Taylor Swift announces new album 'The Life of a Showgirl' in clip from Travis Kelce's podcast — what we know

The clip was shared on Instagram at 12:12 a.m. ET on Aug. 12, a nod to Swift's 12th album. It's been a long time coming … and now we have a title for Taylor Swift's 12th album. The new work, The Life of a Showgirl, was announced on a video clip from the Wednesday, Aug. 13, episode of Travis and Jason Kelce's podcast, New Heights. It was shared on Instagram at 12:12 a.m. ET on Tuesday, Aug. 12, as a nod to Swift's 12th album. In the clip, Swift shows the brothers a record holder, which is mint green with the initials T.S. on it. 'This is my brand-new album, The Life of a Showgirl,' the singer declares, taking out the vinyl, the cover of which is blurred. Swift's website also isn't giving away the cover art, showing only a blurred orange and green image with a lock on it. Fans are able to preorder the vinyl, cassette and CD editions of the new album on the website. Swift has not revealed a track list or even a release date for the album. Her website states that pre-orders will ship out on Oct. 13, but that this is not an official drop date for the new work. While fans will have to wait to learn more about The Life of a Showgirl, the music icon is hitting the ground running on the album rollout. Billboards in Nashville and New York (two places Swift has called home) direct viewers to a Spotify playlist curated by the star titled "And, baby, that's show business for you." The playlist contains 22 songs, all of which were produced by Max Martin and Shellback, prolific pop music producers who worked with Swift on her albums Red, 1989 and Reputation. Fans speculate that the playlist could hint that Swift is reuniting with the team for The Life of a Showgirl. Meanwhile, others are getting in on the fun surrounding Swift's upcoming release. The Empire State Building in New York City was lit up in orange in celebration. And when you search "Taylor Swift" on Google, orange confetti rains down, and a burning heart icon pops up that says "And baby, that's show business for you." Eagle-eyed Swifties first noticed something was in the works with the Eras Tour icon on Aug. 11, when Taylor Nation — the official platform for all things Swift — took to social media to share a post featuring 12 photos of Swift, all in the same shade of orange. The caption of the post was 'Thinking about when she said 'See you next era …'' along with a red heart surrounded by orange flames. Meanwhile, Swift's boyfriend, Travis Kelce, announced that Swift would be the surprise guest on his and his brother Jason Kelce's New Heights podcast episode dropping on Wednesday. The brothers initially hinted that Swift could be joining them in a post Monday afternoon that featured Travis in Swift merch with a sparkly orange background, which fans caught on to immediately. The 12th album marks Swift's first new music release since she announced that she officially owns her first six albums after a lengthy battle over her master recordings. The artist began a rerecording project after she learned in 2019 that her masters were sold to Scooter Braun against her will. Swift went on to release enormously successful 'Taylor's Versions' of her 2008 album, Fearless; her 2010 album, Speak Now; her 2012 album, Red; and her 2014 album, 1989, and now owns the original works as well. 'To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty reserved about it,' Swift wrote in a letter to fans posted on her website when she purchased her masters. 'All I've ever wanted was the opportunity to work hard enough to be able to one day purchase my music outright with no strings attached, no partnership, with full autonomy.' While fans were initially anticipating rerecordings of her 2006 self-titled album and her 2017 album, Reputation, to be among her next releases, Swift instead appears to be focusing on making new music. ‘Alien: Earth' Touches Down Tonight—Here's How to Watch

For showrunner Noah Hawley, the challenge of Alien: Earth wasn't just bringing one of sci-fi's most iconic monsters—the Xenomorph—to television for the first time; it was making sure the FX prequel series, which is set before Ridley Scott's 1979 Alien, wasn't only about the monster. 'I tried to figure out what the first two films [Alien and Aliens] made me feel and why. How can I create those feelings in an audience by telling a totally different story?' Hawley told The Hollywood Reporter in July. 'With Alien: Earth, it has to be a great dramatic show. Then the monsters become this bonus that you get, versus just doing monster action and horror.' Alien: Earth takes the franchise to a new setting—our own planet—and highlights the kind of class power struggles that have always lurked beneath the surface of the Alien films. 'One of the things that Alien is to me is a movie about class. You start the first movie with space truckers, and then the second movie is [Marine] grunts. [Paul Reiser's character] is middle management. There's this sense that class is a real issue as a 1970s thing that came into it. So I wanted to bring that element into this show as well,' Hawley told The Hollywood Reporter. Here's how to tune into the new show. The series kicks off with a two-episode premiere on Tuesday, August 12, at 8 P.M. ET on FX and Hulu. There are eight episodes in total. New installments debut on Tuesdays at 8 P.M. ET on FX and on Hulu at the same time. Check out the full episode release schedule below:

Taylor Swift pulled out pricey accessories to announce her next era, including an $11,400 necklace

Taylor Swift announced her 12th album in a podcast clip released on Tuesday morning. Swift wore luxe jewelry for the occasion, including a Cartier watch and necklace. Diamonds and gold have become staples of the superstar's understated wardrobe. Even in her new era, Taylor Swift remains bejeweled. At 12:12 a.m. on Tuesday, the superstar announced her 12th studio album, "The Life of a Showgirl," in a teaser for the coming episode of "New Heights," a podcast hosted by her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and his brother, Jason Kelce. The full episode will be released on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET. In the clip, Swift looks unexpectedly casual. Her hair is styled in loose waves, her signature red lip has been replaced with an orange hue, and she's wearing a white, button-up blouse. That's because she let her jewelry do all the talking. The flashiest piece she wore for the podcast appearance appears to be a Santos Demoiselle watch from Cartier. The luxury brand doesn't currently sell the model, but it's listed on resale websites at prices between $17,000 and $27,000. Her Panthère de Cartier necklace was a close competitor. It retails for $11,400 and is made with a mix of 18-carat yellow gold, a tsavorite garnet stone, and 19 diamonds. She's worn it before on dates with Travis Kelce in New York City. She also wore an assortment of nondescript rings, a gold bracelet, and a sold-out, tan version of Sandy Liang's Paris skort, which costs $625. Swift, of course, is constantly decked out in extravagant jewels and designer pieces. Many will remember her daring Grammys outfit earlier this year, which included a corseted minidress and a leg chain with a T initial charm. She designed the ruby piece with Lorraine Schwartz. Her wardrobe last year was even more glamorous and was estimated to be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. She wore $108,000 worth of diamond earrings at the 2024 Golden Globes, a $75,000 outfit to a Chiefs game, and $66,000 worth of clothes and accessories for a friend's wedding, among other looks. We don't know the details yet, but something about Swift's coming era seems different — maybe even more relaxed. After all, she announced this new album in a podcast teaser. Her fashion, though, seems to be the same: simple, striking, and undeniably luxe. Read the original article on Business Insider Solve the daily Crossword
