VIDEO: Yankees voice Michael Kay rips Mets star Juan Soto on odd comment about All-Star snub
Despite being the June MLB player of the month and one of the hottest players in baseball right now, Soto was left off the National League All-Star team in 2025. The snub surprised many around the game, including the four-time All-Star. However, when asked about not being at this year's event, he had a response that bothered many in New York.

'What do you think?' Soto replied. 'I think it's a lot of money on the table [if I make it].'
According to Spotrac, the outfielder gets a $100,000 bonus for each All-Star Game he makes. While that is a solid chunk of change for most, that amount seems not worth mentioning for a player making $46 million this season alone. The response ticked off many baseball aficionados in New York, and you can include Yankees play-by-play voice, Michael Kay.
Juan Soto stats (2025): .269 AVG, .399 OBP,.509 SLG, .908 OPS, 21 HR, 52 RBI, 66 R
'Goodness gracious. Talk about being tone deaf,' Kay said on a new edition of 'The Michael Kay Show.' 'Come on, Juan. The last I looked, you're making a smidge under $47 million this season. And you're upset because of an All-Star bonus that you have in your contract? You know how bad that looks, that you said that?

'… There are players that make $40 million who are going to look at that and roll their eyes. Why would you even speak that into existence?' he added. 'When I first saw that he said that, I thought it was some AI nonsense. There's no way that a guy that I know, who's a smart dude, would ever say that. I go to SNY's site on X, and there it is. He really said it.'
Soto's comments were likely meant to be a joke. However, after landing the richest contract in sports history, complaining about more money is going to grind the gears of many fans, analysts, and even players. Furthermore, complaining about money first over being with teammates at the game just adds to the doubts some have that the superstar enjoys playing for the Mets.

Robert and Montgomery homer as the White Sox beat the Phillies 6-2
CHICAGO (AP) — Luis Robert Jr. and Colson Montgomery homered to help the Chicago White Sox beat Cristopher Sánchez and the Philadelphia Phillies 6-2 on Monday night. Davis Martin pitched six-hit ball into the sixth inning as Chicago improved to 7-3 since the All-Star break. Lenyn Sosa had three hits, including a run-scoring single. The last-place White Sox need two more wins to match their total from all of last year, when they went 41-121 to break the modern major league record for most losses in a season. Bryce Harper had two hits and two RBIs for Philadelphia, which dropped to 2-2 on a six-game trip. Kyle Schwarber walked three times, and Brandon Marsh finished with two hits. Sánchez (9-3) allowed four runs and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings in his first loss since June 8. The wiry left-hander went 4-0 with a 1.40 ERA in his previous seven starts. Sánchez was staked to a 2-0 lead on Harper's two-run double in the third inning. But Montgomery responded with a two-run drive in the bottom half. Montgomery's 395-foot shot to right was the rookie's fourth homer in his last six games. It also was the first homer for a lefty batter off Sánchez this season. Robert made it 4-2 with his 11th homer, another two-run shot that drifted over the wall in right in the fourth. The center fielder went 1 for 4 with two strikeouts a day after he was hit by a 101.1 mph fastball in the ninth inning of a 5-4 loss to the Cubs. Martin (3-8) struck out seven in 5 2/3 innings in his first win since May 14. Key moment The White Sox tacked on two runs in the eighth on singles by Sosa and Montgomery. Key stat The Phillies struck out 11 times. Up next Phillies left-hander Jesús Luzardo (8-5, 4.58 ERA) starts on Tuesday night, and right-hander Jonathan Cannon (4-7, 4.48 ERA) takes the mound for the White Sox. ___ AP MLB: Jay Cohen, The Associated Press

Twins snap 4-game losing streak in 5-4 win over Guardians
Trevor Larnach had a two-run single in a four-run first inning and the Minnesota Twins beat the Cleveland Guardians 5-4 on Sunday to avoid a three-game sweep. Matt Wallner and Royce Lewis also drove in runs in the first against Joey Cantillo (2-2), who struck out a season-high nine over 5 2/3 innings. Kody Clemens' bunt single in the eighth plated DaShawn Keirsey Jr. with an insurance run. The Guardians trailed 5-2 going into the ninth, but Brayan Rocchio's pinch-hit single off Michael Tonkin scored Nolan Jones and C.J. Kayfus. Erasmo Ramírez entered and retired Daniel Schneemann and José Ramírez in order to close out the win. Minnesota snapped a four-game losing streak. Kody Funderburk (2-1) tossed two scoreless innings of relief, and Ramírez earned the save in his first big-league appearance since Aug. 30, 2024, with Tampa Bay. José Ramírez hit a two-run homer in the first and Schneemann had three hits for the second day in a row for Cleveland, which had won four straight. Kayfus doubled for his first hit in the majors, one day after being recalled from Triple-A Columbus.
