
Mobile subscriptions in Oman cross 8mn, broadband users rise
Active mobile broadband subscriptions climbed to 5,516,530, reflecting the growing demand for data services. Postpaid subscriptions rose by 5.3% to 1,236,561, while prepaid subscriptions grew by 3.6% to 5,236,191.
Internet of Things (M2M) subscriptions recorded exceptional growth, jumping 118.6% to 1,560,256 by the end of June.
In the fixed broadband segment, subscriptions increased by 2.2% to 588,477. Fibre optic connections rose 10.3% to 339,309, and fixed 5G subscriptions grew 1.5% to 215,434. In contrast, fixed 4G subscriptions fell 31.7% to 20,952.
ADSL usage continued to decline, dropping 52% to 11,289 subscriptions. Satellite connections increased 8.5% to 724, while other services, including Internet via power lines, Ethernet and leased lines, fell 11.2% to 769.
The figures underline the shift towards fibre and next-generation mobile technologies, as consumers and businesses move away from legacy platforms such as ADSL and 4G fixed services.

Muscat - The total number of mobile telecom subscriptions in the Sultanate of Oman reached 8,033,008 by the end of June, registering a 15.7 percent increase compared to the end of June 2024. The latest statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information show that the number of active mobile broadband subscriptions has risen to 5,516,530 by the end of June 2025. Active postpaid mobile subscriptions in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 5.3 percent to reach 1,236,561 subscriptions by the end of June 2025, compared to the same period in 2024. Active prepaid mobile subscriptions also increased by 3.6 percent to reach 5,236,191 subscriptions. Internet of Things (M2M) subscriptions achieved exceptional growth of 118.6 percent, reaching 1,560,256 subscriptions by the end of June 2025. Meanwhile, active fixed broadband subscriptions increased by 2.2 percent, reaching 588,477 subscriptions compared to the same period in 2024. Fiber optic (FTTH/B) subscriptions grew by 10.3 percent, reaching 339,309 subscriptions, while fixed 5G subscriptions increased by 1.5 percent, reaching 215,434 subscriptions by the end of June 2025. Meanwhile, fixed 4G subscriptions declined by 31.7 percent, reaching 20,952 subscriptions. ADSL subscriptions decreased by 52 percent, reaching 11,289 subscriptions, while satellite subscriptions increased by 8.5 percent, reaching 724 subscriptions. Other subscriptions (which include Internet via power lines, Ethernet, and leased Internet lines) decreased by 11.2 percent, reaching 769 subscriptions by the end of June 2025, compared to the same period in 2024.

Oman's sale contract values up 12.4%
MUSCAT: The value of sale contracts in the Sultanate of Oman rose by 12.4% to RO 613 million by the end of June 2025, compared with RO 545.6 million during the same period in 2024. Figures from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that total real estate transactions stood at around RO 1.36 billion by June 2025, down 3.5% from RO 1.41 billion a year earlier. Fees collected from all legal transactions increased by 25.5% to RO 40.5 million, up from RO 32.3 million last year. However, the number of sale contracts fell by 2.3% to 31,831 compared with 32,596 in the same period of 2024. The value of mortgage contracts dropped by 13.4% to approximately RO 742.2 million for 10,647 contracts, against RO 856.7 million for 10,028 contracts last year. Swap contracts also declined, with 596 agreements worth RO 4.8 million, compared with 671 worth RO 7.3 million a year earlier. Meanwhile, the number of real estate titles issued rose slightly by 0.8% to 110,551, from 109,666 last year. Titles issued to GCC citizens grew by 4.7%, reaching 697 compared with 666 in June 2024. — ONA
