Kevin Durant prefers trade to one of these three NBA teams

Kevin Durant has narrowed his list down to three teams.
The NBA superstar prefers that the Suns trade him to either the Heat, Spurs or Rockets, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Saturday night, with the 36-year-old willing to sign a contract extension with any of the three.
However, the Suns have told the six-to-eight 'seriously interested' teams that they will make the trade that is best for the franchise and not based on Durant's list of desired clubs, the report said.

The Knicks are not in the mix for Durant, The Post's Stefan Bondy reported Wednesday.
Charania said Friday on 'The Pat McAfee Show' that a Durant trade could happen in 'the next few days' and that two of Durant's preferred destinations, Miami and Houston, were among the three teams who have had 'serious traction' in trade talks with the Suns. The third team was the Timberwolves.
Durant has one year left on his contract at $54.7 million for the 2025-26 NBA season. If he's traded, he'd be eligible for a two-year, $122 million contract extension beginning July 6.

The Suns' Big 3 experiment with Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal was a failure as they got swept in the first round in the 2024 playoffs, resulting in the firing of head coach Frank Vogel after just one season.
Phoenix then went 36-46 this season and missed the playoffs under Mike Budenholzer, with the club again firing its head coach after just one year.
Jordan Ott, who was a Cavaliers assistant, was recently hired as the team's new coach.
Durant earned his 15th career All-Star nod this past season, averaging 26.6 points, 6 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 62 games while shooting 52.7 percent from the field, including 43 percent from 3-point range.

The Heat (37-45) were swept by the top-seeded Cavaliers in the first round of the playoffs. The Rockets (52-30) were the No. 2 seed in the West but fell to the Warriors in seven games in the first round. The Spurs (34-48) missed the playoffs but figure to have a bright future with Victor Wembanyama and De'Aaron Fox.
Durant was nearly traded to the Warriors at the deadline but shot down a reunion with Golden State to remain with the Suns.

Padres' Jackson Merrill placed on 7-day injured list

PHOENIX (AP) — The San Diego Padres have placed All-Star outfielder Jackson Merrill on the seven-day injured list on Sunday, a day after he suffered a concussion during Saturday night's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Merrill was injured in the seventh inning when he attempted a stolen base, but was tagged out by Arizona second baseman Ketel Marte. The tag came on Merrill's helmet as he slid head first and he was down for several minutes before walking off the field. He was replaced in the field by Brandon Lockridge. Merrill, 22, is batting .304 with five homers. He finished second in voting for the National League Rookie of the Year and ninth for NL MVP last year after hitting 24 homers, driving in 90 runs and posting a .292 batting average. Trenton Brooks was called up from Triple-A El Paso to replace Merrill on the Padres' roster. Brooks, 29, was batting .311 with 14 homers and 54 RBIs at El Paso. The first baseman hit .120 in 25 at-bats for the San Francisco Giants last year. ___
