MacKenzie Scott's Instagram Comments Are Dragging Her Into the Jeff Bezos Wedding Drama

Yahoo02-07-2025
It's a good day to be MacKenzie Scott as criticisms of her ex-husband Jeff Bezos and his opulent wedding have spun into a wave of support for her philanthropy.
Scott did not attend Bezos' star-studded wedding to his second wife, Lauren Sánchez, on June 27. Nor has she publicly commented on the event, which ignited protests in Venice as the Amazon founder and his guests descended upon the Italian city. However, that hasn't stopped her from being associated with the controversial nuptials.

The notoriously private author has only one post on her verified Instagram account, a photo of herself, which was shared in October 2020 with no caption. Yet, her comments section has erupted as social media users, some real, some fake, flock to acknowledge Scott's use of her wealth, which radically opposes her ex-husband's.
'You'll probably never read this but… thank you for being such a classy, kind, and generous human being,' one such comment reads, likely referencing staggering charitable donations in the years since her divorce from Bezos (Scott has donated $19.2 billion since 2019, according to a December report from AP News).
Scott also got a shoutout from actress Mia Farrow the day after Sánchez married Bezos in a Dolce & Gabbana look estimated to be worth upwards of $200,000. 'How awesome is MacKenzie Scott!' the Rosemary's Baby actress wrote in a caption noting Scott's philanthropic efforts, a thinly-veiled jab at Bezos, which was supported by other celebrities, including Olivia Munn.
Scott, who shares four children with Bezos, married the famed entrepreneur in 1993, a year before Amazon was founded. She was one of the online store's first employees, building it from the ground up while raising her young family with Bezos.
In 2019, after reports accused Bezos of having an affair with Sánchez, the couple dissolved their marriage in one of the most expensive divorces in history. Scott walked away with $35.6 billion in Amazon stock, making her one of the wealthiest women in the world. The exes appeared to remain amicable. 'If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all again,' their statement announcing their divorce read.
Since then, Scott has done her best to prove that their divorce was never about the money, giving away hefty sums of money in no-strings-attached donations. 'The scale of this giving has really not just changed individual organizations but changed entire fields like affordable housing,' one of Scott's recipients, Shaun Donovan, CEO of the affordable housing organization Enterprise Community Partners, told AP.
Scott rarely comments on her philanthropy and most certainly does not comment on her ex-husband, but her supporters would happily declare that she is definitely showing him up as far as giving back to society is concerned.Best of SheKnows

Giannis Antetokounmpo's Former Teammate Says He Never Played With A Superstar Like James Harden

Giannis Antetokounmpo's Former Teammate Says He Never Played With A Superstar Like James Harden originally appeared on Fadeaway World. Giannis Antetokounmpo went viral on social media after he slapped his teammate in the back of the head during a timeout in Greece's match at EuroBasket. Jeff Teague, his former Bucks teammate, addressed the viral incident on the Club 520 podcast's most recent episode. While Teague was stumped that Antetokounmpo's teammate allowed him to do that, he pondered whether there was an ulterior reason for this incident. "Oh my god. He slapped the sh... I have nothing on a n**** slapping that back of my head without nothing... And why did they continue talking? It's five of them, so it's over." "I was like, golly, when I saw I was crying, bro... They're probably playing some game or something where they're slapping the back of each other's heads or something. I mean, just the way he huddled back up, it's got to be a joke or something." Teague was convinced that Antetokounmpo did not do that out of hostility and believes there must be an internal joke or something associated with this incident. "That was funny. I laughed hard as f**k when I saw that," continued Teague. 'He's super cool… Wouldn't have been me, though. See how I looked at him when he was coaching, like, 'Yeah, n***a let me get up that seat and watch out,' said Teague hilariously. Teague's co-host on the show went on to compare the situation to what Austin Rivers said about James Harden's superstar status in Houston. He explained how Rivers claimed that James Harden could even supersede the coach in his time with the Rockets under Mike D'Antoni. He claimed that even Mike D'Antoni wanted players to listen to Harden. 'Yeah, I've never played on a team with a super superstar like James Harden. Like he's going to do whatever play he wants, I ain't never played on a team like that," said Teague. Teague and Antetokounmpo were teammates in his final NBA season (2021), where the Bucks went on to win the championship. But Teague's words seem to indicate that, despite the two MVP awards before winning the championship, Antetokounmpo had not gained the superstar recognition inside the Bucks like Harden had with the Rockets. At the time, other veteran players like Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton were also on the Bucks. Therefore, Teague believes Giannis Antetokounmpo did not have the "super" superstar status at the time, as he could not dictate the plays and team strategy like Harden could. While Teague might be right in terms of the team dynamic, he may not have taken the best comparison here, especially considering how Antetokounmpo and Harden feel about each other. James Harden And Giannis Antetokounmpo's Rivalry It all started when Giannis Antetokounmpo won his first MVP Award for the 2019 regular season over James Harden. Harden led the league in scoring as he drove the Rockets to the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference that year (53-29) while averaging 36.1 points, 7.5 assists, and 6.6 rebounds. In comparison, Antetokounmpo led the Bucks to the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference that year (60-22) while averaging 27.7 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists. Harden believed that he was snubbed for the award despite making NBA history for scoring average in a single season. While Antetokounmpo and Harden have shared tension in the past, Giannis seems to have let that baggage go and gave Harden the flower he deserves. But if he hears his former teammate say he hasn't played with a superstar like James Harden, it may not sit well with story was originally reported by Fadeaway World on Aug 19, 2025, where it first appeared.

'Call of Duty' to fire starting gun at Gamescom trade show

Mega-selling first-person shooter franchise "Call of Duty" will blow open the Gamescom video games trade fair Tuesday, headlining a wave of new releases as the industry weathers a rough patch. Around 5,000 people, including game publishers, developers and fans, will attend the evening launch ceremony, before hundreds of thousands of gamers descend on the western German city of Cologne later in the week. Canadian TV presenter Geoff Keighley will from 8:00 pm (1800 GMT) introduce titles including "Call of Duty: Black Ops 7", one of two dozen instalments in the long-running series, as part of a two-hour showreel of the industry's upcoming blockbuster productions. After a business and press day on Wednesday, Gamescom's doors will be flung open until Sunday to bring around 1,500 exhibitors together with swarms of fans, some of them dressed in elaborate costumes painstakingly drawn from the screens of their favourite titles. While last year's event drew 335,000 visitors, organisers hope 2025 can bring it back to pre-Covid levels of around 370,000. "We'll only know on the final day how many actually visited, but... the first day is sold out, all indicators are in the green," Felix Falk, managing director of Germany's GAME industry association that co-organises Gamescom, told AFP ahead of opening day. - Hands-on time - One of the major draws to the vast halls of the Koelnmesse convention centre is the opportunity for hands-on time with the feast of the latest releases at the vast stands laid on by major firms. Nintendo is back after staying away last year, surfing on the success of its record-breaking Switch 2 console launch earlier this year. And Microsoft's Xbox division will be showing off its own portable console, slated for release towards the end of the year. But Japanese PlayStation maker Sony has elected to stay away in 2025. Among the hotly anticipated games unveiled this edition are new episodes of horror sagas "Silent Hill" and "Resident Evil". Indie hit "Hollow Knight" will get a sequel with "Silksong" after an eight-year wait, while Nintendo is cooking up "Metroid Prime 4", following up the beloved science-fiction action series. Exhibitors may be less ecstatic than fans at this year's Gamescom as the industry endures an extended rough patch. "The sector hasn't had an easy time of it in the last two years, there was a lot of consolidation, job cuts, some studios closed, some projects were ended prematurely," Falk said. "That's not unusual for the highly dynamic games industry but it's nevertheless not pretty when it happens," he added. Tracking website Game Industry Layoffs has tallied almost 30,000 job cuts since early 2023, with more than 4,000 this year alone. But revenue in the global games market should hold steady at just under $190 billion this year, data firm Newzoo has forecast. kf-tgb/tgb/phz/lth/jhb Error in retrieving data Sign in to access your portfolio Error in retrieving data Error in retrieving data Error in retrieving data Error in retrieving data
