And what's with the smaller battery capacities for the global models - especially the ones for Europe? That really ticked people off.

Honor 400 battery life and charging speed results are in

While we are preparing the full Honor 400 review, we decided to share the results from our battery and charging tests. The handset runs on a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC and features a 6.55-inch OLED panel. Both draw power from either a 5,300 mAh battery or a 6,000 mAh unit, depending on your region. The unit we got is the European one, which means 5,300 mAh. The results from the battery tests are far from ideal. The handset drags behind the competition with a 12:29h Active Use Score. That's considerably below what most phones score in the same price bracket. The Honor 400 seems to be struggling in all screen-on tests, especially in the web and video streaming scenarios. bigpic/ data-battery2=34:06_12:05_14:02_7:08> When it comes to charging, though, the Honor 400's 66W charging rate seems to be competitive enough. The handset charges from 0 to 100% in just over 40 minutes, while a 30-minute charge gives you 80% of the charge back. That's better than some, but also slightly behind other devices in the same price bracket. Still, the differences are rather negligible. Let us know what you think, we expect the full review to be ready some time next week.

Weekly poll results: Honor 400 Pro is promising, but it and the Honor 400 can use a price cut

Last week's poll shows that the Honor 400 Pro has hope of success, but the vanilla 400 just doesn't have the feature set to compete. The poll also shows that people are getting irritated by having global models that feel second rate compared to the ones available in China. The Honor 400 Pro has a good number of fans as it is and a positive review can make it even more desirable. It has already taken the first steps – its battery life is pretty good (if nothing stellar) and charge speed is a standout feature. But that's with only a 5,300mAh battery – we tested the European version. The rest of the world (sans China) gets a bigger 6,000mAh battery. And the Chinese model? That one has a whopping 7,200mAh capacity despite being smaller than the global model! The global 400 Pro has a 6.7' display, the Chinese one has a 6.55'. It's no wonder that people are getting irritated. The Honor 400 feels under-specced – good reviews can draw in some people, but the general conclusion is that you can get better hardware for the price with other models. If the global market got the Chinese model, we would be looking at the newer Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 (instead of 7 Gen 3) and a huge 7,200mAh battery (instead of 5,300/6,000mAh). That would have made the 400 a much easier sell. The MSRP of both the Honor 400 and 400 Pro is fairly high. That said, commenters from several regions have checked in saying that they got a great deal with lower prices and even some freebies – that, of course, changes the equation.
