T-Pain dropped a throwback video showing the first time he came up with one of his most famous lines—when he rhymed 'mansion' with 'Wiscansin.'
The line comes from his 2008 hit 'Can't Believe It' featuring Lil Wayne. If you've ever said 'Wiscansin' instead of 'Wisconsin,' this is where it all started.
In the video, T-Pain's in the studio recording and says, 'I can put you in a mansion, somewhere in Wiscansin.' Right after, he turns to his friends and asks, 'That's how they say that in Wisconsin right?' Everyone starts laughing, and you can tell they knew the line was going to stick. That one rhyme turned into a whole thing. Teddy Pain ended up naming a tour 'Wiscansin University' and even dropped merch with the made-up school name.
The song 'Can't Believe It,' where T-Pain says the made-up word 'Wiscansin,' is from his 2008 album Three Ringz . The track features Lil Wayne and became one of the album's biggest hits. Three Ringz is T-Pain's third studio album and has a circus theme, with skits and interludes tying it all together. Other songs on the album include 'Freeze' with Chris Brown, 'Chopped 'n' Skrewed' with Ludacris, and 'Karaoke.'
The album blends R&B, hip-hop, and Auto-Tune-heavy vocals that T-Pain is known for. Three Ringz was nominated for Best Contemporary R&B Album at the 2010 Grammy Awards.
This vintage footage shows how Pain didn't overthink it—he just had fun and let it flow. Sometimes the lines that hit the hardest come out of nowhere. Now fans finally get to see the exact moment the line that made everyone say 'Wiscansin' was created.
Check out some of the reactions to the rare footage below.

Escaped Inmate Asks Lil Wayne, NBA YoungBoy, Meek Mill for Help

One of the inmates still on the lam after the recent jailbreak in New Orleans has put out a plea for help directed at Lil Wayne, Meek Mill, and NBA YoungBoy. Antoine Massey is one of two men who remains at large after escaping a New Orleans jail last month. Earlier this week, he appeared to post a nearly 10-minute video statement to Instagram, denying he came up with the plan for the jailbreak ('I didn't break out, I was let out'), proclaiming his innocence (he's facing charges of domestic violence), and asking for help. And because there's never a wrong time to shoot your shot, Massey also asked President Donald Trump for assistance. (Trump previously granted a pardon to Lil Wayne, and he just gave clemency to NBA YoungBoy.) 'I'm asking please for help — YoungBoy, Meek Mills,' Massey said. 'People that been through the system that know it's corrupt. Lil Wayne, Donald Trump. When I get back in custody, I'm asking y'all, please come help.' Reps for Wayne, Mill, and NBA YoungBoy did not immediately return requests for comment. The video featuring Massey was posted on June 1, and authorities found it credible enough that they carried out a search of a home where they believed the video was recorded, per The Associated Press. Authorities zeroed in on the location after being tipped off by relatives who recognized the residence, but Massey was not there when the police arrived. Officials did, however, say they found the clothes they think Massey was wearing in the clip. Massey was one of 10 people who escaped the New Orleans jail, fleeing through a hole that was carved out behind a toilet and then climbing over a wall. (The guard assigned to their cell pod was reportedly getting food at the time of the breakout.) Eight of the inmates who fled the jail have since been taken back into custody; along with Massey, the only inmate still at large is Derrick Groves, who was convicted of killing two people last fall.
