The New Orleans Saints brought in former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to be their next head coach this offseason, which means fans can expect to see at least some similarities to the Eagles offense next year.
That really brings one specific play to mind: the tush push. One of the NFL's most controversial plays ever, Philadelphia has been using it to almost automatically win short-yardage situations for the last few years. Many teams have tried to replicate it, but with little success.
If there was anyone that would have some insight into how to pull it off, though, it would be the former offensive coordinator. Moore didn't invent the tush push but he did see it firsthand in Philadelphia.
Before ever getting a chance to run it with the Saints, though, the play almost got banned this offseason. The Green Bay Packers submitted a proposal at the spring meeting that needed 24 votes to pass. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the final vote was 22-10, meaning the play lives on. Moore will be able to bring it to New Orleans, if he so wishes.
It isn't a 100% given that the coach will have the Saints run it this year, though.
"I don't know, we'll see. Obviously, I think other teams have tried to replicate it and have not had success. It's a huge investment to execute that play at a really high level, and ]the Eagles] put a lot of time and effort into it," said Moore per Locked On Saints host Ross Jackson.

For just the fifth time in their 93-year history, the Philadelphia Eagles will enter the regular season as the defending champions. Three titles preceded the 1966 NFL/AFL merger (1948, 1949, 1960). They've added two Vince Lombardi Trophies to the shelf after winning Super Bowl 52 and 59. These young Birds fans certainly haven't gotten spoiled, haven't they? Most don't know the anguish of enduring Leonard Tose. They don't remember Bryce Paup shredding Randall Cunningham's knee. Three consecutive NFC Championship Games are foreign, and so is a depressing Fog Bowl. Young Eagles fans never had to endure seeing Reggie White leave, and you know what? The older guard ought to be thankful that they didn't. It would be cruel to wish that type of pain on anyone. This is one of the best eras of football this organization has seen, and there's still reason for more optimism. Pro Football Focus would undoubtedly agree with that last point. They recently offered a refreshing take, 'One reason for optimism for every team ahead of the 2025 NFL season'. As we know, Philadelphia has several, but it's hard to argue with the answer that PFF provided. How about a round of applause for the Eagles' loaded roster? There's plenty of content to wade through following Eagles OTAs and their single-day minicamp. Thank Dalton Wasserman for providing a nice distraction as we take a break before training camp begins in July. Philadelphia tacked an extension on the end of Saquon Barkley's current deal. Most of their young roster is locked up for the foreseeable future. They have young stars on an excellent defense. All are great reasons why Wasserman lists a 'stacked roster's return as cause for Birds fans to rest easy and smile broadly. Here's his explanation. "Philadelphia ran roughshod through the NFL last season en route to its second Super Bowl victory. This year's edition of the Eagles is poised to defend their title, returning 20 of their 25 players who led the team in snaps last season. Their defense, which paced the NFL in PFF grade last season, took most of the damage but returns stars such as Jalen Carter, Zack Baun, Quinyon Mitchell, and Cooper DeJean. The Eagles boast the best roster in the NFL heading into this season." This isn't the first time we've heard praise heaped on the Eagles' talent. The kudos are well deserved. Let's do some brief inventory. Their quarterback is the reigning Super Bowl MVP, and despite losing his first appearance in the big game, he has outplayed Patrick Mahomes on the big stage twice. Barkley is the reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year. Philadelphia has the game's best one-two punch at wide receiver. They're also home to the game's best offensive line and a defense that is young and hungry, one led by one of the game's top defensive minds. Their owner is phenomenal. Howie Roseman is the best in the business. The fan support is otherworldly. One can certainly do a lot worse than being an Eagles fan. This season, Philadelphia tackles one of pro football's most demanding and challenging schedules, but they are armed well enough to handle the task of what will be a gauntlet. They return six Pro Bowlers (they should have had more). They return six All-Pros. Make no mistake. They'll be up to the challenge.

Brian Dawkins will always be our superhero. Hmm... Come to think of it, we all may be able to make a few guarantees after all. Here's one we can place money on. Never will you ever see Nick Wright or Chris Simms at Chickie's & Pete's or an Eagles victory parade. They're more likely to end up on a wanted list posted around the city, but every once in a while, they both surprise us. In May, Simms broke character by talking about how great this Eagles team is. Don't worry. It didn't last. He was back to bashing Jalen Hurts a week or so later. Recently, he released the annual quarterback ranking he does. The reigning Super Bowl MVP barely cracked the top ten. Somehow, he landed behind some questionable entries. Don't take anyone else's word for it. Take a look for yourselves. This one caused quite the stir, as you might expect, but the conversations haven't ended. This story comes with a twist, however. You'll never guess who came to Jalen Hurts' defense. Nick Wright does the rare 180 with his recent defense of Jalen Hurts This has to be an episode of The Twilight Zone. It's either that or Nick Wright is luring us in for some Judas-level of betrayal. Don't take the bait, but if you're interested, here's something worth tossing out for fodder. FS1's First Things First dedicated a portion of its broadcast recently to picking apart Simms' QB ranking. The Jalen Hurts defense came from the most unlikely of sources. Very rarely will you hear this, but it seems warranted in this sense. Wright may have made a couple of points here. Often, there's a tendency to crush him when he swings wildly and strikes out. Here's a pat on the back for something well thought out. Please don't get used to it. He'll probably be back to bashing Jalen by the end of the month. Wright probably won't be seen in any press boxes at Lincoln Financial Field anytime soon. Give him credit for this one, though. He still isn't hitting any home runs, but at least he's contacting the ball and getting on base.

Andre Drummond expresses confidence in Sixers for 2025-26 season The Philadelphia 76ers were expected to contend for a championship in the 2024-25 season after making some big additions to the roster. President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey and his staff put together a star-studded roster led by Paul George, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey. However, the Sixers were decimated by injuries. The injury bug went through the entire roster and they were unable to have much success due to a lack of cohesion and consistent offense on the floor. Therefore, Philadelphia finished 24-58 and have the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NBA draft. Big man Andre Drummond, one of those big additions in the 2024 offseason, was limited by a big toe injury as he played only 40 games. He averaged 7.3 points and 7.8 rebounds in 2024-25 and is expected to return for 2025-26 on a $5 million player option. Drummond hopped on "On Par with Maury Povich" and discussed the season while also expressing confidence that the Sixers will bounce back in 2025-26: Listen, it was, uh… Injury bug was definitely alive for our team. And I don't want Philadelphia to lose hope in this team. I think our team is very well structured. I think we have the pieces to be very good. I think once everybody gets healthy and is able to play the full season, I think our team is going to be very scary. We have more than enough. We have more than enough to be a great team. I think it's just going to come down to health and how we approach our summer and how we're going to take care of our bodies and come back better than we were the year before. To Drummond's point, as long as the Sixers are healthy, they should be in the mix to contend in 2025-26. There is too much talent on this roster to flop as long as they can stay healthy. That's certainly a big *if* for this roster, but the talent is there on paper and should allow Philadelphia to bounce back in the future.
