Real reason Corrie star left the soap after 11 years as actor's partner slams bosses ‘huge mistake'
The 45-year-old actor, who has played gay vicar Bill Mayhew for 11 years, will be written out next year, ITV execs have decided.

He said he was sad to go but excited about the future.
But his partner, Jordan Coulthard, wrote on social media: 'Not his decision. Huge mistake.
"I can't even believe we are having this conversation. No words can describe how heartbroken I am for him.'
Over the past four years the actor has posted claims that the government were tampering with the voting process.
He also said planes were spraying chemical over the country while he has liked and reposted anti-vax messages.
Earlier this year he wrote: 'We have been lied to so much. Governments. Pharma. Kings. Queens.'
'MSM', an abbreviation of mainstream media, were also blamed.
Confirming his exit, Daniel said: 'I have been working on Corrie for a quarter of my life.
"I have adored every minute I have been in that building and have never not looked forward to going into work.
"I love everyone who works on this show and, whilst I am sad to be going, I am equally excited to see what the future holds.'
Daniel was at the centre of one of the soap's biggest recent storylines, when Bill's husband Paul, played by Peter Ash, was seen deteriorating and passing away last year from motor neurone disease.
Producer Kate Brooks said: 'Billy will be involved in a major storyline over the coming months, which will see him tested in ways he never imagined, as friendships and his faith are pushed to the limit.
'We're incredibly sad to bid farewell to Dan, who has been fantastic.'

Coronation Street's Carla is deeply touched as Lisa makes thoughtful gesture
Carla Connor (Alison King) is touched in upcoming Coronation Street scenes when girlfriend Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) makes a thoughtful gesture. In recent scenes, Carla and Lisa came out on top in their battle against Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) for the ownership of No.6. The couple have been moving their relationship forward in recent months, agreeing to buy a house together after a turbulent few months. After making things official in November 2024, their relationship was rocked by Carla's health issues, and the return of killer brother Rob Donovan. Thankfully, this only made them stronger in the end, though they faced further heartbreak when the death of Craig Tinker brought back painful memories of Becky Swain's murder. Amid the turmoil, Lisa asked Carla to marry her, but they both agreed that it was too soon. Instead, the next logical step was for them to buy a house together, and it didn't take long to get Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) on board. Next week, there are changes afoot as the Connor-Swains begin to settle into their new home – and they're not the only ones. As Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) helps the couple pack up the flat, he opens up about his own new living arrangements, and his odd flatmate. Ever the protective aunty, Carla is concerned for him, and her reaction leaves Lisa thoughtful. More Trending Later, Carla is surprised when Ryan arrives at No.6 with his rucksack. As Lisa explains that she has asked Ryan to move in with them, Carla is touched. View More » Are they set for a peaceful life in their new home, or will it be too crowded? Exit looms for Aadi in Coronation Street as he makes two major confessions
A couple of months ago actor Adam Hussain announced on his Instagram that he would soon be leaving Coronation Street and his role of Aadi Alahan. 'I guess the secrets out now!' he wrote. 'As some of you may have heard, I will be leaving Coronation Street for new pastures. 'Over the 5 years I've spent there I have learned so much about the world and the industry and now feel I am ready to spread my wings a little. I have made friends that will last a lifetime and will surely miss such a special family!' In recent weeks the path to his exit has been laid out, beginning with a party that went disastrously wrong. Aadi had been left in charge of his dad's business while Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) was away in India. Aadi was keen to step up and show that he has what it takes to be a young entrepreneur, but he was so focused on this task that he didn't have any social life. So Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) suggested a party. Unfortunately things got out of hand when some of the party-goers took LSD, including Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton). She hadn't realised she was taking the drug and had a very bad reaction, hallucinating that she was being pursued by evil Joel Deering (Calum Lill). In her terror she fell and injured herself badly, ending up in hospital. Aadi felt guilty for being responsible for drugs being at the party and did what he could to help her. This has led to the two of them embarking on a romance – but if Lauren knew that Aadi was the cause of her being 'spiked' she'd be furious. It's not the only secret hanging over Aadi. It turned out that he'd over-estimated his readiness to step into Dev's shoes and made quite the mess of the shop's finances. He tried to fix this by getting Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) to stage a robbery, thinking the insurance would pay off the debt he'd accrued. Unfortunately one of the many things that Aadi had done wrong was to forget to pay the insurance premiums. Bernie soon worked out that Aadi was behind the 'robbery' and made him admit everything else. Not wanting there to be a rift between Dev and his son, Bernie has come up with a plan to sort Aadi's financial woes out. Dev has been given a large sum of money for his wedding to Bernie, so Bernie's plan is she'll get everything for the wedding on the cheap, falsify the receipts and the difference will pay off Aadi's debt, with Dev being none the wiser. With the wedding about to take place it's make or break time for this plan, and with Aunty Rani turning up in Weatherfield to keep an eye on the proceedings and how her money is being spent, Bernie's plan is proving trickier than she envisaged. Like any soap wedding, the big day itself is eventful, but eventually Bernie walks down the aisle on Kit (Jacob Roberts)'s arm as Dev waits expectantly. The magical moment is soon followed by total panic as Bernie collapses, struggling to breathe. Asha (Tanisha Gorey) rushes to give first aid as an ambulance is called. And things are looking bleak for Bernie when, later, Asha announces that Dev wants the family to gather at the hospital. More Trending In the wake of these shocks, Aadi is feeling guilty for the mistakes he's made and the stress he must have put on Bernie, and he gets drunk in Victoria Gardens. Lauren eventually tracks him down there and he decides he has to come clean about what happened at the party. And when Dev gets home, Aadi braces himself to tell his dad the truth about his mishandling of the business and the debts he piled up. View More » How will Dev react?
