DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A new event to help 'preserve and protect' artwork at the Dayton Art Institute is occurring in early spring.
Curated, a 'signature event,' is scheduled to happen at the museum from 6 to 9 p.m. on April 3. The event will allow guests to enjoy cocktails, as well as gourmet and tasty treats, while helping raise funds to protect a piece of artwork called 'Contemplation on Manjushri's Buddha Field.'
Guests will receive a punch card for sampling the different varieties of alcohol.
With funds, DAI plans to preserve the piece by the following:
Repair tears in the fabric
Stabilize loose paint and textile brand
Allow safer display and handling
Michael Roediger, director and president of DAI, said the venue wants to obtain and upkeep its collection, and can be supported by the event.
'At the Dayton Art Institute, we are trusted stewards of the art, committed to caring for and preserving the priceless community treasures contained within the museum collection,' said Roediger.
Reservations are limited, and will become available for purchase here on Feb. 21.

21-year-old local filmmaker to debut feature film this weekend

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A 21-year-old local filmmaker will be debuting his first feature film this weekend. 'Pastime' will premiere at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force Theatre this Saturday, June 14. The film is described as a romantic comedy and character study film meant for all ages to enjoy. LIST: Pride Month events in the Miami Valley 'The synopsis of the story encompasses an enduring summer romance that lasts for a while and fell apart,' said Corinthian Campbell, 'Pastime' writer and director. 'The main character is battling with the concept of what is love, is it a pastime, passion to some people? What is it?' Campbell worked to include several Dayton area locations to make his work more attractive to locals, as well as help promote the film culture in the Miami Valley. Saturday's event is more than just watching the film, it's the World Premiere Red Carpet Screening. 'It is kind of a red carpet event for cast and crew,' said Johnny Catalano, associate producer on the film. 'It's absolutely open to the public. It's a really fun night out to see a film you would not see at multiplex theaters.' Tickets cost $15. Click here to learn more. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
