Beauty brand House of Makeup expands portfolio with launch of Hot Glossip

Direct-to-consumer beauty brand House of Makeup has expanded its product portfolio with the launch of a new lip gloss range 'Hot Glossip'.
The Hot Glossip range is available in five shades namely Pinky Swear, What's the Tea, Juicy Secrets, Berry Discreet, and Naked Truth.
The brand claims that its new lip gloss range has been created using potent ingredients like hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, and natural oils.
Commenting on the launch, Harlin Sachdeva, founder CEO of House of Makeup in a statement said, 'We wanted to create a gloss that doesn't stick and feels comfortable on lips. Most gloss products in the market don't address pigmented or double-toned Indian lips. Hot Glossip takes care of this with its pigment-rich formula that evenly coats lips. It's the perfect mix of juicy comfort and shine, giving your lips a glossy, hydrated look without the sticky mess.'
The Hot Glossip range priced at Rs 599 ($7) will be available for purchase on the brand's website and e-commerce platforms.

Cork's Dacent Munch duo take over Fox & Hound bar in latest venture

Northside brothers Liam and Ciarn Horgan have seen their venture Dacent Munch grow from a modest covid-era food truck into a beloved local food brand. What began with lockdown queues so long they drew attention from gardaí has since evolved into two thriving brick-and-mortar locations in their home turf of Mayfield and Carrigaline. However, the entrepreneurial duo says this is just the beginning of its ambitious expansion, having already signed the lease for its third location. Its latest project will see the brothers take over the landmark Fox & Hounds bar in Ballyvolane, located just a stone's throw away from Liam and Ciarn's homeplace. The Fox & Hounds, which straddles the current city/county divide, comprises almost 4,500sq ft and is just 3km from the city centre. In 2017, it entered the market for €2.5m, having sold publicly in 2004 for €4m, featuring as one of the biggest Cork suburban bar sales of the period. 'We signed the lease knowing it offered a massive opportunity for us,' Liam told the Irish Examiner, with the new location bringing the business's total staff count to 40 people. Diversifying their brand, the Dacent Munch duo will rename the bar 'Grá Mo Chroi', which it hopes to reopen before the end of summer. 'We're currently working on some fairly big renovations, but we're aiming to be open for the August bank holiday weekend,' said Liam. The older of the two brothers said it would operate exclusively as a pub in the beginning, with future plans to expand its offering to food and establish a third Dacent Munch spot. The Fox & Hounds, which straddles the current city/county divide, comprises almost 4,500 sq ft and is just 3km from the city centre. The popular food brand was born in 2020 with the opening of a food van on the Old Youghal Road. Its popularity saw the establishment of its first brick-and-mortar in late 2021, located in Mayfield Shopping Centre. Continued success saw the business expand outside of its native northside, opening its second premises in Carrigaline at the end of 2024. Located on the town's Main Street, its Carrigaline restaurant boasts a wider offering, with a full bar licence, live music and sporting events. Despite the business's success, Liam says it has not been without its challenges. 'It's been a learning curve. Thankfully, we've become quite good at taking advice, which was definitely needed in the early days. It's been tough at times, but we learn as we go, and we're looking forward to the future. 'The Carrigaline opening was a baptism of fire. There were good days and bad days, but things are going well, and we're now looking towards our largest venture yet.' Liam said rising costs continue to weigh on the business, with very few hospitality operators immune to recent shocks. "It has not been an easy five years. Something ends and another thing begins. We opened the Mayfield unit just before Russia invaded Ukraine, so immediately we saw our energy costs skyrocket. When fuel prices rise, so does everything else. Since first opening the food van back in 2020, the price of our main ingredient, minced beef, has increased by 75%. "Margins are extremely tight and we've seen so many food businesses close through no fault of their own." Yet, despite the challenging conditions restaurants are forced to operate in, Liam says he and his brother have not been dissuaded from their own ambitions. "When we first told people we were opening a new premises, we were asked if we were mad. We look at it a different way. Times are tough but we are confident." But its expansion doesn't stop there, he said. "We ultimately want Dacent Munch to be its own franchise. Whether that's done exclusively through us, or we get other partners on board, remains to be decided. "We've already looked at a few units in the city centre, where we imagine having a similar model as our Carrigaline unit, but we're also looking at other suburbs across Cork where would be looking to open a more takeaway style unit like our Mayfield spot." "We have ambitious plans, but we're committed to seeing them through." Read More Cork food firm Ingredient Solutions opens new €15m cheese production facility

King Charles assembles Hollywood and football royalty for star-studded awards

The King welcomed the likes of former England football captain David Beckham and Oscar winners Kate Winslet and Meryl Streep to St James' Palace today The King has been heralded as a "pioneer and a visionary" in his crusade to protect traditional crafts and the environment at an awards ceremony for his foundation. The monarch assembled an A-list cast of supporters to celebrate those at the forefront of sustainability, traditional heritage crafts and environmental education throughout the UK. The King welcomed former England football captain, David Beckham, soon to be knighted as part of the King's birthday honours, as well as other ambassadors and friends of his foundation including Oscar winners Kate Winslet and Meryl Streep alongside model and presenter Penny Lancaster and French TV chef Raymond Blanc. ‌ ‌ Former Manchester United and England superstar Beckham, who became an ambassador for the foundation last year, bowed his head and greeted the King with 'Your Majesty' as the monarch made his way down a line of supporters before the event at St James's Palace today. Charles, 76, stopped to talk to model Lancaster, married to rock star Rod Stewart, who told the King she had been keeping bees on their Scottish estate. Winslet, described by royal aides as 'a friend of the foundation' was overheard telling the King 'don't worry, I've got your back'. Royal sources suggested the British actor may bolster her role as a supporter of the charity in the future. As Royal Founding President of the charity, The King was on hand to celebrate the foundation's 35th anniversary at the event as well as recognising the incredible talent and work of the charity's students, graduates and partners across sustainability, traditional heritage crafts and environmental education. He met the winners to congratulate them on their awards after competing for the prize in eight individual categories alongside hundreds of other entrants. Other celebrity supporters at the event included tv presenters Sarah Beeny, Alan Titchmarsh and Stanley Tucci. ‌ The foundation today revealed it has to date trained more than 115,000 students in traditional crafts and environmental education over its 35-year tenure, welcomed more than 2.5million visitors to its UK destinations, and positively affected more than 500,000 lives through sustainable urban planning. King's Foundation ambassador Penny Lancaster praised the monarch for his vision for creating the awards and highlighting the needs of the planet throughout his adult life. She said: "We all know that the King has been the forefront and sort of marching us all along for more than 50 years, he's been an absolute pioneer and visionary in that sense. ‌ 'These awards and indeed the foundation is so important because of the role they have in not only protecting these traditional crafts and the environment but also giving the winners such an incredible platform to go and achieve great things. 'The King may have been accused of hugging trees and people thinking he was mad when he started talking about the environment all that time ago, but he was at the forefront then and now has been proved right with everything he said and now we're all just trying to play catch up. 'I really recognise the beauty in the way he is trying to get us on board with his knowledge and if we can pass that on to the younger generation, and save some of the traditional skills like we've seen with these winners today, we can all be a part of making a difference. ‌ 'I think the mistake is when we say, well, there's such a huge job ahead of us that we could give up, but where's the hope about and confidence that we can pull together to not make it such a mammoth task, there is real hope for the future.' The Emerging Talent award, presented to an individual who has shown exceptional talent and commitment while on a King's Foundation programme, went to Emily Hurst. Emily has recently completed the CHANEL and King's Foundation Métiers d'Art Fellowship in Millinery, based at Highgrove Gardens. In her final year of university, she independently learned the heritage craft of straw braiding to produce historically accurate hats, a skill that has since become central to her practice. ‌ 'In my final year at university, I discovered the craft of straw making and fell in love with it. I found out it was an endangered craft and then my tutors put me in touch with the King's foundation. 'Working at Highgrove was absolutely the best place to be, surrounded by so much inspiration from His Majesty's garden andlearning from some of the best milliners with country, I'm so incredibly honoured.' ‌ Winner of the Young Entrepreneur award went to Barnaby Horn for developing his own business after honing his traditional milliner skills also on the CHANEL and King's Foundation Métiers d'Art Fellowship in Millinery, based at Highgrove Gardens. Known for his exploration of gender through playing with familiar shapes and historic cultural references, in 2023 he launched his namesake label 'Barnaby Horn'. Judges said Barnaby 'has an experimental approach to millinery and is dedicated to developing a mastery in the traditions of the craft'. He said: 'After having lots of different jobs after university, including being a writer and working as a drag queen, I eventually went to the Royal College of Art to study millinery as a master's. ‌ 'I realised that hats had potential to be artefacts of storytelling and I also wanted to be able to make work that was sculptural and tell stories while I was physically not in the room. 'There's a lot of my work that is poetry, performance or something that involves dance, so I wanted to create work that could embody characters, and obviously the head is such a sensitive place, like a location of dreams and the continuation of storytelling that I love.' ‌ The King's Foundation is a charity founded by King Charles III and was first formed in 1990. His Majesty is Royal Founding President of the charity. Inspired by the vision and values of His Majesty, the Foundation builds and supports communities where people, places and the planet can coexist in harmony. ‌ The charity offers education courses for almost 15,000 students annually, health and wellbeing programmes for nearly 2,000 people every year, and spearheads placemaking and regeneration projects in the UK and overseas to revitalise communities and historic buildings. The King's Foundation is headquartered at its flagship regeneration project, Dumfries House in Ayrshire, Scotland, and acts as custodian of other historic Royal sites including the Castle of Mey in Caithness, Scotland, and Highgrove Gardens in Gloucestershire. The Foundation also carries out its work at educational and cultural hubs in London, based at The King's Foundation School for Traditional Arts in Shoreditch, Trinity Buoy Wharf on the River Thames and the Garrison Chapel in Chelsea. In addition to its UK presence, the Foundation delivers programmes and projects in over a dozen sites worldwide.

Gio van Bronckhorst to land Liverpool job under Arne Slot as Premier League champions go double dutch

The former Rangers manager is set to replace Johnny Heitinga on the Anfield coaching staff after his departure to Ajax Giovanni van Bronckhorst is set to join Arne Slot's coaching staff at Liverpool. The former Rangers boss is poised to return to the dugout for the first time since leaving Besiktas last year, with the English Premier League champions to add him to Slot's staff as an assistant to his compatriot and fellow Feyenoord coaching alumni. ‌ The Reds started the search after Johnny Heitinga left this summer to take the manager's job and former club Ajax. ‌ And Slot is set to go Dutch again by bringing van Bronckhorst into the fold. Former Everton man Heitinga proved a popular figure in the Anfield dressing room, working under slot for just over a year. But the chance to take over at his hometown team in Amsterdam was too big to turn down and he was appointed after previous boss Francesco Farioli stepped down following a final day collapse that saw Ajax miss out on the Eredivise title by a point to PSV. Now van Bronckhorst, who was in the Ibrox hotseat for a year before being sacked in November 2022 for slipping too far behind Celtic, is set for a return to football with the Merseyside club. The Dutchman was replaced at Rangers by Steven Gerrard's former assistant and ex-Liverpool academy coach Michael Beale, with many feeling in hindsight that van Bronckhorst was harshly treated by the Gers hierarchy. ‌ Van Bronckhorst began his career at Feyenoord before joining the Light Blues in 1998. After three years in Govan, he joined Arsenal before making the move to Barcelona, the finishing his playing career back at Feyenoord. He became the boss at De Kuip in 2015 and led the Rotterdam club to their first Eredivise title for 18 years in 2016.
