Watch: Rams stars hilariously call key plays from 2024 season

USA Today3 days ago
The Los Angeles Rams had a lot of huge moments from the 2024 season.
One of the biggest was Jared Verse's fumble recovery for a touchdown in the NFC Wild Card win over the Minnesota Vikings, which set the tone for the 27-9 win. So to relive that moment, ESPN LA gave a few Rams players the microphone to put their own spin on the broadcast.
Verse himself had some funny comments about his own play, while others like Braden Fiske and Steve Avila also tried out commentating.
Earlier this past season, running back Kyren Williams flipped into the endzone for a touchdown against the San Francisco 49ers in a Week 3 win. Puka Nacua and Matthew Stafford had the chance to put on their announcer voice to remember that play, too.
Take a watch:
Subjectivity aside, Verse has a knack for the theatrics of the broadcast booth. His enthusiasm and excitement for the game oozed out of his voice, and he knows how to make the most of any moment with a microphone.

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors Just days after it was announced that "Spider-Man 4," aka "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," was bringing Jon Bernthal in as the Punisher. The new Tom Holland-led film is officially bringing back a fan-favorite MCU hero and villain. More news: John Krasinski Announces "A Quiet Place 3' Release Date Per a report from The Hollywood Reporter, it is confirmed that the new "Spider-Man" sequel will bring back Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. That isn't the only addition, as Michael Mando will also return to the fold to portray Scorpion. It will be interesting how the plot is set up, considering Spider-Man asked Doctor Strange to make everyone forget that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. This includes MJ, Ned, and presumably the rest of the heroes left in the MCU. Tom Holland as Spider-Man. Sony owns the rights to the Marvel character. Tom Holland as Spider-Man. Marvel More news: Disney Sets Date for Original 'Star Wars' 50th Anniversary Re-Release It would be believed that Spider-Man might have a run-in with Dr. Bruce Banner, and would hopefully not have to fight The Hulk in the process. "Spider-Man: No Way Home" was the last film that Holland appeared in as the Web Slinger and was easily the most brazen. Not only did Doctor Strange make an important appearance and memory wipe, but the comic-loving world got to see the return of Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, Jamie Foxx as Electro, Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus, but Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprised their roles as Peter Parker as well. Marvel has waited a long time to start putting together the next chapter in the Holland-led universe, and it is believed that this may be the final one. Holland has spoken publicly about his desire to move away from the role entirely. There have been plenty of rumors regarding Marvel potentially moving on to feature Miles Morales in the role of Spider-Man, but recent reports indicated that MCU leader Kevin Feige has instructed everyone to not touch Morales until the "Spider-Verse" movies wrap up. Morales has become a mainstay and fan-favorite fixture in comics as Spider-Man, becoming even more popular due to the Sony video games that feature him in a prominent role, and the previously mentioned "Spider-Verse" animated films. It would be great to see him emerge in live-action, but that is likely not to happen for a few years. Whatever the case may be, Marvel has hit home runs with the current Spider-Man films, and the same should be expected from the fourth entry that features Holland. "Spider-Man 4" is due out on July 31, 2026. For more movie news, head to Newsweek Movies.

Micah Parsons is a huge fan of Jared Verse, especially after watching one specific play

Count Parsons among those who were blown away by Verse's rookie year NFL Top 100 Players of 2025:@RamsNFL DE Jared Verse debuts at No. 53! @NFLFilms Jared Verse exceeded all expectations in his first year with the Los Angeles Rams, winning Defensive Rookie of the Year and emerging as one of the game's best young defenders. He had the attention of every offensive tackle last season, with the recently retired Terron Armstead mentioning Verse as a player he's glad he never has to face again. Micah Parsons was impressed by Verse's rookie year, too. The Dallas Cowboys superstar praised Verse in an interview for the NFL Top 100 series, pointing out one play in particular that caught his eye. Parsons remembered watching Verse pancake Jordan Mailata when the Rams faced the Eagles, putting the 6-foot-8, 365-pound tackle on his back. 'I saw when he pancaked Jordan Mailata. I said, 'All right, he's not afraid to run through somebody's chest. This is the type of dude you want on your team.' Verse admits he had his own 'welcome to the NFL moment' during his rookie year, but Parsons saw that play as Verse welcoming Mailata to his world. 'Usually rookies get a 'welcome to the NFL' moment, but he just welcomed a vet to his world. He's like, 'I'm a rookie but I'm here to play football.' That was pretty dope to see,' Parsons said. Verse only had 4.5 sacks in the regular season, which wasn't close to the league lead. But he was tops in the NFL with 89 total pressures including the playoffs, according to Pro Football Focus. That shows the type of impact he had consistently for the Rams. 'I don't look at sacks with him. Sacks is such an odd way of looking at statistics, but his dominance, the way he gets to the quarterback, him being fearless and wanting to attack,' he added. Verse is already a star but he's well on his way to being in the conversation as one of the best overall defenders in the NFL already. Parsons is in that top tier so when he talks about a pass rusher, it carries weight.
