REAL reason for Daniel Brocklebank's departure from Coronation Street is 'revealed' - after his partner launched stinging attack on soap
Daniel Brocklebank's departure from Coronation Street reportedly came after the star's history of posting conspiracy theories. News that the actor, 45 - who plays Billy Mayhew in the show - would be leaving Weatherfield in a 'sensational storyline' broke on Friday morning. The actor's 'heartbroken' partner Jordan Coulthard was quick to launch a stinging attack on Coronation Street - insisting his soap exit 'isn't his decision and swiped that ' ITV are making a huge mistake'. But according to The Sun, the real reason Daniel is being written out of the show after 11 years is linked to him posting a string of conspiracy theories. Online comments reportedly made by the star in recent years are said to have included his belief that the government tamper with voting and that he thinks planes are spraying chemicals over the country. He has also reportedly liked and reposted anti-vax messaging. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The Sun reported that Daniel would be waving goodbye to the Cobbles in 2026. Daniel's boyfriend Jordan took to his Instagram story to share his thoughts on the decision - and he certainly didn't hold back. Jordan said on social media: 'Nothing to say. Not his decision. Huge mistake. 'I can't believe we are having this conversation. No words can express how heartbroken I am for him. 'He will be magnificent.' In another picture of Daniel posing as his alter-ego, he added: 'Utter madness.' Daniel also took to Instagram after the news broke, sharing a snap of him as the vicar with the caption: 'Bye bye Billy,' and a red love heart. MailOnline contacted Coronation Street for comment. Meanwhile an insider revealed: 'Dan will be involved in a major storyline which will see Billy exit the cobbles in 2026. Details are being kept under wraps at this stage.' Dan Brocklebank said of his departure: 'I have been working on Corrie for a quarter of my life. 'I have adored every minute I have been in that building and have never not looked forward to going into work. 'I love everyone who works on this show and whilst I am sad to be going, I am equally excited to see what the future holds.' Producer Kate Brooks added: 'Billy will be involved in a major storyline over the coming months, which will see him tested in ways he never imagined, as friendships and his faith are pushed to the limit. 'We're incredibly sad to bid farewell to Dan, who has been fantastic in some of Corrie's biggest storylines over the past few years, most notably Paul's MND. 'An actor of immeasurable talent and skill, and an absolute treasure behind the scenes - he will be missed by all of us on the cobbles.' Daniel shot to fame in the 90s and has landed a number of TV roles over the years. He took on the role of Billy Mayhew in 2014. But he has been in various other TV shows before that, including Casualty, Doctors, Emmerdale, The Bill Holby City and Waterloo Road. After taking on the role of Billy, Daniel appeared as Carl Saunders in WPC 56, Lord Chancellor in Admiral and Brian Grey in Midsomer Murders. Daniel also played Jules in Soft Lad, Delin in Native and James Anderson in The Confessions of Dorian Gray. It comes after Colson Smith's last scenes as Craig Tinker on Coronation aired earlier this week. The actor, 26 - who is best known for playing PC Tinker in the soap - appeared on ITV's This Morning to talk about his departure from the beloved programme. Recalling the moment he was told that he no longer had a job on Coronation Street, Colson said: 'I've been in that building since I was 12. I know how it works. It's like any work place, you pick up on vibes, you pick up on things.. 'I knew, I had a meeting at 7pm one night after work. 'I was in the Rovers all day, I was sat there kind of not saying anything, but my brain was like "I know what's coming tonight!". 'I told Jack and Ben, my two best mates at work, tonight's the night, I'm getting binned, that's what we call it. 'I was like tonight's the night, will you be there for me. 'They were there and I went up to boss, she looked at me and went "This isn't going to be an easy conversation."

Real reason Corrie star left the soap after 11 years as actor's partner slams bosses ‘huge mistake'
CORONATION Street star Daniel Brocklebank has left the soap after making a string of online conspiracy posts. The 45-year-old actor, who has played gay vicar Bill Mayhew for 11 years, will be written out next year, ITV execs have decided. 1 He said he was sad to go but excited about the future. But his partner, Jordan Coulthard, wrote on social media: 'Not his decision. Huge mistake. "I can't even believe we are having this conversation. No words can describe how heartbroken I am for him.' Over the past four years the actor has posted claims that the government were tampering with the voting process. He also said planes were spraying chemical over the country while he has liked and reposted anti-vax messages. Earlier this year he wrote: 'We have been lied to so much. Governments. Pharma. Kings. Queens.' 'MSM', an abbreviation of mainstream media, were also blamed. Confirming his exit, Daniel said: 'I have been working on Corrie for a quarter of my life. "I have adored every minute I have been in that building and have never not looked forward to going into work. "I love everyone who works on this show and, whilst I am sad to be going, I am equally excited to see what the future holds.' Daniel was at the centre of one of the soap's biggest recent storylines, when Bill's husband Paul, played by Peter Ash, was seen deteriorating and passing away last year from motor neurone disease. Producer Kate Brooks said: 'Billy will be involved in a major storyline over the coming months, which will see him tested in ways he never imagined, as friendships and his faith are pushed to the limit. 'We're incredibly sad to bid farewell to Dan, who has been fantastic.'

Daniel Brocklebank's boyfriend hits out at Coronation Street's ‘huge mistake' saying it's ‘not his decision' to leave
CORONATION Street star Daniel Brocklebank's boyfriend has hit out at the soap for its 'huge mistake' and saying it's 'not his decision to leave.' The actor - who plays vicar Billy Mayhew in the ITV soap - will leave the show next year with The Sun exclusively revealing his exit will involve a major issues-based storyline. 3 3 But now Daniel's long-term boyfriend, police officer and musician Jordan Coulthard has hit out at the soap. Posting on Instagram to his 20,000 followers he said: 'Nothing to say. 'Not his decision. Huge mistake. I can't even believe we are having this conversation. 'No words can express how heartbroken I am for him. He will be magnificent.' Confirming his exit, Daniel said: "I have been working on Corrie for a quarter of my life. "I have adored every minute I have been in that building and have never not looked forward to going into work. "I love everyone who works on this show and whilst I am sad to be going, I am equally excited to see what the future holds." Corrie producer Kate Brooks said: "Billy will be involved in a major storyline over the coming months, which will see him tested in ways he never imagined, as friendships and his faith are pushed to the limit. "We're incredibly sad to bid farewell to Dan, who has been fantastic in some of Corrie's biggest storylines over the past few years, most notably Paul's MND. "An actor of immeasurable talent and skill, and an absolute treasure behind the scenes - he will be missed by all of us on the cobbles." Moment Coronation Street's Billy Mayhew is saved from tragic death as Paul 'returns from the dead' in emotional scenes Actor Daniel joined the soap in 2014 as Sean Tully's new love interest and quickly established himself as a supportive character on the cobbles. However not long after Billy became a more standard Corrie character having affairs, being revealed as the unwitting killer of Ken Barlow's daughter Susan and then descending into heroin addiction. However recently the actor has become more known for posting bizarre conspiracy theories on social media. Coronation Street's 2024 shock exits Corrie has said goodbye to several cast members this year. Let's break down who's left the famous soap: Eliza Woodrow (Savannah Kunyo) has said farewell to Corrie to start a new life in Germany. The youngster moved to live with her dad Dom Everett, who went back on the £10,000 bribe Eliza's grandfather Stu had offered to keep him out of her life. Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) will bow out of the soap this summer when he loses his fight with motor neurone disease (MND) in tragic scenes. After being diagnosed last year, the fan favourite was devastated to learn he only had months left to live. Viewers know he is planning to take his own life to end his suffering. Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) departed the cobbles after being offered the opportunity of a lifetime to study in America. Though she struggled to decide with her stepdad Paul's impending death from MND, she was convinced she had to live her life to the full. Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) has struggled with the sudden departure of his father Peter from the cobbles. The Weatherfield legend left his family and loved ones behind on Boxing Day, 2023, when his wife Carla Connor encouraged him to travel around the world with a friend. Simon's been on a downward spiral ever since and his exit could end in tragedy. Alya Nazir is set to leave the cobbles as actress Sair Khan prepares to go on maternity leave ahead of the birth of her first child. It looks likely she'll be heading to Dublin after securing a lucrative new job, leaving her colleague and fling Adam Barlow behind. Show stalwart Sue Cleaver, who plays Eileen Grimshaw, is taking a break to star in the Sister Act The Musical UK tour. She will be back filming in May once her dates on the tour come to an end. Her character left the Street after her son Jason broke his back after falling off a moped in Asia. Fans became concerned at his posts in recent times railing at the 'mainstream media' and suggesting the Government has been controlling the weather for unexplained reasons. His verified X - formerly known as Twitter - account has now disappeared.
