Russian Defense Ministry Announces Airstrikes on Kyiv Forces in Kursk
Moscow - Saba:
The Russian Defense Ministry announced that its Su-25 attack aircraft launched airstrikes on Kyiv forces' positions and gatherings on the outskirts of Kursk Oblast, destroying all targets, according to the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.
A squadron of eight Russian Geran-2 (Geranium) drones also attacked a drone assembly site and a large ammunition depot in the village of Bogodukhov in the Kharkiv Oblast, northeastern Ukraine.
Yesterday, the ministry announced an intensive drone attack on Ukrainian forces' positions in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

Russia, Ukraine exchange military prisoners under age of 25
Moscow – Saba: The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Monday that Ukraine has returned the first group of captured Russian servicemen under the age of 25 from territories still under its control, pursuant to the Istanbul Agreement. The ministry said in a statement: "In accordance with the Russian-Ukrainian agreements reached on June 2 in Istanbul, the first group of captured Russian servicemen under the age of 25 has been returned from territories under the control of the Kyiv regime." Russian FSB announced thwarting of group attempting to smuggle helicopter equipment into Ukraine
Moscow - Saba: The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced on Monday the thwarting of an international group involved in preparing to smuggle helicopter equipment out of Russia, including into Ukraine. Sputnik quoted the FSB as saying in a statement that "the smugglers' group was commissioned by foreign organizations to purchase new components for Russian-made Mi-8 and Mi-17 helicopters. The estimated cost of these components is more than 400 million rubles ($5 million)." The FSB reported that "the group, which was preparing to smuggle helicopter equipment, included six citizens from Russia, Ukraine, and countries in the Middle East." The FSB revealed that "the number of attempts by unfriendly countries to obtain weapons and military equipment for Kyiv from Russia is unprecedented." The service stated that "since October 1, 236 attempts to smuggle drones, optical equipment, and other materials from Russia have been thwarted." It added that "in light of the growing external threats resulting from the coordinated activities of hostile states to provide material and technical assistance to Ukrainian armed groups, the security services have encountered an unprecedented number of attempts to obtain weapons and military equipment essential to the Kyiv regime's maintenance of its combat capabilities. This activity has been shown to be controlled by foreign special services on a large scale and manifests itself in the pursuit of a wide range of products from the Russian military-industrial complex." The service stated that "Kyiv has attempted to establish a stable channel for smuggling Russian aviation products to compensate for the shortfall in Ukrainian Ministry of Defense orders." Putin approves Russian Navy Development Strategy until 2050
Moscow - Saba: Nikolai Patrushev, aide to the Russian president, announced on Monday that Russia's position as one of the world's greatest naval powers is gradually being restored. Sputnik quoted Patrushev as saying that Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the Russian Navy Development Strategy until 2050, stressing that the approved document is the first of its kind in modern history. According to Sputnik, Patrushev revealed in an interview with the Russian newspaper Argumenty i Fakty that "the decision to develop the strategy was made in July of last year during a meeting in the Kremlin. At the president's direction, the Ministry of Defense prepared a draft law, which was subsequently reviewed by the Russian Maritime Council, taking into account proposals submitted by federal agencies and organizations." He noted that "the final version of the strategy, which was submitted to the head of state for consideration, was approved by him on May 30." He added, "I would like to say, without going into details, that such a strategic planning document is being adopted for the first time in modern history." Patrushev emphasized that "the development of a strong and modern (naval) fleet is one of Russia's priority tasks." The document includes an assessment of the navy's condition and capabilities, taking into account the experience of the air defense forces, and formulates the requirements for the fleet's future combat formation, according to Patrushev. Patrushev continued, "The strategy includes an analysis of developments in the global military and political situation, the likelihood and nature of armed conflicts, and the capabilities of leading naval powers." The strategy also assesses the current state and capabilities of the Russian Navy, taking into account the experience of special military operations. It also formulates the main requirements for the future combat formation of the Russian fleet, its main tasks in peacetime and wartime, and the mechanisms for the future formation of the navy. The Russian presidential aide emphasized that "it is impossible to develop a strong and modern fleet without a long-term vision of the scenarios for the development of the global situation, the evolving challenges and threats, and without defining the goals and tasks facing the Russian Navy." Patrushev concluded by saying that "Russia is gradually regaining its position as one of the greatest naval powers in the world." It is worth noting that since 2024, the command of the Russian naval fleets has been directly transferred to the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy. The Russian Navy includes the Baltic, Northern, Black Sea, and Pacific Fleets, in addition to the Caspian Sea Flotilla. The Russian Navy was established on October 30, 1696, by royal decree of Tsar Peter I.
