Lokesh Kanagaraj Wants To Reunite With Thalapathy Vijay For Master 2, Ditches Leo 2
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj expressed his desire to make Master 2 with Thalapathy Vijay, despite fans eagerly awaiting Leo 2.
While fans are eagerly waiting for Leo 2, director Lokesh Kanagaraj has something else on his mind. He wants to bring back JD from Master! In a recent chat with film critic Sudhir Srinivasan, Lokesh said he'd love to work with Thalapathy Vijay again, but not for Leo. Instead, he wants to make Master 2.
'Only time can tell, and Vijay Anna has to decide. We can bring him in for a cameo, but I want to do Master with him. Everyone is waiting for Leo 2, but I want to do Master with him," Lokesh said honestly.
He went on to explain why. 'I think there's a part of that story which remains untold. It's there in the first one without any conclusion. I just want to do that film. I personally like the vibe of JD very much. Leo is a strong character and people love it, but if you personally ask me, I have a proper idea for Master 2 and he also knows it. But it's all about timing – he now has other things he wants to achieve."
Talking about his plans for the LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe), Lokesh said, 'After 'Coolie', I'll start with 'Kaithi 2'. I also have to do 'Vikram 2' with Kamal Sir, but I haven't finished writing it yet. Finally, it has to be 'Leo 2', but we must plan it without keeping Leo Das in mind."
Meanwhile, Lokesh Kanagaraj's next big film Coolie is all set to release in theatres on August 14. To kick off the 100-day countdown, a special promo was dropped on May 6. The film stars Rajinikanth in the lead, along with a powerful ensemble cast including Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, and Reba Monica John. Pooja Hegde will be seen in a special song, and there's also a surprise cameo by Aamir Khan. Music for the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

The trailer featured intense action scenes, dramatic moments, and strong dialogues. Fans also saw actor Nagarjuna playing the villain in the film. Coolie has received an A (Adults Only) certificate from the censor board. This is Rajinikanth's first A-rated film in many years, suggesting the movie will have intense and raw action scenes. One of the biggest highlights of the film is the reunion of Rajinikanth and Aamir Khan after almost 30 years. The two last worked together in the 1995 movie Aatank Hi Aatank. In Coolie, Aamir Khan plays a character named Dahaa. The makers recently shared a poster showing Aamir in a rugged new look. Besides him, the film also stars Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir and Upendra in key roles. Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, Coolie is expected to be a major release. It will face strong competition at the box office from another big film, War 2 , starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR.

Nagarjuna's villain look in ‘Coolie' inspired by Heath Ledger's Joker; Lokesh Kanagaraj brings madness to costume design; Read more
(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) The 'Coolie' actor Nagarjuna has revealed a fascinating behind-the-scenes detail about his villainous transformation. In a candid chat with co-star Shruti Haasan, the Telugu superstar shared that director Lokesh Kanagaraj took cues from Heath Ledger's iconic Joker in The Dark Knight to design his costume's color palette. The mix of 'purple and cream,' he said, was chosen to convey a certain 'madness' in his character. 'Loki probably saw the madness in the colors as well,' Nagarjuna explained. With a purple jacket and baggy pants — a first for the actor — the look was unlike anything he had worn before. 'I'm glad he didn't put on that smile,' he quipped, earning laughter from Shruti. A bold role outside his comfort zone Known for his heroic and morally upright characters, Nagarjuna admitted that stepping into a negative role took careful consideration. For the first time in his career, he recorded the narration and took notes before committing. 'The story starts with Simon's character,' he revealed, hinting at his central role in the plot. 'I never did this earlier,' he added, underlining the deliberate choice to step into unfamiliar territory. Shruti noted the look also had hints of the 'old-school Joker,' blending nostalgia with menace. Coolie | Song - I Am The Danger (Lyrical) Rajinikanth's quiet, powerful nod Perhaps the most heartwarming moment came when Nagarjuna recalled Rajinikanth's reaction to one of his scenes. After delivering a shot, he noticed the Superstar watching closely. 'Rajini sir nodded and said 'hmmm' with a sweet smile,' Nagarjuna recounted — a small gesture, but one that carried immense weight for the actor. With Coolie bringing together an ensemble cast including Rajinikanth, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and Aamir Khan, and with Lokesh Kanagaraj blending Hollywood inspirations with his signature storytelling, the film promises to be as much a visual treat as it is an action-packed spectacle.
