Gulshan Grover, Son Sanjay Reconnect After Actor's Divorce Kept Them Apart For Years
Gulshan Grover opens up about reconnecting with son Sanjay after divorce from wife, working together on Heer Express, and building a new father-son bond.
For years, Gulshan Grover has been known as Bollywood's infamous 'Bad Man'. But recently, the actor revealed a softer, more personal side as he spoke about working with his son, Sanjay Grover, on the upcoming film Heer Express, during his appearance on Archana Puran Singh's vlog. This project isn't just another movie for Gulshan — it's a chance to reconnect with Sanjay after years apart.
Sanjay's journey is unique. He studied at UCLA and worked at Hollywood's MGM studio before deciding to return to India and join his father's world. 'Like any Punjabi dad, I felt like taking him out and thrashing him," Gulshan laughed, recalling how Sanjay kept contradicting everything during a meeting with former MGM co-CEO Mary Parent. But to his surprise, Mary was impressed and promised a job after Sanjay graduated. 'I was so proud. I felt like a village idiot."
Though Sanjay had a promising career in Hollywood, he eventually came back home. Gulshan explained the reason was deeply personal. 'I am divorced from his mother, and she lives separately. Any parent would feel like enough is enough, my son has lived outside for so many years, we should live together now." They now share a duplex with their own spaces — 'He was free to enter my space, but I didn't have permission to enter his space."
Heer Express, directed by Umesh Shukla of OMG – Oh My God fame, is their first project together as actor and producer. Gulshan said the experience brought them closer. 'Working on the project gave us an opportunity to reconnect." He also joked about how he had to 'emotionally blackmail" Sanjay to try acting after working behind the scenes.
Gulshan praised Sanjay's global film knowledge too. 'His experience of making films in Hollywood as well as watching world cinema – German, French, American, Korean is fabulous. Jitna wo dekhta hai, utna mujhe dekhne me 10 saal lag jaaenge." This exposure helps Gulshan gain insights he admits he lacks.
At this stage of life, Gulshan said he isn't chasing fame — he wants to leave a legacy for his son. 'All I want to do is leave a legacy behind for my son, and to see my son succeed."

Though Sanjay was born into a family of actors, with his father and mother — Sunil Dutt and Nargis Dutt — being the top names in Bollywood, Sanjay carved his own path. Dutt made his debut with the film Rocky in 1981, but his breakthrough came with Naam in 1986. Today, we will discuss a film that turned out to be a game-changer. Sanjay Dutt's Film That Changed His Career This movie, which is in discussion, was made for Rs 5 crore and went on to earn Rs 21 crore in 1993. If you are wondering which movie we are talking about, then it is none other than Khalnayak. When Sanjay Dutt Became a Star Due to This Film In 1993, Khalnayak changed the direction of Sanjay Dutt's career. Russian Girl, Studying In Bengaluru, Sings Kannada Poem With Her Indian Bestie
Last Updated: The little girls' performance not only highlighted their beautiful bond but also their love for the Kannada language. A Russian girl and her Indian friend recently went viral on social media for singing a Kannada poem together while cycling through a Bengaluru neighbourhood. Dressed in vibrant traditional Indian attire, the little girls' performance not only highlighted their beautiful bond but also their love for the Kannada language. The video, shared on Instagram, began with a heartwarming montage of photos showcasing the girls together over the past three years. In the most recent 2025 footage, the girls were seen riding their bicycles while singing 'Bannada Hakki" (Colourful Bird), a popular Kannada children's poem. The side note read, '3 years in India. Girlfriends – classmates. 3 years of friendship." See the video here: The video was further shared on Reddit with the caption, 'Even foreigners learnt Kannada, what's your excuse in spreading more love and compassion towards our language?" The post triggered a discussion around language learning, with many highlighting the importance of schools and surroundings in facilitating children's linguistic adaptation and learning. One user wrote, 'Easier for kids to learn a language to speak as they are not worried about the correct way to pronounce a particular word/sentence." Another added, 'Real Problem is our schools. The government should make local language mandatory in schools so that 2nd generation immigrants will learn the language at least." 'It's simple. Indians just don't respect their own language. They will learn French, Spanish etc., while sitting in India, but will proudly they don't know the local language," pointed out a user. A person wrote, 'It's fun and positive when she did it by herself. Not so fun when goons are shouting at you or threatening you with weapon. Understand the difference." 'I feel it's easy to learn during schooling, she might be having Kannada as a subject. I tried learning 40-50 words so far, but I don't have anyone to talk to. So I easily forget," read a comment. 'Entitlement, arrogance, and a condescending attitude toward the language, culture, and people of the land they've settled in, despite benefiting from the leniency shown by Bengalureans, in whose city they are earning their bread and butter – This is their hidden excuse," remarked a user. view comments Location : Delhi, India, India First Published: August 07, 2025, 16:28 IST News viral Russian Girl, Studying In Bengaluru, Sings Kannada Poem With Her Indian Bestie Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
