"Preparations for Eid Al-Adha have been done": J-K Waqf Board

India Gazette03-06-2025
Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 2 (ANI): BJP leader and Chairperson of the J&K Waqf Board, Darakhshan Andrabi, on Monday assured that comprehensive preparations are in place with the support of security forces and civil administration for the upcoming Eid-al-Adha festival.
Speaking to ANI, Andrabi emphasised the importance of communal harmony and cautioned against posting ritual images on social media, warning that such actions can foster societal divisions.
'The security is present here along with all the officers of the civil administration. A meeting was held with them to tell them that the preparations for Eid Al-Adha have been done. It is not possible in the absence of security and civil administration...We discussed a lot of topics here in the meeting. Some people post photos of rituals on social media, which creates division in society. This should not happen,' the BJP leader said.
Meanwhile, Eidgah Imam Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahali issued a comprehensive 12-point advisory on Monday to ensure the festival is observed with hygiene, respect, and social responsibility.
Speaking to ANI, Mahali said, 'A 12-point advisory has been issued for Eid-Ul-Adha, where Muslims are advised that while performing the ritual of sacrifice, please maintain hygiene and cleanliness. The ritual should be done on designated spots, not on roadsides or streets.'
The Imam also requested that no videos or photos of the sacrificial ritual be taken or uploaded to social media.
Eidagh Imam Mahali added, 'No video or photo of the sacrificial ritual should be taken or uploaded to social media. Distribute one part of the sacrificed animal among the poor and needy... Pray for the safety of your family and the soldiers protecting our nation on the border...'
The holy festival of Eid al-Adha, also known as the 'festival of sacrifice' is celebrated on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic calendar.
Eid al-Adha is the second Islamic festival of the year and follows Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. The date changes every year, as it's based on the Islamic lunar calendar, which is about 11 days shorter than the Western 365-day Gregorian calendar. It is celebrated as a commemoration of Prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice everything for God. (ANI)

Congress Should Check Voter Lists Now, quips Chandrashekhar Bawankule

Nagpur: Revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has attacked the Congress over their allegations regarding voter lists. "The upcoming local self govt elections in the next few months will be held on the same voter lists on which the assembly elections were conducted. Therefore, if Congress leaders have any objections, they should raise them with the Election Commission right now. They should not blame the voter lists for their failure after losing elections," quipped Bawankule on Sunday. Speaking to the media, Bawankule said voter lists are always released before elections. At that time, all parties are given time to raise objections. During the assembly elections, lists were posted at a lakh booths in Maharashtra. "At that time, no Congress leader raised any objection. They didn't raise objections even during the election period. However, 7 months after the elections, Rahul Gandhi raised objections," he said. "When 31 Congress MPs were elected in Maharashtra, they didn't raise any objection; at that time the voter lists were correct. Congress party has objections only where BJP wins. However, our 2.5 lakh beloved sisters voted for us, we waived electricity bills of 45 lakh farmers, they voted for us. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The 5 Books Warren Buffett Recommends You To Read in 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Also, in Kamptee assembly constituency, we conducted new voter registration by setting up 17,000 booths. This increased voters by 34,000. An increase in votes doesn't mean voter lists are incorrect," said Bawankule. He further appealed to Rahul Gandhi that if he still has doubts, he should check the voter lists for the upcoming local self govt elections, and he should deploy his workers in Maharashtra for this work. When asked about Mahayuti contesting local self govt elections together, Bawankule said chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, state BJP president Ravindra Chavan and other leaders have given instructions to contest within Mahayuti. However, where it's not possible, instructions have been given to local leaders to ensure that friendly fights do not harm Mahayuti, he clarified. Speaking about above-average rainfall in the state, he said instructions have been given to conduct panchnamas and provide compensation according to SDRF and NDRF criteria. He also said orders have been given to district magistrates to remove unauthorized churches built for religious conversions in several tribal districts, including Nandurbar. 'Crowd here not to listen, but to see how I look after losing', said Vajpayee after 1984 poll loss

Nagpur: Recalling former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee 's trademark wit, BJP city president and ex-mayor Dayashankar Tiwari on Sunday narrated how the veteran leader turned even electoral defeat into humour during his 61st birthday celebration in Nagpur. Speaking at the launch of 'Retirement', a book by city cardiologist Dr Kirti Tanna, Tiwari said that after Vajpayee lost the 1985 Lok Sabha election from Gwalior in the aftermath of Indira Gandhi's assassination, he was invited to Nagpur for his 61st birthday. Addressing the gathering then, Vajpayee had quipped that for the first time, people had not come to hear him speak, but to see how he looked after defeat. "Delivered with his trademark wit, the line drew laughter and admiration, showcasing his ability to turn setbacks into moments of connection and humour," Tiwari said. During the same event, Vajpayee was presented with a gift bag of ₹11 lakh arranged by the then party treasurer Vitthaldas Loya. In his inimitable style, Vajpayee joked that Loya was "a smart man who knows every penny," and a true Maheshwari, once again displaying his sharpness and ease of engagement. Explaining why his 61st birthday was special, Vajpayee had said that while in Maharashtra the 61st birthday is traditionally celebrated, in Uttar Pradesh it is believed a man becomes a true pundit only after 60. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Tiwari noted that Vajpayee's reflections on age were a testament to how one should live beyond 60 — with grace, humour and wisdom — qualities also echoed in Tanna's book. Dr Tanna said the launch of 'Retirement' was the fulfilment of a long-cherished dream shared with his wife. Having completed seven decades of life and over 40 years in medical practice, he described the book as his contribution to society. "Retirement is often seen as negative, a full stop. But today it is a comma — an opportunity to explore new choices," he said. Earlier, retirement meant pilgrimage and devotion, but now it can also mean travel, friendships, hobbies, and self-discovery. Stressing more on the psychological than the financial aspect, Tanna urged people to embrace this stage with enthusiasm, step out, spend time with friends and maintain balance. "There is no commercial motive, only the intent to change perceptions," he added. Former MP Girish Vyas, recalling his bond with Tanna's father, said the book is a must-read for anyone nearing retirement. He praised its clarity, use of data on global retirees' happiness, and ability to evoke reflections similar to films like Baghban. RSS city chief Rajesh Loya described retirement as "remodelling oneself." Lauding Tanna beyond his role as a skilled doctor and social worker, he said the book revealed an inspiring personal side rooted in strong values. 10 Kanwariyas injured as tractor-trolley overturns in Akola

Akola: A tractor-trolley carrying Kanwariyas to fetch holy water from the Purna River overturned at Bhim Nagar Chowk after losing balance and crashed into an electric pole on Sunday night. At least 10 Kanwariyas were injured in the accident, with two to three reported to be in critical condition, said police. According to eyewitnesses, nearly 30 to 35 devotees were on the tractor-trolley for the state's largest Kanwar Yatra held ahead of the last Shravan Somwar. The hit to the electric pole snapped the power supply in the area. Due to the power outage, police and local residents faced difficulties in carrying out rescue operations. Police initially shifted all the injured to the Government Medical College (GMC), from where they were referred to private hospitals. On being informed, BJP MLA Randhir Savarkar, MP Anoop Dhote and local BJP netas visited the hospitals and assured to bear the medical expenses.
