Migrants escape from ICE detention center in NJ: sources
NEWARK, N.J. (PIX11) — At least four migrants escaped from a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center in Newark, N.J., Thursday evening, police sources said.
The migrants were able to flee from Delaney Hall Detention Facility. Sources said the escapees were seen running near Turnpike 78 and Delancey Street in Newark.
A be on the lookout was sent to all local police departments for the escaped detainees.
PIX11 News reached out to the Department of Homeland Security, but they were not immediatley available to comment.

Mexico's president calls for no ICE raids during Mexico-Dominican Republic soccer match
MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum urged U.S. officials on Friday not to target individuals attending a Gold Cup soccer match in Los Angeles between the Mexican national team and the Dominican Republic. Dozens of workers have been detained by federal immigration authorities in a series of raids in LA's fashion district and at Home Depot parking lots in Southern California. More than 100 people have been detained. 'We don't believe that there will be any raids if there's a soccer game,' Sheinbaum said in a news conference. 'We hope there won't be any. We call for no action from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.' Mexico is scheduled to play the Dominican Republic on Saturday night at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, in a group stage match of the Gold Cup. Usually, the Mexican national team matches attract thousands of fans whenever they play in Southern California. Their last match there was in March, when more than 50,000 fans attended a League of Nations semifinal against Canada. In the most recent measure in the administration's immigration crackdown, President Donald Trump deployed National Guard troops and Marines to the Los Angeles area after the raids sparked days of tumultuous protests throughout the city. The city's downtown has seen a variety of protests, from quiet to boisterous. Over the weekend, protesters blocked a key freeway and set cars on fire. For safety concerns, the Mexican national team decided to change hotels earlier in the week and moved from downtown to Long Beach. Sheinbaum also said that the Mexican consulates in the United States have implemented an information campaign guide for Mexicans in the event of unjust detention by immigration authorities. ‘Not a random operation': Residents, officials alarmed after possible ICE activity in Rockford
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford's southwest side is quiet Friday, a day after personnel from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security were confirmed in the area. 'People were confused about some things. From my understanding, that it may have been in a residential area or near a park, all of it is, with the social media posts, and not from official sources,' said 6th Ward Alderwoman Aprel Prunty (D). Prunty said she heard from residents of her ward that DHS personnel near Liberty Park. While officials if agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) were present, the City of Rockford released a statement saying, 'It is important to note that ICE is a federal agency operating under the Department of Homeland Security.' 'This was scary for a lot of people. And, especially if it were near a park, we know that children were probably there. I have heard that, since then, that maybe children did witness it,' Prunty said. Fernando Lopez, the station manager at Rockford's Latino radio station La Bamba Radio, said he was made aware of two individuals who were targeted due to active deportation orders against them. 'It's not a random operation of ICE. It was targeting specific people. As far as we know, they pick specific people with deportation proceedings. That's what this is. No massive raids, no random stuff,' Lopez said. According to ICE, those arrested in its operations nationwide had criminal histories, including sexual assault, robbery, drug and weapons charges, and domestic violence. In Illinois, the TRUST Act, signed by former Gov. Bruce Rauner (R) in 2017, prevents state law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration authorities. According to the 2023 Way Forward Act Compliance Report, 88.5% of requests from federal immigration authorities were rejected statewide. City officials did not have further updates. Earlier this year, Rockford Police Chief Carla Redd on the department's policy, saying, 'The enforcement of civil immigration laws is the primary responsibility of federal agencies, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The Rockford Police Department does not participate in civil immigration-related investigations or actions.' Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana said in a , 'Local law enforcement agencies are prohibited from honoring ICE detainers or acting on an individual's immigration status without a judicial warrant. These legal restrictions limit the ability of local law enforcement to collaborate with federal partners, including ICE, in addressing certain public safety concerns.' Woman with neck injury found dead in Brooklyn home: NYPD
MIDWOOD, Brooklyn (PIX11) — A woman was found dead during a wellness check at a Brooklyn home Thursday night, police said. Officers conducting the wellness check found the 26-year-old woman with a neck injury inside the house at 1886 New York Ave. in Midwood just before 8:50 p.m., according to the NYPD. More Local News The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner deemed the incident a homicide, police said. The victim has not been identified. There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
