'Well, I did an interview for WNYC Radio, like three weeks ago, for the play I was doing. And they said, 'Well, there's some people here that want to say hi.' And it was the Scream team,' Posey told ComicBook.com. 'And I actually pitched, 'Can I just be in another dimension and come back?''
With Scream (2022) bringing back Skeet Ulrich's OG killer Billy Loomis in ghostly visions and Scream VI (2023) reviving Hayden Panettiere's Kirby Reed after she was left for dead in Scream 4 (2011), as well as the recent announcements that David Arquette, Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley will all reprise their deceased characters in Scream 7, Posey hopes her doomed actress character could also make a return.
'I hope so. I would love to do that,' added Posey. 'That was really fun. I can't believe Wes Craven let me get away with some of the silly stuff I was doing. I loved him, and that was fun. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
Sarah Michelle Gellar previously pleaded for her return to the franchise as well after her character Cici Cooper was killed in Scream 2 (1997). 'They were bringing everybody back [for Scream 7]. I kept thinking I would get a call, I didn't get a call,' she said.

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors It was announced that the Wayans Brothers would return to the beloved "Scary Movie" franchise to reboot the series with full direction. Keenan Ivory Wayans will return to produce, while Marlon Wayans and Sean Wayans will presumably help write and star in he newest chapter. More news: James Gunn Drops Major Hint at Margot Robbie Returning to DCU While not much is known about what the new film in the franchise will entail, two of the original stars of the franchise are also set to return. In a new report from Deadline, Anna Faris and Regina Hall will return to the new "Scary Movie," reprising their roles as Brenda and Cindy, respectively. 33. "Scary Movie" (2000). Box office: $157.0 million. 33. "Scary Movie" (2000). Box office: $157.0 million. Miramax More news: Paramount Confirms New 'TMNT' Live-Action Film is in Development Both shared a quote on their return, stating: "We can't wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon—three men we'd literally die for (in Brenda's case, again.)" Hall and Faris starred in the first four "Scary Movie" films, but only the first two were written and directed by the Wayans Bros. With the family creative group getting involved again, they are bringing back two of the most fan-favorite characters in the franchise. According to Deadline, the film is set to shoot in October and is slated for a June 12, 2026, release date. Considering Cindy and Brenda are returning, it would be believed that Sean's Ray Wilkins and Marlon's Shorty would also be making a return, though that has not yet been confirmed. The original two "Scary Movie" films were a massive hit with audiences, with the first film releasing in 2000 and pulling in $278 million worldwide on a budget of $19 million. The second chapter in the "Scary Movie" universe followed shortly after in 2001, bringing in $141 million on a $45 million budget. The entire franchise has gone on to earn over $897 million through five films, making its return not at all shocking. Despite the big return, the Wayans Brothers have not been involved in the creativity of the franchise since "Scary Movie 2." The original films parodied "Scream," "I Know What You Did Last Summer," "The Exorcist," "The Shining," and so much more. Given the current state of horror, expect there to be a lot of films that are made fun of, such as "The Conjuring" films, though this is just speculation. Either way, fans of the original two films will be happy to know that Brenda and Cindy are back. For more on movie news, head to Newsweek Movies.

Watch: Sophie Turner describes kissing Kit Harington for new film

File Photo by Mike Goulding/UPI | License Photo Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Sophie Turner is opening up about what it was like kissing her former Game of Thrones co-star Kit Harington in the upcoming gothic horror film The Dreadful, which Turner also produces. The actress, 29, and Harington, 38, played onscreen siblings Sansa Stark and Jon Snow on Game of Thrones and now portray lovers in The Dreadful. Turner discussed the film on Late Night with Seth Meyers Thursday. "I sent the script to Kit and he kind of sent me a message back going like, 'Yeah, I'd love to, but this is going to be really ... weird Soph,'" she told Meyers. "And I was like, 'What is he talking about?' And then I was reading it and I'm like kiss, kiss, sex, kiss, sex. And then I'm like, 'Oh, shoot, that's my brother.'" "But it's such a good script that he was like, 'We kind of have to do it.' So then we put it out our minds and then we get on set, and it's the first kissing scene, and we are both retching. Like, really, it is vile. It was the worst. Another really bad moment in my career," she added. Meyers asked Turner if the experience was worse than filming with live rats and cockroaches for her upcoming movie Trust. "Yeah," she responded. In The Dreadful, Turner portrays Anne, a woman living her mother-in-law amid the War of the Roses. Harrington plays a man from their past who complicates Anne's life, Deadline reports.
