Suspect arrested for vandalism of Sri Gading MP's vehicle
Batu Pahat police chief Asst Comm Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani confirmed the incident, which occurred at around 11am on Saturday (May 10).
"The 37-year-old suspect rode a motorcycle to the Sri Gading parliamentary service centre at Parit Yaani, where he vandalised the parked vehicle.
"Based on investigation and further action, police arrested the suspect at a house in the Tongkang Pechah area at around 3pm on the same day," he said on Sunday (May 11).
ACP Shahrulanuar Mushaddat added that police seized several items from the suspect, including the motorcycle, clothes, and tools allegedly used in vandalising the MPV.
He said the suspect tested positive for drugs, but further background checks found he has no prior records.
The suspect is under remand until this Wednesday (May 14) to assist with the investigation under Section 427 of the Penal Code and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
Earlier, Aminolhuda said he received the bad news after welcoming his newborn 12th grandchild from his service centre chief of staff at around 11am on Saturday (May 10).
"What is the sin of this old MPV? The car was donated by my wife for the use of my office staff since I won the Parit Yaani state seat in the 13th general election," he said.
Aminolhuda, also Johor Pakatan Harapan and state Amanah chairman, added that the damage to the MPV was worth thousands of ringgit after the vandal broke the vehicle's rear windscreen and left several cracks on the front windshield.
"The vandal used a hammer to leave 17 dents all over the MPV, including breaking the two side mirrors and the back lights," he said.
He added that the MPV holds many memories for his children and the people within the Parit Yaani state constituency between 2013 and 2022.
"We decided to continue using the MPV when I was elected as Sri Gading MP to manage the people's welfare here," he said.
Aminolhuda added that his office has lodged a report on the matter and urged the police to carry out an investigation to find those responsible.

Man torches city council tow truck after failing to pay compound
JOHOR BARU: In a fit of anger, a motorist set fire to a Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) tow truck after he was unable to pay a compound for his towed car. Although no one was injured in the incident on Aug 15, damages to the council's vehicle were estimated at about RM10,000. The 31-year-old suspect allegedly poured petrol and torched the truck inside the MBJB impound at Johor Baru Waterfront around 11.07am, a day after his Perodua Axia was seized. Johor Baru (South) police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said closed-circuit television footage led the police to the man, who was arrested at 1.06pm the same day. Police also seized an aluminium canister and a lighter believed to have been used in the arson. "Checks showed the suspect had a prior drug-related record. However, his urine test came back negative. "He has been remanded for five days until Aug 19," Raub said in a statement today. The case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire, which carries a penalty of up to seven years' jail and a fine. Raub warned that taking the law into one's own hands was a serious offence that endangered lives, property and public order. He urged the public to resolve grievances through legal channels instead of "acting outside the bounds of the law."

Man nabbed after threatening doctor at Ampang hospital
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a man for allegedly threatening and hurling abusive language at a doctor on duty at the Emergency Department of a hospital in Ampang. Ampang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said the 61-year-old man was detained by a team from the district headquarters' Criminal Investigation Division (CID) in Cheras at about 2.20pm on Wednesday. "The incident took place a day earlier, on Tuesday at 1.15pm, when the complainant, a 30-year-old doctor, was on duty at the triage counter. "Checks revealed that the suspect has three prior criminal records," he said in a statement. Azam said the suspect had been dissatisfied after missing his clinic appointment and being given a new date, and allegedly shouted profanities before attempting to lunge at the doctor and strike him in the face. "The suspect has since been released on bail pending further action. The investigation papers will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor's office this week for further instructions," he said. The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation, and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act for indecent behaviour likely to cause a breach of the peace. If convicted, Section 506 provides for imprisonment of up to seven years, a fine, or both, while Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 carries a maximum jail term of three months, a fine of up to RM100, or both.
