Amidst all the excitement over the Pura 80 global launch, Huawei also revealed a refreshed version of the MatePad 11.5 from 2023. The new model has a sharper display with improved PaperMatte tech, a bigger battery with faster charging and more.
The 11.5' IPS LCD now has 2,450 x 1,600px resolution (256ppi, 3:2 aspect ratio), up from 2,200 x 1,200px. It runs at up to 120Hz refresh rate and 600 nits brightness (with DC dimming).
The optional PaperMatte technology uses nano-etching to reduce reflections by 60% and light interference by 99%. A new circular polarization filter further improves visibility and viewing comfort and even works with sunglasses.
With support for 3rd generation M-Pencil, the tablet can use AI to neaten up your handwriting, organize your handwritten notes and highlight the key points or just let you sketch, with or without AI's help.

Part of the weight is the new 10,100mAh battery, which promises up to 14 hours of streaming on a single charge (the 2023 pad had a 7,700mAh battery). Additionally, charging has almost double the power now with 40W SuperCharge.
The tablet drops the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 and replaces it with an in-house Kirin 8020. There's a 67% larger graphite sheet to improve cooling. The tablet is equipped with 8GB of RAM and 128/256GB storage.

There won't be a Samsung Galaxy S26+, new report claims

This year Samsung launched the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra in January and then the S25 Edge in May. Next year, the family (if we disregard the FE model) will only be made up of three members, according to a new report from Samsung's home of South Korea. So, expect to see the 6.27-inch Galaxy S26, the 6.66-inch Galaxy S26 Edge, and the 6.89-inch Galaxy S26 Ultra. That's right, there won't be a Galaxy S26+, that is, of course, if this report proves to be accurate. We can't say we're very surprised. After all, the Galaxy S25 Edge has the same screen size as the S25+, but it's thinner (with all the compromises arising from that - primarily we're talking one less camera and a far smaller battery). And with Apple long rumored to replace the iPhone 16 Plus with the iPhone 17 Air, Samsung is just following along. We assume that the Plus model of the Galaxy S series has been the lowest-selling one by far (it's the same case for Apple), and so letting it go makes sense, especially as the Edge will actually cater to those who specifically want the in-between screen size. For those who want the biggest screen and the most features, there's always the Ultra, and of course it helps Samsung's bottom line that it's the most expensive of the line - and that the Edge is more expensive than the Plus. Average selling price for the line will definitely go up, even if only by a little. The flip side is that those who really liked what the Plus had to offer and didn't need the extra bells and whistles of the Ultra will now have two flawed options to pick from: the Edge with the same size but slightly more expensive and with a smaller battery and presumably still one less camera, or the Ultra that's much more expensive, and bigger, and heavier. Report: Chinese Android makers are testing under-display selfie cameras with 3D facial recognition

3D facial recognition hardware is a luxury in today's smartphone market, with Apple being the only major player to offer Face ID on its iPhones persistently. According to a new report, several Chinese smartphone makers are internally testing devices with under-screen cameras and 3D face recognition. The report comes from tipster Digital Chat Station and suggests that we may soon see the first crop of devices with the 'invisible' selfie cameras for biometric authentication. No specific maker or model was mentioned for now. While iPhones have had 3D face recognition for a while, it is still a rarity on Android devices. Honor is one of the only makers to offer the feature, with the Magic7 Pro being the most recent example. We've also seen several Android devices with under-display (UD) selfie cameras, mainly from the ZTE nubia lineup - the Z70S Ultra being one recent example. What we haven't seen yet is a device that has both 3D face scanning and a UD camera, so it would be interesting to see how this tech develops and which brand will release the first device combining both features. Galaxy S25 FE leak confirms an important battery upgrade

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE | Image Credit — PhoneArena Samsung might improve the charging speed of the Galaxy S25 FE. The company's upcoming FE model might support up to 45W wired charging, though it is almost certain it won't have a charger in the box. New listings for TÜV Rheinland certification have revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE might support 10V/4.5A or 15V/3A wired fast charging. Those numbers translate to a charging speed of 45W, which would be a significant upgrade over previous Fan Edition models. Last year's Galaxy S24 FE only supported a 25W charging speed. The same is true for the current Galaxy S25 and the super-slim Galaxy S25 Edge, which also charge with 25W. If the Galaxy S25 FE charges with 45W, it'll match Samsung's ultra-flagship model, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and the Galaxy S25 Plus. The Galaxy S25 FE shapes up as one of the most significant upgrades to Samsung's Fan Edition devices. Earlier rumors have claimed that the device would have a redesign, which might make it much thinner than before and shrink its bezels. According to earlier information, the Galaxy S25 FE might be only 7.4mm thick, which is almost as thin as the base Galaxy S25 . Samsung's vanilla flagship is 7.2mm visual changes might not negatively affect the internals. If the rumors turn out to be true, we can expect the same 4,700mAh battery as inside last year's model, though some still hope for a little boost to 5,000mAh. Render of the Galaxy S25 FE | Image credit — SammyGuru Samsung is very likely to choose its own Exynos 2400 chipset for the Galaxy S25 FE, which we've already seen inside another fan edition — the foldable Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. The same chip was also inside the Galaxy S24 series. Samsung usually releases its Fan Edition devices in the fall, and last year the Galaxy S24 FE was released in September. We could expect a similar timeframe for the release of the Galaxy S25 FE, though we don't have any official information yet. I think the Galaxy S25 FE is shaping up as a mighty competitor. If Samsung manages to keep the battery size and the price while trimming the body down and increasing the charging speed, this phone will be impressive. Secure your connection now at a bargain price!
