Tatweer organises new intellectual session on Greek mythology
On Saturday, 10th May 2025, Tatweer will host a new intellectual session under the Riwaq programme titled "Greek Mythology", in Sharjah. The session will highlight the importance of understanding Greek mythology, which extends beyond being just ancient stories. It will be explored as a symbolic pattern that continues to influence global literature and art today. Greek myths encapsulate profound human emotions such as love, jealousy, ambition, and revenge, alongside philosophical and ethical questions about justice, fate, good, and evil.
Connecting mythology to modern literary works
Studying these myths provides valuable analytical tools for understanding modern literary works. It reveals the deep connections between history and human culture. Greek mythology is a cornerstone reference in many contemporary artistic and intellectual productions, making it essential for those seeking a deeper understanding of contemporary literature and art.
Enhancing critical and analytical thinking
The study of mythology not only broadens intellectual horizons but also enhances critical and analytical thinking skills. By analysing recurring patterns and uncovering hidden meanings within texts, individuals can develop a deeper understanding of how stories—despite variations in form—share essential, underlying themes. Recognising these symbols enables individuals to engage with the world around them with greater awareness and insight.

Medad: Cultivating Sharjah's young writers
The programme aligns with Tatweer's vision of supporting young people's ambitions and developing their skills within a stimulating environment filled with unique experiences. "Medad" provides participants with a comprehensive journey that includes a deep understanding of the elements of the novel, an analysis of selected Arabic texts, and continuous practical exercises, concluding with the production of a short text under the supervision of a group of specialists in writing and literary criticism. Live creativity workshop Over the course of several weeks, participants experience a live creativity workshop; starting with a simple idea, they learn how to build a cohesive plot, develop realistic characters, and write vibrant dialogue. The goal isn't for them to be ready-made writers, but rather to take the first confident step on this long journey. Culture, a societal value "Medad" is an extension of the Emirate of Sharjah's efforts to establish culture as a societal value and enhance the local and Arab creative scene by training a generation of young writers who possess a vision, passion, and a genuine voice that speaks for themselves. The programme targets those aged 18 and above and will be held over the coming weeks in Sharjah. Presented in Arabic, it is organised by Tatweer, an affiliate of the Rubu' Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators.
