Eric Adams isn't high on the smell of marijuana ‘everywhere' in NYC: ‘I think it should be relegated to certain areas'
Mayor Eric Adams is burning Albany for marijuana legalization bringing the sticky-icky smell of weed 'everywhere' in New York City.
'I think it should be relegated to certain areas that you could smoke marijuana, not throughout the entire street, because you do smell it everywhere,' Adams told The Post's Miranda Devine on the latest episode of 'Pod Force One.'

'I think that's one of the negative impacts of our cannabis law that the state government passed.'
Smoking marijuana is legal in most places where New Yorkers can smoke or vape tobacco, with some further exceptions for inside motor vehicles, restaurants, federal property and most public parks, under the state's recreational cannabis law passed in 2021.

Adams' public pot puffing pooh-poohing came as he argued that tackling quality-of-life issues such as street homelessness and public urination will make New Yorkers feel safer.

A revival of 'broken windows' policing and cracking down on disorder has been a major plank of Adams' public safety policy, which he has been touting during his re-election battle as an independent.
But his comments about constant wafting weed smell contrast with the mayor's enthusiastic embrace of the legal cannabis industry.
As recently as Saturday, the mayor visited a legal weed festival in Harlem and declared he wants the Big Apple to be the 'cannabis capital of the globe,' AMNY reported.
Hizzoner also laughed off a record-breaking surge of odor complaints during the summer of 2022 by saying it wasn't sun-ripened garbage that he was smelling.

'The No. 1 thing I smell right now is pot. It's like everybody's smoking a joint now,' Adams said at the time, chuckling.
'You know, everybody has a joint.'
Adams — who launched a sweeping crackdown on illegal pot shops to help protect the burgeoning legal weed industry — also showed he's not adverse to whiffing reefer.

He drew laughs last year when he took a big, seemingly admiring sniff of a bag stuffed with illegal weed, moments before it was incinerated.
But lest the city's potheads think Adams is Tommy Chong-ing it in Gracie Mansion, he has claimed to not partake.
'No, I don't smoke,' he told The Daily Show in 2023, although he jokingly copped to getting it secondhand.
5 Marijuana can be smoked publicly most places that tobacco can be, under the state's legal cannabis law.

'All you got to do is walk down the block. Secondhand is everywhere now.'
Adams added he didn't want children smoking marijuana on the way to school or eating cannabis 'gummy bears and other bulls–t.'
His concern for children taking drugs goes way back — as his infamous, much-mocked PSA from 2011 proves.
'Something simple as a baby doll' could be a place to 'secrete, or hide' drugs, Adams warned parents in the video, demonstrating with a giant bag of presumably fake weed.

ICE offering six-figure salaries and $50K bonuses as it ramps up hiring to fuel deportations
ICE is on a hiring spree with the tsunami of new cash from President Trump's Big Beautiful Bill — and some top recruits are getting $50,000 signing bonuses and six-figure salaries as the agency ramps up its mass deportation effort. The most lucrative payouts are going to retired agents — who are returning to work in droves to take advantage of the new incentives, many of them tell The Post. New recruits can expect to make a fair bit less —between $50,000 to $90,000 per year in base base. The agency is looking to hire 10,000 new agents with the flood of $75 billion in extra funding to carry out Trump's mass deportation effort. 3 Federal officers in tactical gear wait in a hallway outside a New York courtroom. AFP via Getty Images 'They're begging to come back because they believe in securing America, protecting kids, and supporting an undermanned force stretched thin by the prior administration's border chaos,' said Scott Mechkowski, the former assistant ICE chief for New York. One retired agent, who requested anonymity due to his pending application to return to ICE, told The Post he knows 'about four or five' other ex-feds 'that put in' for the opportunity to return to the force with salaries over $100,000 per year. Homeland Security agents — especially with Border Patrol — quit en mass during the Biden administration because they were so fed up with policies that allowed illegal migrants to pour into the US. Now, many are coming back to work. 'It's a great opportunity to get back into the mix and because a lot of us ended our career and we still felt like we had a lot more left,' the ex-agent said. 3 Retired officers and agents say they're ready to return to the force after the Trump administration increased recruitment bonuses. AFP via Getty Images ICE is offering a signing bonus of $10,000 upon returning to service; another $10,000 bonus for those who apply by Aug. 1; and annual $10,000 bonuses, for up to three years, for those who take part in Operation Return to Service. The agency has also said it will offer 'dual compensation waivers,' allowing former feds to retain pension payments and benefits if they come out of retirement. 3 ICE is seeking to recruit 10,000 new officers and agents with the passage of Trump's massive funding bill. Paul Weaver/SOPA Images/Shutterstock The surge of new officers and agents will help the agents meet the administration's ambitious 3,000-per-day arrest quota has filled detention centers to the brim. 'If you hire enough people to get back, then you can have people to do the investigations. Because right now you're robbing Peter to pay Paul by taking everybody off their own investigations,' said the retired agent. 'My biggest concern about the whole immigration push and using all the agencies and having everybody doing work in six days a week is you're going to have burnout,' he added.

Multiple families were sent the wrong bodies after Air India disaster: report
Families of UK residents killed in last month's Air India disaster have been sent the wrong bodies in repatriation blunders. The Daily Mail reports that at least two cases of mistaken identity had come to light, with one family having to abandon a funeral after being informed their coffin contained an unknown body. In another case, a coffin contained 'co-mingled' remains of more than one person killed in the flight 171 crash at Ahmedabad in western India on June 12. The scandal has sparked top-level inquiries in both the UK and India, the Mail reports, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to raise concerns with counterpart Narendra Modi this week. 5 Basit Zargar/ZUMA Press Wire / There were 52 British citizens killed among the 261 people who died after the plane lost power and crashed into a residential area soon after it lifted off to fly to London. All but one of the 242 people on board died as well as 19 people on the ground. Aviation lawyer James Healy-Pratt has been engaged to represent UK-based people impacted by the tragedy, with the remains of 12 people repatriated so far. 'I've been sitting down in the homes of these lovely British families over the last month, and the first thing they want is their loved ones back,' he told the Mail. 'But some of them have got the wrong remains and they are clearly distraught over this. 5 Getty Images 'It has been going on for a couple of weeks (and) I think these families deserve an explanation.' Healy-Pratt said the family which had received the wrong body had been left 'in limbo' since the devastating discovery was made. '(They) have no one to bury because it was the wrong person in their casket. 'And if isn't their relative, the question is, who is it in that coffin? Presumably it's another passenger and their relatives have been given the wrong remains. 'The coroner also has a problem because she has an unidentified person in her jurisdiction.' Investigations continue into how the disaster unfolded, with mounting attention on the actions of lead pilot Captain Sumeet Sabharwal. 5 AFP via Getty Images Some experts who have reviewed the initial report from India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) believe a pilot on turned off two switches controlling fuel flow to the plane's engines. The first was moved three seconds after lift off and the other one second later, the AAIB report found, before being turned back on a further 10 seconds later. Fingers have been pointed at Captain Sabharwal because his younger co-pilot, Clive Kunder, would have had his 'hands full' while flying the plane. Air India's inspection of the locking feature on the fuel control switches of its existing Boeing 787 aircraft found no issues, an internal communication circulated within the airline said on July 17. 5 AFP via Getty Images India's aviation regulator ordered the country's airlines this week to investigate the locking feature on the switches of several Boeing models. The order came after Boeing notified operators that the fuel switch locks on its jets were safe. However, it was in line with a Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) issued by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in 2018, which recommended inspection of the locks to ensure they could not be moved accidentally. Air India's probe found no problems with the locking mechanism. 5 Saurabh Sirohiya/NurPhoto/Shutterstock 'Over the weekend, our Engineering team initiated precautionary inspections on the locking mechanism of Fuel Control Switch (FCS) on all our Boeing 787 aircraft,' the airline's flight operations department said in a communication to its pilots. 'The inspections have been completed and no issues were found.' A spokesperson for the UK government told the Mail formal identification of the bodies was a 'matter for the Indian authorities'. 'We understand that this is an extremely distressing time for the families, and our thoughts remain with them,' they said.

AI bots deliver garbage based on Wikipedia
Here's alarming news: AI bots rely heavily on Wikipedia, which feed them a diet of half-truths, ideological bias and leftist lies — and then pass along the propaganda to millions of unsuspecting readers. A new study from Axios reveals that ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude — three of the most popular AI bots — use Wikipedia extensively for training their Large Language Models. Yet 'Wokepedia,' the user-maintained online encyclopedia, is so slanted to the left, it's in danger of tipping over. Advertisement The result is the public gets a perversely skewed view of the world. Indeed, Wikipedia actually keeps a blacklist of sources editors can't cite. Want to guess which outlets are redlined as 'unreliable'? That's right: conservative sources like Fox News, the Daily Wire, the Daily Caller and even The Post. Advertisement Which get the green light? Leftist outlets like AP, Vox, The Guardian, The Nation and — hold on while we spit out our tea — MSNBC. All the outlets, that is, that promoted the Russia hoax, blamed Trump for COVID and dismissed The Post's 100% accurate Hunter Biden-laptop story Russian disinfo. Yet the biased material Wikipedia spreads is used to train AI bots to answer billions of questions from people outsourcing their minds to Big Tech, misinforming millions. Advertisement AI's leftist bias is obvious to anyone who asks it questions about, say, January 6, gun control or some other hot-button issue. But don't take our word for it. The British Centre for Policy Studies also found consistent bias, especially on housing, free-speech and energy issues. Even AI bots themselves will tell you they have a leftist bias. Part of the problem is that the culture of Silicon Valley skews left. Advertisement The techies designing the AI algorithms are more liberal than the average American, so their bias works its way through the system. 'Garbage in, garbage out' is an old saying in computer programming. Meaning, computers are dumb. They process what we give them. If LLMs keep feeding off the same biased sources, then future content will reflect that bias, and continue to feed LLMs in a recursive loop. We will be stuck in a conceptual world that has no outside reference. Get opinions and commentary from our columnists Subscribe to our daily Post Opinion newsletter! Thanks for signing up! AI companies will need to feed their LLMs a balanced diet of information or risk losing federal contracts. But the companies should be look to reform voluntarily, if they care about their credibility. If they insist on using lefty sources like Wikipedia, the least they can do is provide a warning with every answer they supply.
