Jeep India Announces Limited Wrangler Willys ‘41 Edition

India.com05-05-2025

Jeep India has introduced the Wrangler Willys '41 Special Edition, a limited-production model based on the Rubicon variant. This edition references the original 1941 Willys vehicle and will be restricted to 30 units for the Indian market.
The Willys '41 edition is offered in a new ''41 Green' colour, which is exclusive to this variant. A 1941 hood decal and military-style design elements distinguish this model visually. The special edition is positioned as a commemorative version marking Jeep's historical origins.
This version comes equipped with a range of additional features compared to the standard model. These include power side steps, grab handles, custom floor mats, and front and rear dash cameras. A set of optional accessories—including a Sunrider rooftop, side ladder, and roof carrier—can be added at an extra cost.
According to Jeep India, the Wrangler Willys '41 edition will be sold at a premium of ₹1.51 lakh over the regular Rubicon variant. The optional accessories pack is available for an additional ₹4.56 lakh, and can only be purchased with the Willys '41 model.
Jeep has confirmed that this model will be available through its dealership network across India for a limited period.
This launch introduces a new exterior colour option and adds functional accessories that are not part of the standard variant. No changes to the powertrain or off-road specifications have been announced as part of this edition.
The Willys '41 edition follows Jeep's pattern of releasing limited-run variants that reference earlier vehicle generations. The availability is limited, and the vehicle is targeted toward buyers interested in a visually distinct and accessory-equipped version of the Wrangler Rubicon.

Tesla leases warehousing facility in Mumbai's Kurla West for five years

Elon Musk's Tesla Inc has leased a 24,565 square-foot (sqft) warehousing facility in Mumbai's Kurla West for a five-year term, according to lease documents sourced from real estate data analytics firm CRE Matrix. The American electric carmaker will use the ground-floor space in Building 1 of Lodha Logistics Park as a service centre and garage, excluding bodywork and spray painting operations, the agreement states. This development comes to light a day after Union Heavy Industries Minister H D Kumaraswamy said Tesla was yet to show interest in manufacturing EVs in India. While the company is preparing for a market debut, local production does not figure into its immediate plans. Tesla will initially pay a monthly rent of ₹37.53 lakh (₹153 per sqft), with a 5 per cent annual escalation clause built into the lease. The licensor entity is Bellissimo (in City FC Mumbai 1), which operates in real estate services on a fee or contract basis. Tesla has deposited ₹2.25 crore as security. The lease officially commenced on April 20, 2025, with a rent-free period of one month and 10 days. Rent payments begin June 1, 2025. The lease was registered on May 16, 2025. Under the agreement, Tesla will also pay common area maintenance charges of ₹10 per sqft, with a 5 per cent annual escalation, and will receive 20 parking spots with the facility. 'Tesla's India entry is taking shape through a deliberate, multi-city rollout, from its office in Pune to flagship showrooms in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and Delhi-NCR, co-working presence in BKC, and now a strategic warehousing facility in Kurla West,' said Abhishek Kiran Gupta, CEO of CRE Matrix. 'This 24,565 sqft lease at ₹153 per sqft is more than a real estate transaction — it's a signal of intent.' In March, Tesla leased showroom space in BKC for a monthly rent of ₹35.26 lakh -- or ₹888 per sqft -- for five years. The company is reportedly leasing a second showroom in Delhi NCR's Aerocity. Tesla's registered Indian office is located at Tablespace, Panchshil Business Park in Pune, and it has also leased co-working space near BKC in Mumbai. In May, Business Standard reported that Tesla is scouting land in Satara, hometown of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, for a completely knocked down (CKD) electric vehicle assembly unit, according to a senior government official. Tesla's official entry into the Indian market is expected in the final quarter of the current financial year. The Maharashtra government previously offered Tesla industrial land in Chakan and Chikhali near Pune, both key automotive hubs. Chakan hosts several major automakers including Mercedes-Benz, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Volkswagen, and Bajaj Auto.
