Oscar-winner Michelle Yeoh to headline action film The Surgeon

Los Angeles [US], May 12 (ANI): Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh will be seen headlining the stylised action film 'The Surgeon'.
As per Variety, the feature -- hoped to be the first in a franchise -- introduced to buyers in Cannes by Patrick Wachsberger's 193.
'The Surgeon' comes from writer/director Rohsan Sethi, who also happens to be a physician, and extends a history of successful action collaborations for Wachsberger and producer Basil Iwankyk, who previously combined on 'John Wick', which Iwankyk produced and Wachsberger distributed as chair of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group.
In the film, Yeoh will be seen essaying the role of a retired surgeon who is abducted and forced to operate on a mystery patient. Though greatly outnumbered, her captors have overlooked her greatest weapon: 35 years of surgical experience, leading to what the synopsis describes as an "explosive and brutal confrontation" during which she outwits and cuts down her enemies "in a visual style that defies anything you have seen before."
On having Michelle in the project, director Rohsan Sethi said, "I'm so excited to bring something brand new and innovative to the action genre based heavily on my medical background. I cannot think of a better partner than Michelle, the iconic queen of action who will be using her skills in a different and surprising way in this film, and the producing teams at Thunder Road, 193 and NeoText."
In addition to an Academy Award, Yeoh's performance in 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' earned her a Golden Globe, Film Independent Spirit Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award in 2023. (ANI)

Academy Award-winning actor Jared Leto has been accused by at least nine women of sexually inappropriate behaviour as of June 7. The claims were first reported by Air Mail, which noted that some of the alleged victims were underage at the time of their interactions with the actor-musician. Leto's representatives have since issued a statement, flat-out denying the accusations on all counts. However, an anonymous woman told the outlet, 'It's been an open secret for a long time.' Here's a breakdown of the serious claims against the Suicide Squad star. Los Angeles-based DJ Allie Teilz, one of the very first accusers, reposted her decade-old Facebook post where she claimed Leto tried to force himself on her backstage. She also called the Dallas Buyers Club star 'Hollywood's most persistent predator in a kilt.' In another post, she said she was underage when the incident happened and claimed he knew it but didn't care. 'I was assaulted and traumatised by this creep when I was 17,' she wrote, adding, 'What he did was predatory, terrifying, and unacceptable.' In response to the accusations, Leto's rep said, 'Ms. Teilz's allegations are demonstrably false.' 'I remember him teasing me the whole time I was there,' Laura told Air Mail. 'He was flirting with me. He'd lean in close, then pull away, like it was a game.' The outlet reported that Leto walked out of his room without any clothes on in front of her. Leto's representative claimed that their communication was not inappropriate and that La Rue had even applied to work for them. But La Rue denied ever applying. An anonymous woman who spoke to the outlet claimed she started texting Leto when she was underage. She alleged their encounters turned sexual when she was 18 and that one experience left her feeling uncomfortable. A fourth person claimed she met the actor at a café when she was 16, and said their conversations later made her uneasy. 'He'd ask things like, 'Have you ever had a boyfriend? Have you ever…' she said. 'He changed his voice, the way he talked. It scared me. That was the first time I thought, 'Oh my God, that's not just in movies.'' Another accuser said Leto called her late at night and made remarks that crossed the line. She speculated he might have been on drugs or something, to which Leto's team responded, saying he 'has not had a drink or used drugs in over 35 years.' In 2018, actor Dylan Sprouse tweeted about Leto's habit of messaging young models: 'Yo @JaredLeto now that you've slid into the DMs of every female model aged 18–25, what would you say your success rate is?' Director James Gunn even replied, 'He starts at 18 on the internet?' Leto, known for his intense method acting, once claimed to have sent bizarre gifts to cast members on the Suicide Squad set, but later walked it back, saying those stories were blown out of proportion.

Before his gigs at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on January 18 and 19, Chris, along with Hollywood actress Dakota Johnson, paid a sacred visit to the iconic Babulnath Temple. They were joined by Bollywood star Sonali Bendre and 'Swades' fame actress Gayatri Oberoi. Several images and videos went viral in which Chris, Dakota, Sonali and Gayatri were seen offering prayers. Dakota and Chris, who have now reportedly parted ways, embraced Indian culture with full devotion. Sonali and Gayatri also accompanied Dakota to the iconic Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai back in January. Dressed in traditional attire, the trio appeared to be in high spirits, engaging in a lively conversation as they made their way through the temple grounds. For their post-wedding function, Shazahn opted for a stunning ivory lehenga. Her husband looked dapper in an embroidered black sherwani. Shazahn, best known for her roles in 'Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year' and 'Housefull 2', tied the knot with businessman Ashish Kanakia in Mumbai on June 5. Sharing the good news, Shazahn on Friday took to Instagram and shared beautiful pictures from the D-Day. 'This day. This feeling. Our forever (infinity symbol),' Shazahn captioned the post. The wedding ceremony was held on June 5 in the presence of the couple's family members and close friends. The journey to their wedding began with a roka ceremony in January 2025. As soon as she shared the images, netizens and members of the film industry chimed in the comment section and extended their best wishes.'Congratulations,' actor Zareen Khan commented.
