Dylan Raiola expresses championship expectations for Nebraska ahead of the 2025 season

USA Today23-07-2025
The Nebraska football team arrived at Big Ten media days on Tuesday in Las Vegas, sharing insight on the upcoming 2025 season. Nebraska finished 7-6 last season, winning the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl and putting together its first winning season since 2016.
Sophomore quarterback Dylan Raiola was joined in Sin City by offensive lineman Henry Lutovsky and defensive back DeShon Singleton. Raiola has already made headlines from the event due to his attire. When speaking to Avarie Howard of Hail Vasirty, the quarterback made it clear where the team's mentality is heading into the season opener on the road at Arrowhead Stadium.
"National Championship! That's the bar that's been set. That's the journey we're going to choose to go on. Anything other than that won't be a failure, but we'll be a little disappointed."
However, championship expectations are a bold statement, even considering head coach Matt Rhule's past third-year surges with Temple and Baylor. But it wasn't just the overall outlook on the season that Raiola addressed. He also discussed the steps the offense took this offseason and Dana Holgorsen's impact.
"He's very quarterback friendly," Raiola said. "He's going to do what their strengths are. That's a big advantage. He's always making sure we're doing the right play. That's where I've taken the step, making sure if we have any bad plays, bad looks to get us in the right place."
Raiola also addressed other aspects of the game that he and the team focused on during the offseason. The team's overall focus was on winning moments when the game was on the line.
"Every game we played was close," Raiola said. "You either make the play to win the game, or you don't make the play and lose the game. So, putting ourselves in a position to do better has been a big focus."
Raiola also talked about another goal he set himself for the season.
"Running," He said. "I'm excited to run a lot more this year. I've been training my butt off to run and be quicker and faster."
Nebraska will open the 2025 college football season on Thursday, August 28, when the Huskers face the Cincinnati Bearcats at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.

Notre Dame RB coach Ja'Juan has high praise for Kedren Young and all of his running backs

It should come as no surprise the Notre Dame football running back's coach Ja'Juan Seider is praising his group, but it wasn't like you thought he would be doing on Saturday. One of the newest additions to the Irish coaching staff hasn't been with the team long, and looks like he's going to let the players performance decide if they'll play or not. One of those guys that he believes has earned the right to see the field is redshirt-freshman Kedren Young. Seider said that 'he's a kid who's ready to play,' although he's unsure of the role that Young will have. As for the rest of the room, one thing stood out to Seider about the unit, the fact that they all stayed despite opportunities to make more money and get more playing time elsewhere. 'It's so refreshing to be unselfish,' is how he put it, as he noted that they were all waiting their time even with him coming into the program. Seider will have plenty of talent to get the ball to this fall, and it's hard to see any of the options not being solid choices. Texas A&M senior RB predicted to lead the SEC in rushing this season

Texas A&M's 2025 running game will be headlined by senior running back Le'Veon Moss, who, after missing the final four games of the 2024 season due to a lower body injury sustained against South Carolina, will be back. Moss is back and 100% healthy, according to himself and head coach Mike Elko, which was further confirmed during the first two practices of the preseason last week. However, Moss has not received the national coverage he deserves, while a small portion of the Aggie fan base is worried that he could face issues returning to complete form, based on the wear and tear of playing running back in the SEC. Still, Moss has dealt with setbacks in the past, and the depth behind him, including Rueben Owens, Amari Daniels, EJ Smith, and freshmen Deondrae Riden and Jamarion Morrow. Last season, depth was a significant issue after Rueben Owens was lost early in the preseason, leaving just Amari Daniels and EJ Smith, who was also dealing with an injury, as the only options behind Moss. As we all witnessed, the lack of depth hurt the Aggie offense, forcing starting quarterback Marcel Reed to drop back more than OC Collin Klein wanted late in the season. On Saturday, Michael Bratton of That SEC Podcast listed his top 10 SEC running backs who will finish the 2025 season as the top rushers, and for what seems like the first time all offseason, Bratton chose Le'Veon Moss to finish the year as the leading rusher in the SEC. Before his injury, Moss led the SEC with 765 rushing yards and ten touchdowns while averaging 6.3 yards per carry. Currently listed at 5'11" and 210 pounds, Moss is a complete back with a bright NFL future, and if he stays healthy, combined with the offense living up to its elite potential, expect Moss not only to lead the SEC in rushing, but also to finish in the top five nationally. Auburn working to flip three-star DL from Mountain West program

Auburn could add a key name to its 2026 haul after extending an offer to a UNLV pledge. Auburn football could boost its 2026 recruiting haul soon with the addition of a three-star defensive lineman from Texas. Auburn defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams extended an offer to three-star DL Isaiah Broughton this week, and could soon see a positive result. Following the offer, Sam Spiegelman of Rivals submitted a prediction that favored Auburn flipping Broughton from his current pledge to coach Dan Mullen and the UNLV Rebels. According to Spiegelman's report, Broughton committed to UNLV last month, choosing the Rebels over Vanderbilt, Texas Tech, Texas State, and others. However, with Auburn becoming Broughton's most notable offer, mutual interest is beginning to grow between both parties. Broughton is the No. 126 defensive lineman for the 2026 cycle, and is the No. 162 recruit from Texas according to 247Sports. Should the forecasted flip occur, Broughton would become the Tigers' first defensive line commit and its fifth defensive commitment of the cycle, joining Jaquez Wilkes, Hezekiah Harris, Adam Balogoun-Ali, and Wayne Henry.
