Highest rated game of 2025 is already 20% off on PS5 and Xbox

Metro30-04-2025
A major contender for Game Of The Year has already been discounted across PS5, Xbox and PC, as a film adaptation gets underway.
There have been several excellent games released in 2025 so far, including Citizen Sleeper 2, Split Fiction, and Blue Prince, but the most surprising might be Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Developed by new studio Sandfall Interactive, the French turn-based role player is an original IP which packs the vocal talents of Daredevil's Charlie Cox and Andy Serkis from The Lord Of The Rings. Along with receiving critical acclaim, it has sold over one million copies within just three days.
If you haven't yet jumped into its brand of dark fantasy, various retailers have already discounted the game across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC, less than a week after it launched.
On Amazon, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has been reduced by 18% to £40.99 on PlayStation 5, while the Xbox Series X version is 20% off at £39.99.
There is a bit of a wait for physical copies (delivery is currently listed between May 13 to June 2) but the developers have assured more are on the way to various retailers, in light of the demand.
'We are aware that we have sold out of physical editions at various retailers,' a post from the developer reads. 'Our distribution partners are looking into re-stocking. Sorry, the demand has been higher than expected in many regions. Please stay in touch with your local stores for more info.'
If you're an eager beaver on PC, Fantatical is selling Steam keys for £33.59, which is 20% off the usual £41.99 price. The deluxe edition, which includes additional outfits and hairstyles, is also down to £39.99. Amazon – £40.99 on PlayStation 5 (18% off)
Amazon – £39.99 on Xbox Series X (20% off)
Fanatical – £33.59 on PC (20% off)
The success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 makes a sequel almost inevitable but it seems like publisher Kepler Interactive was confident in the IP before it even launched, as a movie adaptation was officially announced back in January. More Trending
As reported by Variety earlier this year, Sandfall Interactive has teamed up with Story Kitchen (the same company developing movies for Just Cause and Streets Of Rage) on the project. Casting and directorial decisions are said to be underway, with Story Kitchen founders Dmitri M. Johnson and Mike Goldberg serving as producers.
'We're thrilled to collaborate with Sandfall Interactive to bring the rich, immersive world of Expedition 33 to the big screen,' a statement from Story Kitchen reads. 'The game's compelling narrative and complex characters provide a solid foundation for a cinematic experience that will resonate with both gamers and moviegoers alike.'
As seen with the success of A Minecraft Movie, movie adaptations of video games are doing big business at the moment. However, the biggest ones are in the family-friendly mould, like The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Sonic The Hedgehog, so it remains to be seen if the mature themes in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 can find similar success on the big screen.

‘I wore these Skechers sandals every day on my holiday and they felt like walking on clouds'

Shopping Writer Meghan can't stop raving about her Skechers sandals, which she wore all day, every day, while on holiday in Greece, as she says, 'they were so comfy they were like walking on clouds' Just before jetting off on my week-long holiday to Zakynthos (Greece), I realised I didn't have any sandals that would, firstly, be comfortable to wear day in and day out while also being versatile and practical enough to see me through walks on the beach or hikes in the hills and (of course) stylish enough to match any outfit I had packed. So I frantically got my hands on a pair of Skechers sandals in the hopes that the brand would not let me down. And they did not disappoint. I opted for the Arya Cooling Off Sandals from Skechers, which are currently up for grabs on Amazon, as well as from JD Williams and Begg Shoes. But, if you act fast and fancy saving some coins, Amazon is offering them for 12% less. These sandals promise a convenient slip-in style that makes them easy to pop on and off before taking a dip in the sea or when running to the bar, without the hassle of faffing with straps and buckles. Plus, they're 'cooling off' design meant they dry super quickly - which was essential for me, as I was staying so close to the coast. I could tell I'd made the right choice with these shoes as soon as I took them out of the box. They offered the style I wanted with the simplicity and versatility to match every outfit in my suitcase. Plus, they do come in other colours if you'd prefer a different shade. I chose black so that the styling possibilities would be endless. Plus, these sandals have a slightly raised heel (which I always appreciate as I'm on the shorter side), which means you get all the comfort of flat shoes with an extra bit of height. These sandals continued to win me over when I quickly realised they needed no breaking in. They were incredibly comfortable straight out of the box—so comfortable, in fact, that I wore them to the airport. Without any stretching or wearing-in needed, these shoes quickly felt as though they had moulded to the shape of my foot, and despite the straps' design, there was no rubbing or discomfort from heel to toe. Designed with Skechers' Hands Free Slip-ins back heel, these slingback sandals feature a slip-on knitted strap upper that can easily be pulled on or slid off in seconds. This made them a lifesaver for walking to and from the villa from the beach, or for popping on when heading out to the shop. But the real star of the shoe was the cushioned Luxe Foam footbed, which moulds to your foot shape over time to create a uniquely yours shade that provides optimal comfort. Even after wearing these shoes all day for the first few days of the trip, it was clear that the footbeds were beginning to take the shape of my feet. The luxe cushioning meant that my feet didn't ache, no matter how far I walked. Whether I was popping in the pool or hiking to the next town, these shoes felt like walking on clouds —not just because of the foam footbeds but also because of their super lightweight design, which meant I didn't feel weighed down by heavy shoes. If you fancy grabbing a pair of my new favourite sandals of all time, you can find the Skechers Arya Cooling Off Sandal for £51.86 on Amazon. It is available in black, pink, or white, in sizes 3 to 9—though it's worth noting that the price may vary depending on your shoe size and preferred shade. Elsewhere, you can find these Arya Skecher Sandals for £59 from Begg Shoes in black or lavender, or for the same price at JD Williams, where only the lavender colourway is available. If you're happy to settle for a slightly different design, Skechers' Slip-In range includes plenty of comfortable and stylish alternatives, including these Skechers Slip-ins: GO WALK Flex Sandals for £65 on Skechers' own site.

Best of Gamescom 2025 trailers – Resident Evil Requiem to Lego Batman

While light on big announcements, Gamescom Opening Night Live delivered a wealth of trailers for the likes of Ninja Gaiden 4, Ghost of Yōtei, and Silent Hill f. Despite being the biggest gaming convention in the world, Gamescom Opening Night Live in Cologne, Germany is usually light on major game announcements in comparison to Summer Game Fest and The Game Awards. However, while not matching the latter, this year's event was more stacked than usual, with Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7, a Black Myth: Wukong sequel, and a new trailer for Resident Evil Requiem being the big headliners. Many expected Hollow Knight: Silksong to make a big splash as a demo is playable at the show, but aside from confirmation that it's coming out this year in a brief snippet, any major news on that title is being saved for a dedicated livestream on Thursday, August 21. Beyond these juggernauts, there were some surprises and reveals of previously leaked titles. If you're looking for a handy rundown of the highlights, you can check out the biggest and best below. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. While it was perhaps hyped up too much during the show, the new trailer for Resident Evil Requiem is still just as creepy as you'd hope. This appears to cover the game's opening (or at least some kind of prologue) where protagonist Grace Ashcroft is escorted by her mother Alyssa (from Resident Evil: Outbreak) through a dark hotel. There's little gameplay shown but the production quality is excellent, and with a demo available on the show floor at Gamescom, expect some impressions soon. The game is set to be released on February 27, 2026 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The announcement leaked beforehand, but the trailer for Lego Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight was one of the show's best. In a similar vein to Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, this new outing from developer Traveler's Tales looks to encompass decades of Batman films, television, comic books, and games in one package. The trailer shows off combat inspired by Batman: Arkham Asylum and scenes pulled from various movies, including The Dark Knight and 2022's The Batman. The real star of the show though? Matt Berry as the voice of Bane. It's set to be released in 2026 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Resident Evil Requiem aside, Capcom might have another winner on its hands with Onimusha: Way Of The Sword next year. This new trailer shows off some spectacular creature designs and the brutal combat, and it looks more impressive with each passing trailer. It's set to be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in 2026. In one of many surprises during the pre-show, the developers behind Ghostrunner revealed their next game, Valor Mortis. This is a first-person Soulslike set in alternate history version of the Napoleonic wars, where you play as a soldier who is brought back to life with the corrupting power of a mysterious plague. It's set to be released in 2026. The fourth instalment in the real-time strategy series was revealed during the event, which promises to be a return to its roots via mass battles and base-building. It will also sport over 70 campaign missions, an expanded Sync Kill system, and four Warhammer factions to choose from, including the introduction of the Adeptus Mechanicus. Set 100 years after the original, Lords Of The Fallen 2 got its first trailer during the show. It's a CG-heavy affair, so it's difficult to tell if it will be as derivative of Dark Souls as the first, but the developers have promised faster and more punishing fights. It's set to be released in 2026. Another pre-show surprise was the return of Bubsy the Bobcat, who originally debuted in 1993's Claws Encounters Of The Furred Kind. This new title, Bubsy 4D, is from Demon Turf developer Fabraz, and appears to be a platformer much in the same vein. No release date was announced, but it's set to be released on all platforms, including the Switch 2. Much like Onimusha: Way Of The Sword, every trailer for Silent Hill f looks better than the last. This latest puts the spotlight on the story story, as protagonist Hinako Schimizu's secluded town of Ebisugaoka is consumed by a sudden fog. After the successful remake of Silent Hill 2, this looks likethe fresh shot in the arm the franchise desperately needs. After being announced two years ago, this zombie shooter was re-revealed with a new gameplay trailer. It's from the same studio who released 2019's World War Z and throws in vehicular chaos into the co-op mix. It's set to be released in early 2026. Ron Gilbert, the developer known for his work on the Monkey Island series, is creating a roguelike vertical-scrolling role player with his studio Terrible Toybox. As outlined on the Steam page, you have to 'kill enemies, collect gold, and avoid the Grim Reaper long enough to pay the Ferryman's exorbitant river-crossing fee to the afterlife'. The biggest PlayStation 5 exclusive of the year received another trailer at Gamescom, which was bundled with a free DLC announcement. Set to be released in 2026, the Legends DLC for the Ghost Of Tsushima sequel is a co-op multiplayer mode featuring two-player story missions and four-player survival matches in a 'fantastical, supernatural setting'. Team Jade, the studio behind Delta Force, announced a creepy squad-based shooter in Project Spectrum, which is developed in Unreal Engine 5 for PC. It looks visually impressive as you'd expect, but it proved one of the unexpected highlights of the show overall. One of the most memorable games from Gamescom Opening Night Live popped up, once again, in the pre-show. Denshattack! looks like a mash-up of Sonic The Hedgehog and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, albeit where you're flipping and grinding as a train. It's vibrant and wild, and it's set to be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in Spring 2026. Ninja's are having a comeback in 2025, and this next mainline instalment in the Ninja Gaiden series might be the culmination. Co-developed by Team Ninja and PlatinumGames, Ninja Gaiden 4's latest trailer places an emphasis on its story, but the flashy combat and hyper visuals continue to steal the show. It's set to be released October 21, 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Email gamecentral@ leave a comment below, follow us on Twitter. Indiana Jones not the only Xbox game coming to Switch 2 next year claims insider

Microsoft is bringing another Xbox game to the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026 according to an insider, alongside the recently announced Indiana Jones And The Great Circle. Over the past few months, Microsoft has repeatedly said it will support the Nintendo Switch 2 but there's been no actual games to show for it. That all changed at Gamescom Opening Night Live, where Microsoft debuted a trailer for the Indiana Jones And The Great Circle DLC, titled The Order Of Giants. Shortly afterwards, a splash screen confirmed the title is coming to the Switch 2 next year. This is the first Xbox-published game confirmed for Nintendo's console, yet according to an insider, it isn't the only one planned for release in 2026. According to NateTheHate, who has been very accurate when it comes to Nintendo Direct announcements recently, Microsoft will bring Bethesda's space epic Starfield to the console too. 'Indiana Jones & The Great Circle won't be the only Bethesda game coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026,' they wrote in a post on X shortly after the Gamescom announcement. 'See that planet? You can go there. 'Aside from landing on PlayStation 5… Starfield is planned for release on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.' Indiana Jones & the Great Circle won't be the only Bethesda game coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in that planet? You can go from landing on PS5… Starfield is planned for release on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. — NateTheHate2 (@NateTheHate2) August 19, 2025 A PlayStation 5 port of Starfield has been rumoured for months, but it still hasn't been announced. With Microsoft's multiplatform push though, a port feels inevitable – with some speculating it could be tied to the next expansion. More Trending The same insider previously claimed Xbox is planning to release Switch 2 ports of Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator, although neither of those have been confirmed. Microsoft released several Xbox-published games on the original Switch, including Ori And The Blind Forest, Ori And The Will Of The Wisps, Pentiment, and Grounded. As for the Indiana Jones DLC, The Order Of Giants is set to be released September 4, 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. A synopsis reads: 'Mysteries of the Roman empire await Indy, where forgotten catacombs twist into something far more sinister.' Elsewhere at Gamescom Opening Night Live, Activision debuted the first gameplay footage from Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7, while the show closed with a sequel to Black Myth: Wukong.
