Thug Life box office collection Day 3: Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam's latest collaboration Thug Life is struggling at the box office. After a drop of 53.87% in collections from Day 1 to Day 2, the gangster drama earned Rs 7.14 crore on Day 3 of its release, according to trade tracker Sacnik.
On Saturday, Thug Life earned Rs 6.38 crore from the Tamil version, while the Hindi and Telugu versions brought in Rs 0.24 crore and Rs 0.52 crore, respectively. By the end of Day 3, the film's total box office collection stood at approximately Rs 29.79 crore.
The Mani Ratnam film's Tamil version had an overall occupancy of 39.12% on Saturday. The movie drew stronger footfall during evening and night shows.
The producers of Thug Life had earlier decided that the movie would not be released in Karnataka. The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) had said it would not let Thug Life release unless Kamal Haasan apologised for his 'Kannada was born out of Tamil' remar at a promotional event in Chennai. The actor's banner Raajkamal Films International filed a plea before the Karnataka High Court seeking protection for the release of the film. After a rap from the court over the remark, the producers made the decision to not screen the movie in Karnataka.
The gangster drama is directed by Mani Ratnam and produced by Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies. Thug Life also stars Trisha Krishnan, T.R. Silambarasan, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, and Mahesh Manjrekar in key roles.

AA22A6: Deepika Padukone as The Witcher? AI image resurfaces after casting in Atlee-Allu Arjun film

As Deepika Padukone picks up her sword and gets ready to play the role of a warrior queen, an AI-generated image of the beauty has resurfaced on social media. The picture, shared by a fan handle back in 2024, reimagined her as a fierce female Witcher. The picture was posted online with the caption, "You asked for it! Deepika is a Witcher!" This comes just hours after the official announcement of her casting as the female lead in Atlee's next big project with Allu Arjun was announced on Saturday. The viral image depicts Deepika in a leather and iron clad outfit with a breastplate, giving her the perfect warrior look. With piercing eyes she wears her hair down in loose waves, much like Henry Cavill 's character of Geralt of Rivia. While not officially linked to the film, the timing of the AI artwork and the project's epic scale teased in the announcement clip, has sparked speculation about Deepika's role in the high-octane sci-fi film tentatively titled Project AA22 x A6. On Saturday, the makers dropped an announcement video, showcasing director Atlee and Deepika in discussion. The video later shows the actress getting into prep mode as she picks up a sword and swings an axe while prepping for her action-packed role. When not in her armour, DP was seen in a motion-capture suit, riding a mechanical horse, suggesting epic battle scenes set to unfold in this new film. Director Atlee, in a press note, praised the actress, saying, 'Collaborating with Deepika Padukone ma'am on Jawan was incredible—her range, power, and grace shine in every frame. She drives the story. Now, with her and Allu Arjun sir together, we're creating something truly unforgettable—real filmmaker's dream synergy.' Backing the grand vision, Sun Pictures added, 'Having Deepika Padukone on board elevates this project to a whole new level. She brings gravitas, star power, and an unmatched presence that will leave a lasting impact. With Atlee's vision, Allu Arjun's magnetic energy, and Deepika's commanding brilliance, we're creating something iconic for audiences across the globe.' While plot details remain under wraps, Deepika's pairing with Allu Arjun has generated major buzz, both in Bollywood and pan-India cinema circles. Aamir Khan recalls nearly collaborating with Mani Ratnam on an adaptation of Ismat Chughtai's short story: ‘I still hope that one day…'

Despite being two of the most celebrated figures in contemporary Indian cinema and sharing a warm bond, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and acclaimed filmmaker Mani Ratnam have never collaborated to date. Although they have met on numerous occasions and even discussed potential projects, things never quite materialised as they had hoped. Recently, Aamir opened up about a time they nearly worked together, having zeroed in on a story, but the project fell through at the last moment. In a recent interview, he revealed that they were keen on adapting legendary Indian Urdu writer Ismat Chughtai's short story Gharwali (The Homewife) into a film centred around its protagonist, Lajjo. 'I have always been a huge fan of Mani Ratnam and always wanted to work with him. I've met him many times as well. I've been to his house, and we've had wonderful conversations. Both of us have wanted to work with each other. We almost worked together in Lajjo. But that didn't work out for three reasons; it had nothing to do with him or me,' he shared during a chat with Galatta Plus. Praising Mani Ratnam, Aamir added, 'I'm a very big admirer of his work. I still hope that one day, he and I will work together.' A spiritual successor to the actor's Taare Zameen Par, which also marked his directorial debut, Sitaare Zameen Par is produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit. It also features Genelia Deshmukh, Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishnan Varma, Vedant Sharmaa, Naman Misra and Rishi Shahani in key roles. Aamir was last seen in director Advait Chandan's critical and commercial failure Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), a remake of the 1994 American film Forrest Gump. Mani Ratnam is currently facing significant backlash following the release of his latest film, the Kamal Haasan-starrer Thug Life, which opened to negative responses from the audience. Also starring Silambarasan, Trisha Krishnan and Abhirami, the movie marked Mani and Kamal's first movie collaboration in 37 years since Nayakan (1987).
