‘Teachers should work hard to make India a developed nation'

Patna: Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University (RPCAU)'s vice-chancellor (VC) P S Pandey on Thursday called upon the teachers to prioritise the nation's interests and strive hard to make India a global leader.
Welcoming all the 80 newly appointed faculty members of the university after a monthlong faculty development programme, the VC expressed confidence that their joining would bring rapid progress in the university's work efficiency. He highlighted the significance of the faculty development programme in making the new teachers proficient in teaching, research, financial and administrative matters.
Speaking as the special guest at the function, Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University's former VC Arvind Kumar appreciated that for the first time, a faculty development programme has been organised in the university to equip new teachers with the necessary skills and knowledge.
He emphasised the importance of discipline and honesty in life and encouraged the teachers to work hard towards making India a developed nation by 2047.
RPCAU's former VC H P Singh appreciated the diversity of the new teachers, representing 22 states of the country. He suggested that similar programmes should be organised for existing teachers to enhance their skills.
The programme included sessions on work-life balance, communication skills and other soft skills. More than 100 renowned professors from India and abroad interacted with the new teachers and motivated them.

NEW DELHI: A total of six aircraft engine shutdown incidents and three incidents of May Day calls have been reported so far this year, according to the civil aviation ministry. As per data shared by Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol with the Rajya Sabha, there have been two incidents of engine shutdown, each involving IndiGo and SpiceJet, while Air India and Alliance Air had one such incident each. There have been three incidents of May Day Call, including for the Air India aircraft operating the London Gatwick-bound flight AI 171 that crashed into a building soon after take off from Ahmedabad on June 12. IndiGo and Air India Express also had one incident each of May Day Call. A pilot repeats May Day thrice to clearly communicate with the air traffic controller on the ground that the aircraft is in a life-threatening situation and needs urgent help.

AI-717 plane crash: Air India disburses interim compensation of ₹25 lakh to 166 families

Almost one and a half month after the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad, Air India on Saturday said that they have disbursed interim compensation of ₹ 25 lakh each to 166 families affected by the AI-717 crash. Releasing an official press release on the website, Air India said that so far AI released the interim compensation to the families of 147 of the 229 deceased passengers and also the 19 who lost their lives at the accident site. "Air India has, so far, released the interim compensation to the families of 147 of the 229 deceased passengers and also the 19 who lost their lives at the accident site," Air India said in a statement. The airliner added, among other things, that the requisite documents of 52 others have been verified, and the interim compensation to those families will be released progressively. The private airliner, run by Tata Group, said that they stands in solidarity with the families affected by the AI171 accident. "We continue to mourn their loss and remain fully committed to providing support during this difficult time," Air India said. Air India also said Tata Group has also registered 'The AI-171 Memorial and Welfare Trust' which is dedicated to the victims of the tragic accident. It added that Tata Trust pledged an ex gratia payment of ₹ 1 crore in respect of each of the deceased and would support for rebuilding the B.J. Medical College Hostel infrastructure. Air India also mentioned that Tata Trust will provide aid and assistance to alleviate any trauma or distress suffered by the first responders, medical and disaster relief professionals, social workers, and governmental staff who provided invaluable institutional support and service in the aftermath of the accident. Earlier on 12 June, Air India flight AI-717 from Ahmedabad to London's Gatwick crashed moments after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. In the tragic crash, 241 passengers and 19 people on ground were killed.
