GACA issues classification for air carriers, airports in April 2025
The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) issued the index for the classification of air transport services providers and airports based on the number of complaints filed by travelers to the authority in April 2025.
The total number of complaints submitted by passengers against airlines stood at 1,270.
The least complaints were filed against flynas with 22 complaints per 100,000 passengers. The state-run airline recorded a timely complaint-handling rate of 100%.
Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) ranked second, with 23 complaints and a closure rate of 99%.
Meanwhile, Flyadeal came third, with 38 complaints per 100,000 passengers, reporting a timely complaint closure rate of 100%.
The most frequent complaints for April were about tickets, followed by luggage and passenger services.
Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah reported the lowest number of complaints, recording two or 0.2% per 100,000 passengers, among international airports that receive over six million passengers annually, with a timely complaint closure rate of 100%.
For international airports that receive less than six million passengers annually, Abha International Airport reported the lowest complaints, at a rate of 1% per 100,000 passengers.
Among domestic airports, King Saud Bin Abdulaziz Airport was the least airport complained about, at a rate of 3% per 100,000 passengers with a timely complaint-handling rate of 100%.
GACA stated that the monthly index is developed to inform travelers about service quality, promote transparency, and encourage healthy competition in the aviation sector.

Al-Ittihad's own English account on X had simply posted: 'THE GOAT. Player of the Season @Benzema.' The French star became the first player since Julio Tavares of Al-Faisaly to score twice in the final of Saudi Arabia's premier cup competition with goals in the 34th minute and deep into stoppage time at the end of the match. The first came from a clever chested effort from Steven Bergwijn's cross from the right while the second was a simple tap-in from close inside the six-yard box to end Al-Qadsiah's dreams of a late miracle. Aouar scored Al-Ittihad's second on 43 minutes while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang replied with Qadsiah's solitary effort six minutes into stoppage time at the end of the first half with a penalty as the Jeddah giants claimed their tenth title in the competition. The King Cup double was the icing on the cake for the 37-year-old Ittihad captain. While Benzema has rightly been lauded by his club's supporters and others across the region for his display, Algeria's Aouar has been named player of the match by football platform Sofascore, which awards players scores out of 10 for their performances. Aouar was given 8.3 for his own starring role against Al-Qadsia, which saw him nod-in from close range after Qadsia goalkeeper Koen Casteels had saved brilliantly from Benzema's header. Ittihad goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic was second with a score of 8.0 while Benzema came third with 7.9.

Saudi Foreign Minister Arrives in Damascus
Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah arrived in Damascus on an official visit to Syria, accompanied by a high-level economic delegation. The economic delegation comprises Royal Court Advisor Mohammed bin Mazyad Al-Tuwaijri, Vice Minister of Finance Abdulmuhsen bin Saad Alkhalaf, Assistant Minister of Investment Dr. Abdullah Aldubaikhi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic and Development Affairs Abdullah bin Zarah, as well as several officials from various sectors, SPA reported. The foreign minister is scheduled to meet with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa. The high-level economic delegation will hold a consultation session with their Syrian counterparts to discuss avenues for joint action aimed at supporting the Syrian economy, strengthening government institutions, and achieving the aspirations of the Syrian people.

Saudi foreign minister arrives in Syria for economic talks
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan arrived in Damascus on Saturday with an economic delegation on a visit to discuss ways to support Syria's war-ravaged economy, authorities said. On a visit to Riyadh earlier this month, US President Donald Trump said he would lift US sanctions on Syria, a move that paves the way for economic recovery in the war-torn country. Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani welcomed Prince Faisal, who is 'heading a high-level delegation,' on arrival at Damascus airport, a Syria foreign ministry statement said. The pair were scheduled to hold a press conference this afternoon. A Saudi foreign ministry statement said Prince Faisal would meet with President Ahmed al-Sharaa and 'the high-level economic delegation' would hold talks with Syrian officials about ways of cooperating 'that contribute to supporting Syria's economy and strengthen institution building.' In February, al-Sharaa visited Saudi Arabia in his first trip abroad as president. Last month, Saudi Arabia and Qatar announced they would settle Syria's debt to the World Bank totaling roughly $15 million. Damascus is hoping that the lifting of sanctions, particularly by the United States, will pave the way for support from the international community. Years of war and sanctions have battered the country's economy, infrastructure and industry. A recent United Nations Development Program report estimated Syria's 'lost GDP' during the 2011-2024 war to be around $800 billion.
