Billy Joel Says Wife Alexis Was 'Unimpressed with the Whole Billy Joel Thing' When They First Met — Which 'Impressed' Him
The legendary musician talks about meeting his wife for the first time in the new HBO documentary 'Billy Joel: And So It Goes' Billy Joel brought out all the stops for his wife Alexis the first time they met — but she wasn't exactly impressed by a private concert. Joel, 76, reflects on the first time he met Alexis, 43, in the new HBO documentary Billy Joel: And So It Goes, and recalls that her nonchalance toward his skills drew him to her. 'When you meet someone who captures your imagination, it renews, it revitalizes,' he says in the film. 'I remember the first time I met Alexis, we went to my house, and I wanted to play the piano for her. It's a form of communication for me.' The 'Just the Way You Are' singer says he drew on a famous scene from the Marilyn Monroe film The Seven-Year Itch, in which the character trying to woo Monroe's character plays a song by the Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff. 'I'm playing that and she's completely unimpressed with it, totally. She couldn't care less what I'm playing and I'm thinking, 'Oh OK, this isn't working,'' Joel says. 'She was very unimpressed with the whole Billy Joel thing, which impressed me. Because I thought, 'OK, maybe she's just here because she likes me, not the Billy Joel guy.'' Joel says he was initially uncertain as to whether he wanted to start a new relationship, as he was fresh off a divorce from his third wife, Katie Lee, and was wary. Still, the star explains that 'something popped,' and he knew he was open to love once more. Alexis — whom he went on to marry in 2015 and welcome daughters Della, 9, and Remy, 7 — also appears in the documentary, and says that the couple got to know each other better after that first meeting through phone calls and emails. She also praises his skills in the kitchen, saying Joel would often cook dinner for her to come home to while she was working in finance. 'We had a couple years together before we had kids and he had completely stopped doing shows,' she says. 'We traveled everywhere. We did a motorcycle trip from Maine down to Long Island, we were on boats 24/7. We were in Europe. We had so much fun.' Alexis has been a pillar of strength for the star in recent months as he deals with a treatable brain condition called normal pressure hydrocephalus (The rocker tells PEOPLE in this week's issue that he's 'OK' and not 'deathly ill'). Dennis Arfa, the star's longtime booking agent, tells PEOPLE he's 'so happy' to see Joel 'raising his children and being so in love with them and Alexis and his family.' 'It's quite rewarding,' Arfa says. 'I'm always rooting for Billy's happiness and his success. I've seen Billy have a lot of happy times through his life, [but] he's had to deal with certain adversity. I'm happy for him in this chapter, and I'm looking forward to the next chapter with him.' Joel himself adds that he's 'really enjoying this time in my life.' Billy Joel: And So It Goes (now streaming on HBO Max) is a rare, revelatory glimpse into the private world of one of rock music's most enduring acts, and how he overcame substance abuse, mental health struggles, and more to find peace. WWE via Getty Images Advertisement Not long before Hogan's passing, Hart — a longtime manager and close friend — had publicly insisted the WWE Hall of Famer was doing better than had been reported. 'He was great,' The 'Mouth of the South' told People on Friday about seeing Hogan for the final time about a month ago. 'He had great food to eat that night. He was talking with the fans. He was just phenomenal.' Hart revealed his shock when he learned of the wrestling icon's passing. Advertisement 'I called [Hogan] on Wednesday night, and then Thursday morning is when everything took place,' Hart said Friday. 'So just…just overnight it all happened, but it was so positive the day before.' Hart added that when he called Hogan this week, he didn't get to speak to him. Advertisement 'Well, tell him I love him,' Hart said he told Hogan's assistant. He indicated that he felt encouraged by the response, thinking 'this is great' news, People reported. 'It just hits so fast,' Hart said about his reaction upon learning of Hogan's death. 'It was like, 'Oh my God.' We thought he was doing so well, you know? We didn't go to see him at the house and didn't go to see him at the hospital, because we wanted to make sure that he didn't get any infections or anything else, like if anybody had a cold or brought anything in. So, that's what we all did.' Hart had a decades-long friendship with Hogan, going back to their early Memphis days through WWE and later WCW and TNA. Advertisement Hogan, a 12-time world champion — six in the WWE and six in WCE — was a two-time WWE Hall of Famer, being inducted in 2005 as an individual and in 2020 as a member of the New World Order. Hart was also inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 and is regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestling managers of all time.

Hulk Hogan's wife Sky breaks silence after his death in heartbreaking post
Hulk Hogan's wife, Sky, has shared an emotional statement about his death. The former wrestler died Thursday at the age of 71, after medics were reportedly called to his home in Clearwater, Florida. While a cause of death hasn't been revealed, TMZ reported he experienced 'cardiac arrest.' Sky, who married Hulk in 2023, broke her silence Friday on Instagram, sharing a sweet picture of herself kissing him on the cheek. In the caption, she also shared details about his physical health before his death. 'I wasn't ready for this…and my heart is in pieces,' Sky, 46, wrote. 'He had been dealing with some health issues, but I truly believed we would overcome them. I had so much faith in his strength. I thought we still had more time. 'This loss is sudden and impossible to process,' she continued. 'To the world, he was a legend… but to me, he was my Terry. The man I loved. My partner. My heart.' She added that her husband loved his fans a great deal, 'despite his growing physical discomfort.' 'He did everything he could to show up, sign autographs, take photos, and connect with the people who supported him through it all. You meant everything to him,' Sky continued. 'He was a believer in Christ, and I take comfort knowing his soul is at peace and he's been welcomed home.' 'Please keep his family and all of us who loved him in your prayers as we try to navigate this new reality,' she concluded. The yoga instructor got engaged to Hulk in July 2023, after a year of dating. They officially tied the knot in September 2023. Sky was Hulk's third wife. The WWE legend was married to Linda Hogan from 1993 to 2009 and then to Jennifer McDaniel from 2010 to 2021. He and Linda shared two children, Brooke, 37, and Nick, 36. However, Brooke has been estranged from her parents for nearly a decade. Only days before Hulk's death, Linda shared a throwback photo with her ex-husband. She posted a snap from 1996, when they attended a convention in Las Vegas. She simply captioned the post: 'The good old days !' Before meeting Hulk, Sky welcomed three children of her own, but she keeps their lives out of the spotlight. Born Terry Gene Bollea, Hulk skyrocketed to fame in the 1980s, bringing professional wrestling into the mainstream. He went on to become an eight-time WrestleMania headliner and six-time World Wrestling Entertainment champion, in addition to an actor and reality television personality. Hulk has been mourned by the WWE, fellow wrestlers, and political figures. On his Truth Social account, President Donald Trump issued a tribute to Hulk, who became a fixture during Trump's 2024 re-election campaign, appearing at the Republican National Convention to appeal to voters. 'We lost a great friend today, the 'Hulkster.' Hulk Hogan was MAGA all the way — Strong, tough, smart, but with the biggest heart,' Trump wrote. He continued: 'He gave an absolutely electric speech at the Republican National Convention, that was one of the highlights of the entire week. He entertained fans from all over the World, and the cultural impact he had was massive.'
