SIT conducts searches Jagan Mohan Reddy's PA's house in liquor scam
The team led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) searched the house of Mr. Nageswar Reddy, located in Veterinary Colony, in Vijayawada, on Thursday.
The police also conducted searches in the houses of Dhananjaya Reddy and then Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Krishnamohan Reddy, who were named as accused in the alleged multi-crore scam.
It was alleged that a few YSRCP leaders, including V. Vijaya Sai Reddy, Rajampet MP P.V. Midhun Reddy, Sajjala Sridhar Reddy, former AP State Beverages Corporation Limited (APSBCL) Managing Director D. Vasudeva Reddy, and others held meetings on cash transactions and reportedly discussed on introducing new liquor brands and on allegedly receiving kickbacks from the distilleries.
The SIT police, investigating the alleged liquor scam that occurred during YSRCP regime, recently arrested then IT Adviser Kessireddy Rajashekar Reddy, his personal assistant Dilip Kumar and another accused Chanikya in the case.
Investigation officers have questioned Mr. Vijayasai Reddy, Mr. Midhun Reddy, Mr. Kassireddy Rajashekar Reddy and Chaitanya in the case.
ED steps into action
Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has reportedly asked the SIT officers to submit the details of the liquor scam. It was alleged that ₹3,200 crore was swindled in the racket, which occurred during 2019 to 2024.
The ED officials have asked the investigation officers of the SIT to give the details of the accused involved, arrests made, seizures, statements of the accused and the particulars of bank transactions.
'The ED will probe the multi-crore scam under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) 2002, as the accused caused huge loss to the government's exchequer,' a police officer said.

ED conducts raids at scrap dealer's house in Sahibganj
Dumka: The enforcement directorate (ED) on Tuesday conducted a raid at the house of a scrap dealer in Sahibganj district and examined various documents and electronic gadgets in connection with the Rs 1,250 crore mining scam and the ongoing investigation in the GST scam. The Rs 734-crore GST scam is allegedly a complex fraud planned by some traders from Jharkhand with implications in other states. ED has, however, not made any official statement about the raid. Sources said a four-member team of the ED, comprising a woman officer, assisted by CRPF personnel, entered the house of Bablu Gupta alias Bablu Kabadi located in the Bangali Tola Mohalla under the jurisdiction of the town police station around 7 am, and reportedly searched the house. "We were taken aback as unknown people in civilian clothes, accompanied by CRPF personnel, barged into our home. They started searching the entire premises even before we could understand anything," a member of the scrap dealer's family was quoted as saying to the neighbours. The family member also added that the operation continued for nearly six hours. During the search operation, one of the ED officials stepped out of the house along with a teenage boy of the Gupta family. They went somewhere and returned after some time, eyewitnesses said. Police said locals gathered outside Gupta's house out of curiosity as the news of the ED raid spread. Jana Sena Party will hold a public meeting in Visakhapatnam on August 30, says Nadendla
Jana Sena Party Political Affairs Committee chairman and Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar on Tuesday said that the party will hold a public meeting at the Municipal Corporation Stadium in Visakhapatnam on August 30 at 3 p.m. Party president and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan will address the gathering. Mr. Manohar said Mr. Pawan Kalyan chose Visakhapatnam out of his special interest in the city and recalled how the party had organised a long march against the YSRCP government's sand policy in 2019. To defeat the YSRCP without splitting anti-incumbency votes, Mr. Pawan Kalyan had taken the decision to join hands with the TDP and BJP, he said. With the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and support of the Union government, Andhra Pradesh was witnessing 'true governance,' he added. SIT to be set up for JSSC CGL paper leak probe: AG in HC
Ranchi: Advocate general (AG) Rajiv Ranjan informed the Jharkhand high court on Tuesday that a special investigation team ( SIT ) would be constituted to investigate the alleged leak of question papers of the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC CGL) examination. A division bench of Chief Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan and Justice Rajesh Shankar were hearing a PIL filed by Prakash Kumar seeking a CBI probe into the leak of question papers. The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission had conducted the JSSC CGL exam, 2023, on January 28, 2024. Questions in the third paper (general knowledge) were leaked after which the Commission cancelled the paper. Furore created by the candidates led the Commission to cancel the other three papers. A total of 6.5 lakh candidates had registered for the exam for appointment of 2025 posts in the govt. AG Ranjan informed the division bench about the progress of investigation done by the CID. Expressing dissatisfaction with the investigation carried out in the matter, the court sought details from the CID in the case. The AG further told the court that a SIT of high ranking officers would be formed to scrutiny the details and compile a report on the matter. The case would next be heard after a fortnight.
