Suresh Kumar about
Janaki vs State
of Kerala facing CBFC cut
Speaking to Manorama Online, Kumar stated that the issues began when Empuraan faced its own censor troubles. 'Empuraan had to be re-censored due to the controversy. That's when the censor board became more cautious. That's why this problem has arisen; everything began from there,' he said.
The controversy stems from the film's original title, Janaki vs State of Kerala, which the CBFC objected to due to the use of the name "Janaki".
The film, initially scheduled for release on 27 June, was denied certification over this naming issue, resulting in delays.

Recently, the Kerala High Court was informed by the CBFC that the film could be approved if the title was altered to Janaki V vs State of Kerala or V Janaki vs State of Kerala. Additionally, the board recommended muting the character's name during a courtroom dialogue.
Reports suggest that the film's team has agreed to the proposed changes, with a revised release date expected to be announced soon.
Directed by Pravin Narayanan, the film stars Anupama Parameswaran in the lead role alongside Suresh Gopi, with his son Madhav Suresh appearing in a supporting role.

'Coolie': Netizens wonder why Rajinikanth's film was given 'A' by CBFC? Here's what we know

Superstar Rajinikanth 's Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj , was released in theaters across the world on August 14. As fans turn the release into festivals, many people on the internet have been asking why the film was given an 'A' certificate by the censor board. Discussions about this are rapidly progressing on social media. CBFC's new rules affect 'Coolie' According to many, 'Coolie' does not have as many bloody and violent scenes as Lokesh Kanagaraj's previous films. The main reason is said to be the way the film's story moves, with frequent scenes of bodies being cremated. But the real reason behind this is, unfortunately, 'Coolie' is the first film to be censored after the new rules, which came into effect recently. All future films will be reviewed under the same criteria. Thus, new changes have begun in the world of cinema, and we might see many films receiving an 'A' from the CBFC in the future. Depiction of illegal activities raises concerns As per Trade Analyst Ramesh Bala's post on X page, depiction of illegal activities taking place at the government-controlled port can be another reason. It is also believed that the fact that official institutions are shown to be in the hands of criminals and not functioning properly may have been a controversial aspect in the eyes of the censorship board. Meanwhile, another trade source Sreedhar Pillai says that the controversy will not affect the film's success, as the film has already received a great response on the first day of its release by grossing over Rs 151 crore globally as announced officially by the makers, setting a new day 1 record for a Tamil film.
