Two students drown in Kolar dam, bodies retrieved after 18-hour search

The bodies were retrieved by the State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF) on Monday morning, nearly 18 hours after the incident. The deceased have been identified as Prince Rajput (22) from Bihar and Ujjwal Tripathi (20) from Chhatarpur.
According to police, both students were pursuing B Pharma at private colleges in Bhopal. Prince was living in a rented room in MP Nagar, and Ujjwal was staying in Ashoka Garden. The video footage shows the group bathing and playing in the water before three students drift into deeper waters. One of them is seen frantically paddling to safety, while the other two disappear beneath the surface.
Police and SDERF teams were informed and began a search operation late Sunday evening, which continued into the night.
The bodies were finally retrieved around 11:55 am on Monday and were sent for postmortem in Bilkisganj. Following the examination, Prince's body will be sent to Bihar and Ujjwal's to Chhatarpur.
In a follow-up to Sunday's monsoon-related incidents, rescue teams in Sehore district have so far retrieved three bodies out of five people swept away in two separate incidents. Search operations resumed early Monday, with teams continuing efforts to locate two missing individuals.

Two arrested with ganja in separate incidents
Thiruvananthapuram: In two different incidents, Venjaramoodu police arrested two persons with small quantities of ganja on Tuesday night. The arrested persons were identified as Prince, 21, of Thadatharikathu Veedu near Alanthara at Nellanad and Sunil Kumar, 45, of Charuvila Puthanveedu near Vellumannadi at Vattayam near Pullampara. Prince was arrested from near Munnooru bus stop with 5gm of ganja and Sunil from near Samanwaya Nagar with 6gm. Police said that both the men were apprehended while they were waiting for some people to hand over the drug. Seeing the police, the accused tried to escape, but during examination, the drug was seized from their pockets. Police said that both the men have been arrested earlier as well in drug cases. Rakshabandhan horror: Dog walker accused of raping five-year-old girl in Rajkot apartment
Rajkot: A five-year-old girl was sexually assaulted, allegedly by a 17-year-old boy in a residential apartment on the 150-ft Ring Road on the day of Rakshabandhan. The heinous crime came to light on Monday when the accused, a native of Nepal, was detained following a complaint lodged at the University police station by the survivor's father, who works as a watchman in the apartment. Preliminary investigation revealed that both families, the girl's and the accused's, are originally from Nepal and have been working in Rajkot for many years. On the night of Aug 9, the girl's father went to his cousin sister's house for Rakshabandhan. However, he rushed home after receiving a call from his wife, who told him that their daughter was missing. They searched for her, but she was nowhere to be seen. After a while, the teenager brought the minor to their house, saying he had taken her to his employer's house for dinner. However, the girl was crying and traumatised. Upon asking, the minor told them that she was subjected to misconduct. On Monday, the girl was rushed to the hospital after she experienced severe pain in her abdomen. Investigation officer Haresh Patel told TOI: "The accused boy has been living with the current employer for the last 13 years. He has been taking care of the employer's dog and working at a grocery store." Civil judge aspirant missing from Narmada Express, search on
Bhopal: A 28-year-old woman preparing for the civil judge exam went missing from the Indore–Bilaspur Narmada Express Thursday, prompting a massive search operation that has now shifted to the Narmada river near Kharraghat. Authorities fear she may have fallen from a bridge between Budhni and Narmadapuram on Aug 7 night. The woman, a resident of Katni, had boarded coach B3 in Indore to visit her family for "Raksha Bandhan". When the train reached Katni, she was not on board. Her phone was switched off, and a missing person report was lodged with Katni GRP. Railway police said she was last seen by passengers at Bhopal railway station, and her phone's last location was also traced there. CCTV footage from multiple stations failed to yield any clue. A passenger seated below her berth told police that around 11.30 pm, she climbed down, brushed against his leg, apologised, and walked towards the toilet. She never returned. The family believes this was when the train was passing over the Narmada bridge. On Sunday, the woman's relatives reached Narmadapuram from Katni as the State Disaster Emergency Response Force began a river search at 11 am. Searches were on till filing of this report.
