanpet despite her influence?' Reddy asked. Rajender Reddy challenged the current leaders to list out what they have truly achieved in their 18 months of governance, stating that the people of Narayanpet deserve answers and real development.
