The workshop was led by Dr. Rashid Al Reyami, a certified trainer and evaluator, who provided a comprehensive overview of the award's objectives, structure, eligibility criteria, and application process. A dedicated discussion session followed, allowing participants to pose questions and explore the practical dimensions of the award. Hamdan–EFQM Global Educational Award is one of the Foundation's flagship strategic initiatives, developed in collaboration with the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM). It is the first award of its kind globally to assess educational institution performance based on a robust evaluation model aligned with international standards. The award is anchored in Hamdan Educational Model, a globally recognized framework co-developed by international education experts and EFQM. The model emphasizes improved pedagogical and administrative performance, enhanced learning outcomes, and the dissemination of best practices among participating schools. Targeting outstanding schools in the UAE and the broader GCC region, the award process includes a comprehensive review of applications submitted via EFQM's digital platform AssessBase, followed by orientation sessions and site visits conducted by specialized assessment teams. The process culminates in the issuance of detailed feedback reports with holistic analysis and practical recommendations for continuous improvement. The workshop concluded with a call to all eligible schools to apply and benefit from the resources and expertise provided by the Foundation. Participation in the award contributes to fostering a culture of innovation and excellence while reinforcing education as a key pillar of sustainable development.

Hewi Dubai: Here's how the emirate is set to reimagine community spaces

The initiative aims to revive the 'vibrant spirit' of the traditional Emirati fareej (neighbourhood) in a modern, human-centric way by creating new community spaces that strengthen social bonds and promote an active lifestyle. 'Community bonds are among the core values Emirati families are raised on. We must pass on these values to future generations and design public spaces that bring neighbours together, where families can gather, elders can meet, and children can create endearing memories in a safe and welcoming environment,' said Sheikh Hamdan. The site, located between a mosque and a residential neighbourhood in Nad Al Sheba 4, was chosen for its pedestrian-friendly character and strong community feel. The park reflects a shift from one-size-fits-all urban spaces to next-generation neighbourhood parks that prioritise comfort, belonging, and the rhythms of everyday life. Each element of the park has been tailored to reflect local values and community needs. A shaded gathering space near the mosque, Al Decha, offers a serene retreat where elders can share stories over Arabic coffee or tea. Al Saaha, a flexible indoor-outdoor venue, is designed for community events, workshops, and celebrations, while Al Yalsa provides families with a comfortable space to relax while children play nearby. Winding paths and nature-based play areas added will promote exploration and intergenerational bonding, transforming the park into an extension of the community.
