Nga demands apology over MyKiosk ‘white elephant' claims
His statement follows the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) confirmation that no corruption or abuse of power occurred in the programme's implementation.
Nga stressed that the ministry proactively invited MACC to investigate, submitting all relevant documents. 'MACC has since issued a statement confirming that there was no abuse of power, no criminal element, and no corruption involved,' he said during a Dewan Rakyat session. He called on critics to retract their accusations and acknowledge the hard work of civil servants.
The MyKiosk initiative has recorded strong occupancy rates, with MyKiosk 1.0 at 91.75% and MyKiosk 2.0 at 86.78%. The programme has benefited 7,243 traders nationwide, with some reporting significant income growth. A hawker at Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) Square now earns up to RM30,000 monthly, while food and soymilk vendors doubled their income to RM18,000.
To improve accountability, the ministry introduced a 'traffic light' system to evaluate local authorities (PBTs). Green-rated PBTs receive increased allocations, while yellow-rated ones face reviews. Red-rated PBTs risk cancelled funding and reprimands.
Separately, the RM3.5 million Batu Pahat Municipal Council Stadium upgrade is set to begin early next year, focusing on drainage, field resurfacing, and a new running track. - Bernama

KUALA LUMPUR: The government will expand the minimum wage policy to graduates and semi-skilled workers, including those from technical and vocational education and training (TVET) under Masco Code 8 and above. "A comprehensive wage alignment will be accelerated to ensure a fairer and more equitable share of economic gains for workers. "This initiative aims to provide salaries that are commensurate with workers' qualifications and skill levels," he said in the Dewan Rakyat during the tabling of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP).

One million affordable homes to be built from 2026 to 2035, says PM Anwar
KUALA LUMPUR: One million affordable housing units will be developed from 2026 to 2035, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim when tabling the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) in the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (July 31). The Prime Minister said the initiative would involve collaboration between the Federal Government, state governments and private developers. 'This is to ensure as many Malaysians as possible can live in safe and comfortable homes,' he said, citing various initiatives including the Residensi Madani Programme, Public Servants Housing Programme, New Home Construction Assistance Programme, Affordable Housing Programme and Rumah Bakat Madani. Anwar emphasised the government's continued commitment to providing quality, affordable and inclusive housing. 'As of 2025, 180,000 housing units have been completed, and another 235,000 are currently under construction by the government,' he said. However, he acknowledged that mismatches between supply and demand, as well as house prices that remain misaligned with income levels, remain key issues that must be addressed. To this end, he said the government will expand initiatives such as the Housing Credit Guarantee Scheme and the Rent-to-Own (RTO) Scheme, particularly to benefit more low- and middle-income groups seeking home ownership. 'The transition to technologies such as the Industrialised Building System (IBS) and Building Integrated Management (BIM) will accelerate implementation and reduce construction costs, including for public housing,' Anwar added. He also announced plans to replicate the Kota Madani initiative in Putrajaya, developed in partnership with Putrajaya Holdings, as a model for affordable housing that embodies the concept of 'umran hadhari'. 'This concept not only allows the people to own a home, but also to experience life in a city that combines progress with values, modernity with morals, and technology with humanity,' Anwar said.

13MP: Govt to build one million affordable homes by 2035
PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today reaffirmed the government's commitment to provide quality, affordable, and inclusive housing for all Malaysians, with plans to build one million affordable units between 2026 and 2035. 'As of 2025, a total of 492,000 housing units have been completed or are under construction by the government,' he said while tabling the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) in Parliament. 'However, issues such as the mismatch between housing demand and supply, and property prices that do not align with income levels, continue to persist and must be addressed effectively,' he said. The new housing target will be met through various initiatives, including the Residensi Madani programme, the Public Servants Housing Programme, the New House Construction Assistance Scheme, and affordable housing projects spearheaded by state governments and private developers. To help more Malaysians – especially those in the B40 and M40 income groups – own homes, Anwar said the Housing Credit Guarantee Scheme will be expanded. He also said that the transition to construction technologies such as the Industrialised Building System and Building Integrated Management will accelerate project delivery and reduce costs, especially for public housing. Anwar also said that Kota Madani in Putrajaya, a public-private collaboration, will be used as a model for affordable housing going forward. 'This model reflects the urbanisation concept of 'Umran Hadhari', which enables the people not only to own a home but to enjoy life in a city that blends progress with values, modernity with ethics, and technology with humanity,' he said. [2:15 pm, 31/07/2025] Surach theSun: 13MP: Empowering families and vulnerable groups through social and economic reforms MAHADHIR MONIHULDIN newsdesk@ PETALING JAYA: The government will be introducing the KASIH Keluarga Negara national agenda to strengthen family institutions. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the agenda includes strengthening the role of men as leaders, protectors, defenders, educators, and primary breadwinners of the family. To help support the rise of women entering the workforce to 60%, including women with children, Anwar said the government will build quality care centres and provide appropriate training. 'The government is also attentive to the educational needs of people with disabilities (OKU). 'As of June 2025, nearly 171,000 children with disabilities have been recorded as having learning difficulties, including children with autism. 'Therefore, initiatives will continue to expand special education facilities and capacity for these vulnerable groups across the country. 'This includes building educational facilities for children with autism in every state capital,' he said during the tabling of the 13th Malaysia Plan (MP13) in Dewan Rakyat today. As for senior citizens, Orang Asli, and persons with disabilities in the labor market, Anwar said adequate support and training will be provided through the Akademi Dalam Industri (ADI), the National OKU Action Plan, and incentives for employers. 'At the same time, the mandatory retirement age will be reviewed to align with the transition to an ageing nation,' he said. Meanwhile, Anwar said the government will also empower the third sector so that it can work alongside the government in enabling targeted and vulnerable groups. This sector has the potential to provide inclusive and localised opportunities in entrepreneurship, employment, and skills training. 'The resilience of the third sector will be strengthened through the provision of training and advisory services,' he said. 'Alternative financing sources for this sector will also be expanded through social sukuk, waqf funds, zakat, crowdfunding, and blended financing, including the involvement of GLCs, GLICs, and the private sector, as well as strengthening the cooperative movement,' he added.
