The stars were out as the WNBA All-Star game descended upon Indianapolis, from history-making on the court to fashion moments on the Orange carpet, we've got a recap of everything the girlies had up their leg sleeves.
The action-packed festivities began on Thursday, July 17, with a catwalk as the players showed off their athletic bodies and incredible sense of style while walking the league's Orange Carpet presented by the dating app Bumble. The Chitown Barbie, Angel Reese, popped out in a head to toe leopard fit complete with dark sunnies, a high bun, and a cute merlot lippie. And our favorite M'VP, 7-time All-Star A'ja Wilson, paid homage to her classic in-game style—a long leg sleeve covering only one leg—with a wine-colored gown featuring a thigh-high split showing off her perfect gams. https://www.instagram.com/p/DMOj0ExxdEF/
Before the players who comprised Team Clark (with Captain and Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark) and Team Collier (with Captain and Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier) faced off, other WNBA stars set the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on fire during the Starry 3-Pt Contest and Kia Skills Challenge on Friday night. New York Liberty guard, Sabrina Ionescu, took home her second three-point contest trophy while her teammate Natasha Cloud held it down in the skills challenge rising victorious in a stacked competition.
The talk of the weekend quickly became the 72-hour livestream hosted by Lynx players Courtney Williams and Natisha Heideman—who affectionately go by the name 'Studbudz'—that featured moments like the WNBA's commissioner Cathy Engelbert dancing to 'Knuck If You Buck', Caitlin Clark finally having a little fun and 2025 No.1 pick, Paige Beuckers, belting out Keyshia Cole's 'Love'. Fans tuned in to the stream for all of the behind-the-scenes fun that ESPN would not have dared to air.
It remains to be seen how the league will feel about all the footage once all the fun subsides, but WNBA lovers are demanding that the Studbudz become a permanent part of the All-Star Weekend. We're here for it!
The weekend had so many standout moments that the game itself seemed to have less fanfare than the events leading up to it; nonetheless, the girls delivered. One of the most beloved parts of the WNBA All-Star is the 4-point shots that the players tend to rack up easily. Plus, as the league continues to exceed expectations, the celebrities in attendance have multiplied.
Among the celebs in attendance were basketball legend Dawn Staley, rapper Plies, NBA players Bam Adebayo and Tyrese Haliburton as well as Hall of Famer Pau Gasol, WNBA legend Lisa Leslie, and Good Morning America's Robin Roberts. But it was ATT halftime performer GloRilla who had the girlies on their feet. It wasn't all fun and games for the players as they took the media time and the increased eyes on their league to address the ongoing pay disparity in women's basketball by donning 'Pay Us What You Owe Us' t-shirts during warmups. As they near the next CBA, WNBA vets and newcomers alike are preparing to make a big push towards increases in salary, revenue sharing and percentages of what the league takes home from their talents. Currently, WNBA players only receive around nine percent of league revenue in comparison to NBA players who net between 49 and 51 percent. The whooping difference has long been a point of contention for women players.
'The biggest thing that's the holdup right now is we want more salary, we want bigger salary, and that type of thing, but we want to talk about the percentages and the revenue share,' said WNBPA President Breanna Stewart. 'Based on their most recent proposal, we just aren't able to get to a place where we're actually even talking about the same thing.'
The weekend was capped off by an impressive 151-131 victory for Team Collier in which league veteran Skylar Diggins recorded the first triple-double in WNBA All-Star game history and Napheesa Collier notched 36 points to help lead her squad to a W.

Officiating has become the latest point of debate in the WNBA, causing Los Angeles Sparks guard Kelsey Plum to be the latest to give her opinion. While respectful of the referees, Plum offered her suggestions on how the rulekeeping could be better at the 2025 WNBA All-Star weekend. Plum, who has been critical of officiating in the past, said she feels that referees are not consistent enough in the WNBA. The eight-year veteran said she has 'no problem' with physical play, but wants officials to make the same calls on both ends of the floor for all 40 minutes. 'I have no problem with the physicality; I think people are getting frustrated at the consistency,' Plum said, via Yahoo Sports. 'It's like a ticky-tack here, and then someone gets absolutely assaulted over here. Where is the line? When do we call it, and why do we call it? A lot of teams play me, specifically, very physically, which I get. But a foul is a foul. A foul in the first quarter is a foul in the fourth quarter. So if you're not gonna call it in the first, that's fine, but don't call it in the fourth.' Plum voiced the same opinion on ESPN's 'NBA Today' shortly after. She admitted that she does not 'envy' a referee's job, but wants them to elevate their performance as the WNBA continues to evolve. As one of the most aggressive guards in the league, Plum gets fouled as much as any player in the WNBA. Regardless of her officiating gripes, Plum is averaging 20.1 points per game, the second-most of her career. As the team's leading scorer and facilitator, the 30-year-old will face former Las Vegas Aces teammates A'ja Wilson and Jackie Young in the game. Plum was drafted by captain Napheesa Collier in the first-ever WNBA All-Star Draft, while Wilson and Young were selected by Caitlin Clark. Plum will be the Lynx's lone All-Star participant once the game tips off Saturday night. Many fans felt Sparks forwards Dearica Hamby and Azura Stevens deserved the recognition, but both were left off the final rosters. American League MVP: With all due respect to the greatest offensive season by a catcher in MLB history and the Cy Young frontrunner, this one's a slam dunk at the moment. Aaron Judge (NYY): The Yankees captain is having the best season of his career in the midst of one of the greatest four-year runs in league history. He's on pace for 12.3 WAR, per FanGraphs, which would be the best since Barry Bonds in the early aughts. Remove Bonds, and it's the best since Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig in 1927. Cal Raleigh (SEA): The Mariners backstop is on track to become the first catcher with a 50-homer season, and Judge and Shohei Ohtani are the only players in baseball with a better OPS. Just a remarkable year from Big Dumper. Tarik Skubal (DET): With no other hitter clearly in third place, this goes to the league's best pitcher for two years running. Cy Young: Skubal is vying to become the first back-to-back AL Cy Young winner since Pedro Martínez in 1999-2000, but his competition in Boston isn't that far behind. Skubal (DET): Detroit's ace leads all qualified MLB starters in both strikeout and walk rate, which is outrageous. He also has the best WHIP (0.81) and is tied for the best ERA (2.19) in the AL. Garrett Crochet (BOS): The hard-throwing southpaw leads the majors in strikeouts (165) and is tied with Skubal for the AL's best ERA. And to think he only became a starter last year. Hunter Brown (HOU): While his numbers are still excellent (2.57 ERA, 0.99 WHIP), a couple so-so starts in July have opened the door for guys like Jacob deGrom (2.28 ERA, 0.90 WHIP) and Max Fried (2.43 ERA, 1.01 WHIP) to take his spot. Rookie of the Year: The Athletics might not have a home city or a major league ballpark, but they do have the league's two best rookies. Jacob Wilson (A's): The first rookie shortstop ever voted by fans to start the All-Star Game has the fifth-best average in the majors (.315). Nick Kurtz (A's): He's the only AL rookie with more homers or a higher OPS than Wilson, and with 29 fewer games played this race could tighten considerably. Carlos Narváez (BOS): The Red Sox backstop has the third-best OPS among all AL catchers (.774). National League MVP: At some point, Shohei Ohtani will cede the throne of the greatest player on the planet. We are nowhere near that point as he barrels toward his fourth MVP in five years. Ohtani (LAD): The same guy who leads the NL in HR (36), runs (95) and OPS (.993) also has a 1.50 ERA through six starts since returning from elbow surgery. Pete Crow-Armstrong (CHC): The Cubs' youngster is arguably the best outfielder in the majors, to say nothing of his 26 HR and 28 SB, both top five in the NL. Add it up and he trails only Judge for the MLB lead in WAR. Juan Soto (NYM): All-Star snub and cold start aside, the Mets' $765 million man has looked like himself — aka a top five player — for at least the last two months. Cy Young: As with the AL, this is a two-man race at the moment. Zack Wheeler (PHI): On the one hand, you have Philly's two-time runner-up who leads the league in WHIP (0.88) and strikeouts (164) and is third in ERA (2.39). Paul Skenes (PIT): On the other is Pittsburgh's phenom, who boasts a league-best 1.91 ERA and a stellar 0.91 WHIP that trails only Wheeler's. Good thing we've still got two months left to sort this out. Logan Webb (SF): The Giants' ace is leading the NL in innings for the third straight year, and could nab his third straight top-six Cy Young finish. Rookie of the Year: Who do you choose: the solid player who's been there all season or the lightning rod with just six starts under his belt? Drake Baldwin (ATL): The Braves' backstop has an .837 OPS and 11 HR (both second among NL rookies) to go along with above-average defense behind the dish. Jacob Misiorowski (MIL): The rookie sensation boasts a 2.45 ERA and 0.92 WHIP, which earned him a controversial All-Star selection after just five starts. Hyeseong Kim (LAD): The 26-year-old Korean is batting a scorching .317 through 53 games for the reigning champs. 🎧 Listen: What to watch for post All-Star break (Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Yahoo Sports) 📸 Through the lens Washington, D.C. — A day after winning her doubles match, 45-year-old Venus Williams stunned world No. 35 Peyton Stearns with a straight-sets victory at the DC Open — her first tour-level singles match in over a year and first win since 2023. Unreal. Turn back the clock: Williams is the oldest player to win a tour-level singles match since 2004, when 47-year-old Martina Navratilova won in the first round at Wimbledon. Geneva, Switzerland — Defending champion England is headed back to the Women's Euro final after their 2-1 comeback victory over Italy. They get the winner of Germany-Spain on Sunday. Historic strike: Chloe Kelly's 119th-minute game-winner, a rebound off her own blocked penalty kick, was the latest game-winning goal in Women's Euro history. Mont Ventoux, France — Tadej Pogačar made history on Tuesday in his pursuit of a fourth Tour de France victory, climbing the iconic Mont Ventoux in just 54:51, a full minute faster than the previous record. France gets on the board: Valentin Paret-Peintre won Stage 16 to give the host nation its first stage win of this year's race. Pogačar still holds the overall lead by 4 minutes, 15 seconds over Jonas Vingegaard. 🏀 Yang Hansen has arrived The Trail Blazers shocked the NBA world last month when they drafted Chinese center Yang Hansen with the No. 16 pick. How surprising was the pick? When Yang's name was called, he was sitting in the stands with fans rather than in the green room with his fellow draftees because he hadn't received an invitation. Sin City sensation: Despite being a relative unknown in America, the 7-foot-1 Yang is already a phenomenon in his native country. That was apparent this month in Las Vegas, where he was one of the biggest stars of Summer League, writes Ben Golliver of the Washington Post: Thousands of Chinese and Chinese American fans traveled to Sin City to watch Yang play … Tencent, a Chinese media company, dispatched a documentary crew to follow him … and more than a dozen reporters from China covered his games. La Bastide: A Taste Of Provence, One Hour From New York City
View of the dining room from the patio at La Bastide, North Salem, New York La Bastide/ In less than a year, La Bastide by Andrea Calstier, a fine dining experience in North Salem, New York, earned a Michelin star. Such early recognition, like this, is uncommon but not surprising to those who have dined at this bespoke, six-table restaurant in northern Westchester. Chef Andrea Calstier and General Manager Elena Oliver, a husband-wife team, own the restaurant and its sister property, Cenadou Bistrot. Two perfectionists, the couple has brought their abundant talents, creativity, love of Provencal cooking, and moxie to America. North Salem (Westchester County), incorporated as a town in 1788, is only about one hour from Manhattan. But its tree-lined two-lane roads and rolling hills, punctuated by lakes, rivers and reservoirs, offer the vibe of a place much farther away from the bustling city. Soon after arriving at La Bastide, guests are led to a comfortable seating area on a stone patio outside the glass door of the dining room. The pairing of aperitifs and canapés, accompanied by views of the bucolic countryside and herb garden in the backyard, feels transportative. The intimate dining room is as picture-perfect as the outdoors. Well-spaced, round tables accommodate parties of no more than six persons each, so the room never feels crowded. 'This is a very personal space where we spend much of our time,' says Elena. 'We want our guests to feel like we are welcoming them to our home.' Careful thought has gone into the design and decor. An open kitchen on one side of the room allows guests to watch the careful final plating of each dish, while the other side features a striking, contemporary wine wall. 'The open kitchen offers an air of transparency and allows us to feel connected to our diners,' says Calstier. The chairs and tablecloths are made of fine Italian leather. The tableware includes custom ceramics by Esther Kwon and knives from blacksmith Coutellerie du Panier, from the couple's hometown in Marseille. Also featured are porcelains from Studio Matte, Belgium, and French Limoges from Jacque Pergay. The Journey From France To North Salem Elena Oliver and Chef Andrea Calstier La Bastide Chef Calstier has a noble culinary lineage. He began cooking at age 15 and trained in some of France's most esteemed Michelin-starred kitchens, including Christophe Bacquie's La Table du Castellet in Provence and L'Abbaye de la Bussiere in Burgundy. In 2017, the young chef seized an opportunity to work in the kitchen of celebrated Chef Daniel Boulud at Restaurant Daniel in New York City. Elena, his soulmate since high school, joined him on this foray. The chef describes the year he spent working at Daniel's as becoming 'part of a family." There, he not only honed his culinary skills but built his confidence and developed connections. It also gave him the opportunity to learn English from the brigade in the kitchen. Within a year, the couple signed a lease for a very tiny dining space and opened their own French bistro, Papilles, in the East Village. The fearless chef was only 23 then. In that small space, Elena was able to elevate her management skills, and the restaurant achieved immediate success. 'It taught us how to become proper restaurant owners,' he says. 'Learning how to hire, inspire, attract, and mentor staff is what sets chefs apart from cooks.' When a partner of Chef Boulud introduced the couple to the North Salem property, they were smitten by the area and knew it offered more possibilities than they could possibly achieve in New York City. 'The region resonated with us because it would more fully allow us to express ourselves,' says Calstier. La Bastide: Impeccable Cuisine and Service Hors d'oeuvres at La Bastide, North Salem, NY La Bastide/ After a year and a half of renovation, La Bastide opened its doors in February 2024. Although it was difficult to fill the dining room at first, perseverance, consistency and staying true to their vision helped them achieve the Michelin star that 'put the restaurant on the map.' The chef's training in classical French cooking enabled him to set aside his ego. But it allows him to innovate and create dishes that showcase the foods rather than the technique. 'We think about the customer experience at every stage of the meal,' he says. While the cuisine at La Bastide pays homage to the couple's roots in Provence, the menu is seasonal, sometimes even microseasonal, capitalizing on the rich bounty the Hudson Valley offers. The chef adapts classic Provencal recipes, including those his grandmother used to prepare, and is inspired by meeting with local farmers in the area to see what they are cultivating. 'The menu is 80% seafood, even if it is only to complement a vegetable dish, because there is so much amazing seafood on the East Coast from Maine to Long Island to New Jersey,' he says. 'In terms of high-quality products, we've never felt limited by the supply.' Currently, the restaurant offers tasting menus at two seatings, 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM, Wednesday through Sunday. Diners have the option of an additional cheese course and/or wine pairing. Sommelier David Berube, who also worked for Chef Boulud, has curated a Wine Spectator award-winning list of 600 French regional wines for the restaurant. Service is seamless, thanks to a well-trained, attentive, and knowledgeable team. From the amuse-bouche to the appetizers, and from the moment the waitstaff lifts the silver domes from the entrées in unison, every dish offers a profusion of delightful flavors presented with artistry and flair. Fabulous desserts (like the popular chocolate with goat cheese) provide the proverbial icing on the cake, leaving sweet memories of an excellent meal. Cenadou Bistrot: More Casual, But Also Not To Be Missed Welcoming bar at Cenadou The more casual, 50-seat Cenadou Bistrot is co-located in the same building as La Bastide, one floor above the fine dining restaurant. Like its sibling, its menu reflects a fusion of delectable influences from Provence and the Hudson Valley. Diners can choose from hors d'oeuvres, charcuterie, mains like Steak Frites, cheeses, and more. The room also offers views of the surrounding landscape and features a welcoming bar (with a limited bar menu). The Bistrot first opened in June 2023. Extremely popular with locals, it has even received glowing accolades from Martha Stewart, who held a holiday party there for her staff. This dining room can stand on its own excellence and only pales when compared to the elegance of La Bastide. La Bastide: A Bastion Of True Hospitality La Bastide is a truly unique restaurant, perfect for a special occasion or for making any occasion special. Many guests choose to enjoy a special dinner at the restaurant and return the following day for a more casual lunch at Cenadou. Elena is always pleased to provide recommendations for nearby boutique hotels and small inns. She aptly describes the destination as 'a perfect getaway that offers the feel of being somewhere in France.' After a visit, the most lasting impression of La Bastide, beyond the exceptional food and ambiance, is the genuine warmth, hospitality, and dedication of the owners.
