Cape Town teen, 14, abducted and raped on her way to school

A 14-year-old girl from Langa was abducted and raped on her way to school.
Police say three occupants of a white Toyota Quantum snatched the teen.
The incident has left her traumatised.
The community of Langa in Cape Town has been left shocked and outraged following the abduction and rape of a 14-year-old girl on Tuesday morning.
According to police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk, the girl was walking to school when she briefly stopped at a spaza shop to buy chips.
The driver of a white Toyota Quantum minibus taxi apparently approached her, gave her money and asked her to buy cigarettes on his behalf.
'When she returned, the driver told her to place the cigarettes on the front passenger seat, claiming the window wasn't working,' said Van Wyk.
'As she tried to open the door, two passengers opened the sliding door and pulled her into the vehicle before driving off.'
The suspects allegedly took the girl to an isolated field, where the driver raped her. She was later placed back in the taxi and dropped off on Washington Street, Langa.
Van Wyk confirmed that the suspects were still at large and that investigations were ongoing.
Community activist and chairperson of Langa's anti-gender-based violence committee, Anele Ngqasana, said the incident had rattled residents.
'The child is still traumatised. She's in shock, and the family is trying their best to support her,' he said.
Ngqasana said the attack had also heightened concerns about rising violence in the area.
'This is not the Langa we know. We'll be pushing the government to allocate more resources to improve safety. Parents are scared, and rightfully so.'
Anyone with information that might assist the investigation is urged to contact Detective Sergeant Lee-Ann Carstens on 082 559 4598 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

Santa Rosa police responding to domestic violence call find 2 dead inside home

Two people were found dead inside a Santa Rosa apartment Wednesday afternoon by officers who were responding to a domestic violence call, police said Thursday. Around 2:40 p.m., police were called to an fourplex on the 1500 block of Atlanta Court. Officers at the scene learned from residents that they heard several gunshots about 20 minutes before police arrived. As a precaution, officers evacuated the three additional units of the apartment building. The department's Hostage Negotiations Team made repeated attempts to contact the occupants but were unsuccessful. Police called the SWAT team and a medic to the scene. After additional attempts to contact the people inside the apartment were unsuccessful, SWAT members entered the apartment around 4:30 p.m. A short time later, SWAT members found two people in a back bedroom with gunshot wounds. Both people were pronounced dead at the scene. According to a preliminary investigation, the victims were identified as a 24-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman. The pair had recently moved to Santa Rosa from Southern California. Police have not released the victims' names. Detectives served a search warrant at the home and located two pistols, an assault rifle and a shotgun, who are determined to have been owned by the man who died. Police said the woman was shot multiple times with the assault rifle and that the man had at least one gunshot wound from the same firearm. The incident is believed to have been isolated and that there is no continued risk to public safety. If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic violence, there are resources. Detroit police shoot woman after she allegedly opened fire at repo driver

A Detroit police officer shot a woman Thursday afternoon after she allegedly fired shots at a repo driver on the city's east side. Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison said officers were on a routine patrol around 3 p.m. Thursday on the 10900 block of Nottingham Road when they saw a woman with a handgun firing shots at a man in a truck. Bettison said the man was in the process of repossessing a truck a block over from where the woman allegedly shot him. Police believe that the woman, who owned the vehicle that was being repossessed, fired multiple shots at the repo driver and his truck. Bettison said officers fired shots at the woman, striking her several times. The police chief said the woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the shooting. Bettison said the repo driver was not injured. "I'm just happy to report that it could be a lot worse," said Bettison. "I'm glad that our officers weren't injured. I'm glad the repo man wasn't injured, and of course, we'll be submitting a warrant request to the Wayne County prosecutor in this case." Police recovered a weapon at the scene. This is a developing story. Stay with CBS News Detroit for the latest.
