Bengaluru delivery agent, 19, abducted, brutally murdered by five men after failed relationship
A 19-year-old delivery agent from Bengaluru's Devanahalli was brutally abducted and murdered by five men after a failed relationship with a woman, police said on Sunday.
According to a Times of India report, the victim, identified as Preetham R, was employed by an online grocery firm and resided in Prashanth Nagar, Devanahalli. Authorities have arrested five suspects in connection with his death: Srikanth, Shiva Kumar, Charan, Sanjay, and Kaushik, aged between 22 and 25. They live in Gantiganahalli and nearby areas, the report added.

According to the police, as reported by the publication, Preetham had been in a relationship with a 21-year-old woman studying Ayurveda. However, as the relationship soured, the woman distanced herself from Preetham. Unable to accept the breakup, Preetham reportedly made several attempts to reconcile, which the woman considered harassment. She informed her family about his persistent behaviour, which led to the involvement of her cousin, Srikanth, and his friends.
Srikanth and his associates confronted Preetham about his actions. Despite warnings, Preetham allegedly continued to pursue the woman, leading to a violent confrontation. On the evening of May 2, around 10.30 pm, the five suspects forcibly abducted Preetham from the vicinity of his workplace, dragging him into a vehicle. What followed was a harrowing two-hour ordeal during which the victim was assaulted while being driven to various locations.
Investigators revealed that the suspects repeatedly punched and kicked Preetham while he was inside the moving vehicle. At one point, they stopped at an isolated area to continue the brutal attack, concentrating their blows on his face, causing severe facial injuries. The assailants reportedly abandoned Preetham's unconscious body near the government primary school at Neeragantipalya village in Devanahalli when they realized the extent of their actions.
Preetham's father, Ramachandra H, grew concerned when his son, who was expected to return home by 3 am, hadn't arrived by 6 am the following day. After learning from his son's colleagues about the abduction, Ramachandra joined the search. Around 7.15 am, he was informed about an unidentified body found near Neeragantipalya. The family faced difficulty in identifying Preetham due to the severe facial injuries. After confirming the identity, Ramachandra filed a formal complaint with the police.
In his complaint, Ramachandra also claimed that the five suspects had previously assaulted Preetham about five days before the fatal incident, further escalating the tension between them, the report further added.
The police took all five suspects into custody on Sunday evening. They are reportedly laborers involved in various jobs. According to TOI, authorities said that the suspects are currently being questioned, with the investigation ongoing.

Arrested explosives godown owner quizzed for 2nd day
Rourkela: Interrogation of the owner of an explosives godown, Shravan Agrawal, who was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly violating standard operating procedures, continued for the second day at Raghunathpalli police station here on Friday. The police crackdown intensified after explosives were discovered in a truck near a petrol pump on June 1, followed by the seizure of another truck with illegal explosives on June 3. Both the accused have been charged under various sections of BNS and Explosives Substance Act. Investigation revealed Agrawal owns four warehouses in Bargaon, Sundargarh, with two registered in his wife Nikita's name. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is also probing the Maoist explosives loot. The SIT, led by additional SP H K Majhi, has sealed all four warehouses after stock verification. Agrawal was brought on a two-day remand to verify tax documents from explosives unit in Maharashtra and Telangana. Sales tax authorities also examined the papers on Friday. Nikita will also be questioned. "Our investigation is progressing," said Majhi. Deputy director of mines (Rourkela), Bimbadhar Sethi, has been asked to submit documents regarding permissions granted to the stone quarry for blasting. Around 3.8 tonnes of the looted explosives have been recovered, with joint search operations ongoing to trace the remaining cosnignment.

6-yr-old girl mauled to death by stray dogs in Bijnor
Bijnor: A six-year-old girl was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs in Faizi Colony, Bijnor, around 7am on Friday. Yasmin was walking a short distance behind her mother, Gulshan Jahan, who was headed to a nearby shop to buy milk. About 100 m from their home, a pack of 10 to 12 stray dogs surrounded and attacked the girl. She suffered severe bite injuries to her neck, face and chest. Her mother raised an alarm on hearing her cries, following which locals rushed to the spot and managed to drive the dogs away. Yasmin was taken to the CHC, where doctors declared her brought dead. The family later buried the body without a postmortem examination. They have demanded immediate action from the local municipal authorities. Meanwhile, Dhampur SDM Ritu Chaudhary said, "I have directed the municipality authorities to launch a campaign to catch stray dogs. Legal proceedings are underway." This is the second fatal stray dog attack in the region recently. On May 10, a one-and-a-half-year-old boy, Madhav, was similarly mauled to death in Yaqubpur village of Amroha district. HC reserves order on Anjaneyulu's bail plea
Vijayawada: The high court on Friday reserved orders in the bail petition filed by former APPSC secretary and DG rank officer PSR Anjaneyulu, who was arrested in connection with alleged irregularities in Group I evaluation and is under judicial remand. The court said it will pronounce orders on Monday. Arguing on behalf of the police, assistant public prosecutor Sai Rohit said Anjaneyulu is not cooperating with the police, and expressing anger at investigating officers during his questioning in police custody and repeatedly saying that he is responsible for everything. Anjaneyulu has been charged with illegally paying money to a private company and getting the answer sheets evaluated by ineligible persons. Arguing on behalf of the IPS officer, S Nagesh Reddy said the evaluation was not done at a private place as is being alleged. Only verification of answer sheets was done there. "He has been in jail for the last 30 days and has completed two days of police custody. As the petitioner is suffering from ill health, bail may be granted with conditions," he urged the court. PVG Umesh Chandra, who appeared for Madhusudhan, another accused in the case, said the petitioner acted according to the terms of the agreement and sought bail with conditions.
