Former Pakistan speedster
Shoaib Akhtar
has slammed senior batters
Babar Azam
and Mohammed Rizwan for yet not becoming the match-winners their country demands from them.
Akhtar's remarks came after Jayden Seales destroyed Pakistan's chase with six wickets as West Indies won the third and final ODI by a huge margin of 202 runs on Tuesday to clinch the series 2-1.

"I think this is what goes against Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan.

(When Babar bats he looks so good).
Isi cheez ko thoda accelerate kar de aur khatam kar de
(He just needs to accelerate his knock and finish the game for his team).

Pakistan beat West Indies in the first one-day international on Friday by five wickets. West Indies leveled the series with a five-wicket victory in the second ODI.
Pakistan won the preceding Twenty20 series 2-1 played in Florida.

Jason Brown calls Caleb Williams 'gay' as fans pile on with roast reactions
(Image via Getty Images: Caleb Williams) The NFL preseason gave us a little unexpected drama off the field, and it had nothing to do with a touchdown. Bears rookie QB Caleb Williams showed up rocking silver nail polish before the game. The reporter tweeted about it, noting that fans believed the color was symbolic, silver nails for the silver Lombardi Trophy. But instead of joining in on the hype, Jason Brown jumped into the conversation with a one-word reply that sent the internet spiraling. Jason Brown calls Caleb Williams 'gay' over silver nail polish According to fans, the silver was a symbolic nod to his ultimate goal — the Lombardi Trophy. But instead of celebrating the gesture, Jason Brown jumped into the conversation with a one-word reaction that immediately set the internet on fire: 'Gay.' That's it. One word, but enough to hijack the whole conversation. For context, Jason Brown isn't new to stirring the pot. He has a reputation for blunt takes and online shock value, which makes his remark unsurprising but it doesn't mean fans let it slide. Instead of piling on Caleb Williams, the replies quickly flipped against Brown himself. Fans react with pure trolling energy Most of the reactions weren't serious debates, they were straight-up roast sessions. Fans turned Brown's comment back on him, mocking how he always finds a way to stay relevant. Instead of anyone questioning Caleb's style choice, the overwhelming majority of fans just laughed at Brown. Caleb Williams didn't address the post and probably won't. For him, silver polish is just another extension of the same personal style he showed at USC. What started as a symbolic gesture from Caleb Williams ended up becoming another Jason Brown controversy. But unlike his coaching days, this time the coach didn't control the play. Beyond the viral exchange, this moment feeds into a bigger shift in the NFL. Younger stars like Caleb Williams are embracing individuality whether it's nail polish, jewelry, or bold fashion fits before games. While some 'old-school' voices like Jason Brown clearly don't approve, the new era of athletes sees self-expression as part of their brand and confidence. Babar Azam gets LIFELINE after getting snubbed from Pakistan's Asia Cup 2025 squad, head coach Mike Hesson says…
Babar Azam has been snubbed for Pakistan squad for Asia Cup 2025. (Source: X) Former Pakistan captains Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have both been snubbed for the Asia Cup 2025 squad announced on Sunday. Babar and Rizwan have been ignored from Pakistan's T20I side which will be led by all-rounder Salman Ali Agha. But Pakistan white-ball head coach Mike Hesson believes there is still chance for Babar Azam to return to the T20I set up, if he can work on improving his strike-rate. Babar will get the ideal opportunity to work on this aspect as he turns out for his maiden season of Big Bash League (BBL) in Australia later this year. Babar was signed up by Sydney Sixers team as a pre-signing. The 30-year-old has turned out in 128 T20I matches for Pakistan and scored 4223 runs at an average of 39.83 but has a relatively poor strike-rate of 129.22. He has scored 3 hundreds and 36 fifties in T20I cricket. 'There's no doubt Babar's been asked to improve in some areas around taking on spin and in terms of his strike rate. Those are things he's working really hard on,' Hesson said after the Pakistan squad announcement on Sunday. 'But at the moment the players we have, have done exceptionally well. Sahibzada Farhan has played six games (against Bangladesh and West Indies) and won three Player of the Match awards. A player like Babar has an opportunity to play in the BBL and show he's improving in those areas in T20s. He's too good a player not to consider,' the former RCB team director added. Babar Azam failed to fire in ODI series in West Indies Pakistan humiliatingly lost a three-match ODI series to West Indies 2-1. It was the first ODI series loss that Pakistan have suffered against WI in the last 34 years. Hesson added that Pakistan will need to back players who have performed in recent series in Rizwan and Babar's absence. 'We were challenged with three different surfaces (in recent matches against Bangladesh and West Indies)' Hesson said. 'In Lahore, the surfaces were flat and the batting excelled. We went to Bangladesh where they were incredibly challenging and low-scoring games. Our top-order sets the game up. All the games we won the top order performed really well. The third game in the West Indies, our openers put on 140 (138). We need that at a run rate that gets us ahead of the game. T20 is all about setting the game up and being ahead of the game all the time in case you get yourself out. From a batting point of view we've got a line-up that can continue to do that,' Hesson added. In PSL 2025, Babar only managed 288 runs in 10 matches with 3 fifties at a strike-rate of 128.57. Overall in PSL, Babar has scored 3792 runs in 100 matches at an average of 44.61 with 2 hundreds and 36 fifties at a strike-rate of 127.5. Pakistan squad for tri-series and Asia Cup 2025: Salman Ali Agha (c), Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Waseem Jnr, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Salman Mirza, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sufyan Moqim

Pakistan Legend Slams Selectors Over Babar Azam's Asia Cup Snub: 'Unko Khud Ko Nahi Pata'
The elegant right-hander remains absent from Pakistan's T20I squad and won't be taking part in the subcontinental event, starting September 9 in the UAE. Former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad slammed the national selectors for leaving out star player Babar Azam from the team's Asia Cup squad. The elegant right-hander remained absent from Pakistan's T20I squad for the subcontinental event to be held in September in the UAE. Babar, who hasn't featured in the shortest format since December 2024, is speculated to have been dropped for his attritional approach and slow going in the middle. Despite his great solidity, the 30-year-old's late acceleration and an ordinary career strike rate of 129.22 have plagued Pakistan's wings on several occasions, forcing the rest of the batters to take extra risks and ultimately leading to under-par scores. Miandad, however, put his weight behind the class player to overcome his blues and force his way back into the reckoning. The legend hammered the selectors for ignoring Babar, claiming they lack the cricketing experience and know-how to judge the talent correctly. What Did Javed Miandad Say About Babar Azam? ' Unko khud ko nahi pata. Unhone cricket kheli hai? Jo jis level pe cricket kheli hai, woh selection kar rahe hain Babar Azam ki. Usko kya nazar aayega? (they have no idea, have they even played cricket? At the level they have played, how are they eligible to select Babar and what eyes do they have?)," a furious Miandad said during a media interaction. 'Babar Azam is a great player. Ups and downs hote hain (there are ups and downs in the game). Cricket is like a radio — you have to catch the station. Jab aap wicket pe jaate ho, bowler aata hai, aap sochte ho — haan, main yeh kar sakta hoon (a batter has plenty to think when he walks in the middle and responds accordingly)." Babar has been at the receiving end of heavy criticism and scrutiny over the last two years, undergoing a prolonged phase without a century at the international stage. The former Pakistan skipper has now played 72 innings across Tests, ODIs and T20Is since he last produced a hundred in the top-level game. Babar's most recent 100+ score came against emerging cricket nation Nepal in August 2023 at the beginning of that year's 50-over Asia Cup. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
