An interfaith Eid Milan Party was hosted at the Naulakha Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, aiming to promote harmony, mutual respect and understanding among religious communities.
The event was hosted by Reverend Dr Majid Abel, with Punjab Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora as the chief guest.
The gathering brought together religious scholars and leaders from various communities, social organisations, and government representatives.
Reverend Abel emphasised that the Naulakha Presbyterian Church has always stood for love, tolerance and mutual respect among all religions. He urged the society to collectively work towards a future free from discrimination based on colour, race or religion.
In his address, Minister Ramesh Singh Arora reaffirmed the Punjab government's commitment to interfaith peace and harmony. "We are committed to ensuring that people of all faiths feel safe, respected and valued," he added.
The speakers highlighted the importance of unity, religious tolerance and mutual respect. They also paid tribute to the Pakistan Army's successful execution of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, recognising its role in securing peace and national integrity.

PHOTOS: NNI /INP The nation celebrated Independence Day across Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Thursday with national zeal, enthusiasm, and a renewed pledge to uphold the spirit of the Pakistan Movement and build the country into a true welfare state. This year's celebrations also marked Pakistan's victory over India in the Marka-e-Haq in May. On the occasion, President Asif Ali Zardari conferred awards on military commanders and officials in recognition of their services during the four-day conflict. The day dawned with 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salutes in each of the four provincial capitals. Special prayers were offered in mosques after Fajr prayers for peace, solidarity, and prosperity of the country. The main flag hoisting ceremony was held at Pakistan Monument where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hoisted the national flag. Similar ceremonies were held in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta and other big and small cities and towns. In a message, President Zardari said that nation celebrated the Independence Day with a sense of renewed pride and hope as recently the nation had reaffirmed its strength, resolve, and unity in the face of external aggression. "Our success in Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyanum Marsoos is a landmark moment in our history. It was a demonstration of unshakable national will, professional excellence, and united purpose," the president said. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his sincere invitation to all political parties and segments of the society to join hands with them in strengthening their resolve to safeguard the national interests. "In this way, we can collectively make our nation successful and prosper to help realise the dream of our forefathers and martyrs, which they had envisioned in the form of establishment of Pakistan." Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Governor Kamran Khan Tessori paid a visit to the mausoleum of the founder of Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on the Independence Day Marka-e-Haq celebrations. An impressive change of guard ceremony was held at mausoleum of 'Muffakir-e-Pakistan' Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal. Acting Punjab Governor Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan also visited Iqbal's mausoleum, laid a wreath and offered Fateha. A dignified flag-hoisting ceremony was held at Governor House, Peshawar, on the occasion of Pakistan's Independence Day, with Governor Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi performing the flag hoisting. In Balochistan, flag hoisting ceremony was held in Quetta where Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti along with Speaker Balochistan Assembly Abdul Khaliq Achakzai hoisted the National Flag. In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq hoisted the flag at a ceremony in Muzaffarabad. The main event in Gilgit Baltistan took place at Chinar Bagh, where Gilgit-Baltistan Minister for Home Affairs Shams Lone hoisted the national flag, laid floral wreaths at the Martyrs' Monument and offered Fateha. Heroes honoured Later in the day, President Zardari conferred top civil and military awards on national leaders, military commanders and government officials in recognition of their services during Marka-e-Haq at a ceremony held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr. Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir received the Hilal-e-Jurat for leading Pakistan Army from the front and formulating war strategy, while Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu was awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz. Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, were conferred the Nishan-e-Imtiaz, and DG ISI Lt Gen Asim Malik was awarded the Sitara-e-Basalat. Director General Military Operations (DGMO) of Pakistan Major General Kashif Abdullah, Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb Ahmed, and Rear Admiral Shahzad Hamid received the Tamgha-e-Basalat. Among the political leadership, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Head of Parliamentary Diplomatic Committee, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, and the PM's adviser Rana Sanaullah were presented Nishan-e-Imtiaz. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, ministers and parliamentarians Ahsan Iqbal, Sherry Rehman, Faisal Sabzwari, Musadik Malik, and Hina Rabbani Khar, along with Tariq Fatemi and Khurram Dastgir Khan, were also decorated with top civil awards. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar received Nishan-e-Imtiaz for effectively projecting Pakistan's national narrative internationally during the escalation, countering Indian propaganda and ensuring a coordinated civil-military information strategy. The president conferred military awards on officers, soldiers of armed forces for their conspicuous courage and supreme sacrifice rendered during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos. The military awards included eight Sitara-i-Jurat, five Tamgha-i-Jurat, 24 Sitara-i-Basalat, 45 Tamgha-i-Basalat, 146 Imtiazi Asnad, 259 COAS Commendation Cards and one Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military), said a news release issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

HYDERABAD: The main Independence Day ceremony was held in grand style at the Circuit House Hyderabad, attended by Divisional Commissioner Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi, Mayor Kashif Ali Shoro, DIG Hyderabad Tariq Razak Dharejo, Deputy Commissioner Zainul Abideen Memon, SSP Adeel Hussain Chandio, Municipal Commissioner Zahoor Ahmed Lakhan, Additional Deputy Commissioner-I Gada Hussain Soomro, Additional Deputy Commissioner-II Saba Kalwar, officers from various departments, dignitaries, and a large number of citizens. The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the hoisting of the national flag and a salute presented by a smartly turned-out police contingent. The event was hosted by Information Officer Sobia Saleem. Students from different schools delivered speeches, sang national songs, highlighting patriotism and the struggle for truth. Special guests presented honorary shields to several personalities and officers in recognition of their outstanding performance. Addressing the gathering, DIG Hyderabad Tariq Razak Dharejo said that this year's Independence Day celebrations across the country had infused a renewed spirit among the people. SSP Adeel Hussain Chandio remarked that from August 1 to August 14, a series of events were organized that reflected exemplary public enthusiasm, adding that citizens must pledge to contribute fully to the nation's progress and development. Mayor Hyderabad Kashif Ali Shoro described this year's celebrations as remarkable, praised the performance of the Pakistan Army against India, and paid tribute to the martyrs, as well as to former leaders Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto. Divisional Commissioner Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi, appreciating the students' performances, said the patriotic spirit demonstrated during the celebrations from August 1 to 14 was unforgettable. Referring to recent defense achievements, he stated, our forces turned India's Operation Sindoor into a tandoor, crushing the enemy's ambitions. Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Zainul Abideen Memon thanked all guests, noting that the celebrations had further strengthened patriotic fervour among citizens. ISLAMABAD: On the occasion of Independence Day, Federal Minister and President Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party, Abdul Aleem Khan visited the residence of Shaheed Major Zeeyyad Saleem to pay tributes to him. He offered heartfelt sympathies with the family of the martyr, offered 'Fateha' and expressed his condolences. Major Zeeyyad Saleem embraced 'Shahadat' in Mastung, Balochistan while bravely confronting the terrorism of 'Fitna-e-Khawarij'. His two brothers are serving officers in the Pakistan Army while his late father Brig. Saleem was also 'Shaheed' in 2005 in the line of duty. Talking to the mother of Shaheed Zeeyyad Saleem, Abdul Aleem Khan said that being the mother of a martyr is one of the greatest honours, the sacrifice of your husband and son for the beloved homeland is a monumental favor upon this nation that can never be forgotten. The federal minister emphasised that remembering the national heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country's safety and security is a foremost duty on Independence Day. 'These heroes orphaned their own children to protect us and they are indeed the pride of our nation,' he added. Abdul Aleem Khan said that today's freedom is the fruit of the sacrifices of those martyrs who defeated the enemy on every front and taught them lessons the whole world witnessed. Abdul Aleem Khan paid homage to all martyrs, declaring that every soldier who lays down his life for the homeland is the pride of the country. He was accompanied by Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party MNA and Parliamentary Secretary, Gul Asghar Baghur. The family of Major Zeeyyad Saleem expressed gratitude to the Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan for his visit. Martyr Major Zeeyyad's brother, Major Hammad Saleem told the Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan that the martyr continued to fight the terrorists for 27 minutes after being shot. He recorded his own will and expressed his desire to be buried alongside his martyred father. Major Zeeyyad Saleem bravely fought until the end, inflicting heavy damage on the enemy. His brother further shared that the martyr had been married for only two years and was actively engaged in initiatives to support the families of martyrs, himself. Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan also expressed sympathy to Mrs Brigadier Saleem, the martyr's mother and prayed for courage and fortitude for the entire family. She stated that in the current circumstances, all citizens must be ready to defend the homeland. She thanked Abdul Aleem Khan for his visit and called her son's martyrdom an honour. In his remarks, Abdul Aleem Khan said that we all have to leave this world one day but what truly matters is how we depart.
