ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is searching for the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run that occurred late Thursday night in Orange County.
What we know
Troopers said the crash happened around 10:15 p.m. at the intersection of W Holden Avenue and S Orange Blossom Trail.
According to a news release, a vehicle was traveling westbound on W Holden Road when a 76-year-old Orlando man, who was not using a marked crosswalk, walked into the westbound lanes and into the path of the vehicle.
The vehicle struck the man, who was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The driver fled the scene following the crash.
Witnesses reported that the vehicle was likely a white minivan. Investigators believe it may be a white Toyota Sienna with damage to the front left headlight.
Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact FHP.

JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal vehicle crash on U.S. 90 and Mohawk Trail on Friday night. According to a news release, at approximately 9:42 p.m., a 42-year-old man of Sneads, Florida, was traveling in the eastbound lane of U.S. 90 when he failed to maintain control of his vehicle, causing him to travel northeast into the westbound lane. Authorities said that a 34-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man were traveling in the westbound lane of U.S. 90 when the 42-year-old collided with the front part of their Sedan. The Sedan rotated in a clockwise manner until coming to a final rest across both lanes of U.S. 90. Authorities said that the driver of the first vehicle has minor injuries, while the 34-year-old woman in the second vehicle has serious injuries. The 39-year-old man was pronounced dead on the scene. 3 dead in 2 Orange County crashes Monday

Two crashes in Orange County on Monday morning left three people dead and one injured, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. One two-vehicle crash occurred at 6:19 a.m. shutting down part of West Colonial Drive near Hiawassee Road for hours when a westbound vehicle attempted a left-hand turn, but was struck by an eastbound car. Killed were a 53-year-old Orlando man who was driving a 2015 Jeep Compass as well as a 51-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Jeep, FHP stated. The Jeep had just exited the the turn lane just west of Hiawassee Road and it was struck on its right side by a 2013 Nissan Maxima driven by a 21-year-old Ocoee man. The Jeep passenger was pronounced deceased on scene while the driver was transported to Heath Central Hospital, where he was declared dead, FHP said. The Maxima driver was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious, but not life-threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation. The other crash occurred at 6:16 a.m. in a parking lot off of Lake Ellenor Drive near Diplomacy Row, according to an FHP crash report. Killed in the single-vehicle crash was 64-year-old Orlando man who may have suffered a medical episode causing the 2000 Honda CR-V he was driving to collide with a column in front of a building, the report stated. He was transported to ORMC and pronounced dead. The crash also remains under investigation.
