How Soon Will Disney's ‘Lilo & Stitch' Arrive On Digital Streaming?

Forbes04-07-2025
Stitch (voice of Chris Sanders) in "Lilo & Stitch."
Disney's blockbuster Lilo & Stitch opened in theaters in late May. How soon will it be before viewers can stream the movie at home?
A live-action version of the 2002 Disney animated hit, Lilo & Stitch opened in theaters on May 23 against Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, and took the box office crown in its opening frame at Memorial Day weekend box office with $183 million in ticket sales from 4,410 North American theaters.
Rated PG, Lilo & Stitch stars Maia Kealoha as Lilo, a young Hawaiian girl who is under the care of her teenage sister, Nani (Sydney Agudong) after the loss of their parents. When Lilo adopts a furry, blue alien refugee believed to be a dog, she names her new friend Stitch, who in turn helps mend the girls' broken home and become a new family.
Chris Sanders, who co-wrote, co-directed and voiced Stitch in the animated version of Lilo & Stitch, reprises the voice role for the live-action remake. Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, Lilo & Stitch also stars Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, Courtney B. Vance, Amy Hill and Kaipo Dudoit and the voice of Hannah Waddingham.
Generally, Disney has a two-month window between the time the studio releases its films in theaters and on digital streaming via premium video on demand. For example, Disney and Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World arrived on PVOD on April 15, just over two months after it opened in theaters on Feb. 14.
More recently, Disney-Marvel's Thunderbolts* made its debut on PVOD on July 2, exactly two months after its theatrical release on May 2.
If Disney follows the same pattern as the titles above, then viewers can expect Lilo & Stitch to arrive on PVOD on either July 22 or July 29, since new films on digital streaming tend to be released on Tuesdays.
There are rare exceptions where Disney releases their films earlier than the 60 days after they debut in theaters (the financial dud Snow White hit PVOD eight days shy of the two-month window), but that's unlikely since Lilo & Stitch is a blockbuster hit in theaters.
When Lilo & Stitch arrives on PVOD, it will be available for purchase or rent on such digital platforms as Apple TV, Fandango at Home, Microsoft, Prime Video and YouTube.
New films on PVOD are generally available for purchase for anywhere between $19.99 and $29.99 and for rent for a 48-hour period for anywhere between $14.99 and $24.99.
'Lilo & Stitch' Is One Of The Top-Grossing Movies Of 2025
To date, Lilo & Stitch has earned $403.7 million domestically and $546.8 million internationally for a worldwide box office tally of $950.5 million against a $100 million production budget before prints and advertising, according to The Numbers.
A Minecraft Movie is still the No. 1 movie, domestically, in 2025, with $423.9 million in ticket sales to date.
Lilo & Stitch, however, is getting close to becoming the No. 1 film at the worldwide box office. As of Friday, Lilo & Stitch is a just under $3 million shy of A Minecraft Movie's global box office take of nearly $953.2 million.
In all likelihood, Lilo & Stitch will become the 2025 worldwide box office leader soon, since the film, per The Numbers, is still playing in 2,900 North American theaters while A Minecraft Movie is going into the 4th of July weekend in only 46 venues.

Jimmy Kimmel attends anti-Trump rally as president predicts his cancellation

Jimmy Kimmel is taking time out of his vacation to protest against President Donald Trump amid 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert's' cancellation and the president's prediction Kimmel is on the chopping block, too. The 57-year-old host shared a photo of himself at an anti-Trump protest with his family just days after the president threatened his show could be 'next.' 'I absolutely love that Colbert got fired. I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next,' Trump wrote on Truth Social post. 'Has even less talent than Colbert!' Trump also took a shot at late-night host Jimmy Fallon, adding he is 'the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show.' Kimmel responded to the president's threats with a pointed caption writing, 'May every day be another wonderful secret,' he said referencing the letter Trump allegedly wrote to Jeffrey Epstein. In the post, Kimmel is photographed with his wife and children as they hold signs that include the phrases, 'Don't bend the knee, 'Make America Good Again' and 'I wish we had a better president!' This all comes amid the abrupt announcement that Stephen Colbert's 'The Late Show' would end next year after 10 seasons. The ending of the longtime show raised the eyebrows of many given the timing. Earlier this month, Paramount settled a $16 million settlement with Trump after the president accused the network of giving a flatting edit to a '60 Minutes' interview with Kamala Harris. Paramount released a statement insisting that ending 'The Late Show' is 'purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night.' The network also said the decision was 'not related in any way to the show's performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount.' _____

Fore! Happy Gilmore is one of 5 movies leaving Netflix that you have to watch (July 2025)

Unfortunately, movies are removed from streaming services every month. This July on Netflix is particularly rough because the list of movies departing the service is strong. Happy Gilmore is one of Adam Sandler's best comedies, and the sequel finally arrives this month. I understand that licensing agreements determine when a movie leaves a service, but having Happy Gilmore leave days after Happy Gilmore 2's premiere isn't right. Happy Gilmore is only one of the top movies leaving in July. We spotlighted an entire group of films exiting the service soon, so make sure to watch them now before it's too late. Recommended Videos We also have guides to the best new movies to stream, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on HBO Max, and the best movies on Disney+. The Place Beyond the Pines (2012) Derek Cianfrance makes movies for the sad boys. His films typically revolve around the complicated relationships we share with our significant others and family. Cianfrance recruited Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper to play his brooding men in The Place Beyond the Pines. In upstate New York, Luke (Gosling) is a stunt driver turned bank robber who hopes to provide a life for his estranged son. Avery (Cooper) is a rookie police officer trying to make a name for himself. A chance meeting between Luke and Avery changes the trajectory of their lives, and the decisions made that day will affect each of their sons. Be prepared to call your parents after watching this moving epic. Stream The Place Beyond the Pines on Netflix. The Town (2010) It's fitting that Ben Affleck, one of Boston's most recognizable faces, played an integral part in two of the city's pantheon movies: Good Will Hunting and The Town. Affleck directed the latter in the middle of his career comeback. In Charlestown, Boston, Doug MacRay (Ben Affleck) and his friends — Jem Coughlin (Jeremy Renner), Albert 'Gloansy' MacGloan (Slaine), and Desmond 'Dez' Elden (Owen Burke) — rob banks in the surrounding area for a local gangster. During one of the holdups, the group takes a hostage, Claire Keesey (Rebecca Hall), but lets her go unharmed. Later on, Doug — who wore a mask during the robbery to protect his identity — meets with Claire to learn what she knows about the robbers. He ends up falling in love with her and tries to escape his criminal past. Easier said than done, especially when Doug's employer threatens to hurt Claire. Stream The Town on Netflix. Happy Gilmore (1996) This month marks the arrival of Happy Gilmore 2, the highly anticipated sequel featuring Sandler's rambunctious hockey player who surprisingly became a professional golfer. Unfortunately, Happy Gilmore is leaving the service at the end of the month, right as the sequel premieres. Start your rewatches now before it's too late. Happy Gilmore (Sandler) dreams of becoming a successful hockey player. However, Happy doesn't possess the skills to thrive on the ice, forcing him to find a new career path. When his grandmother's house faces foreclosure, Happy capitalizes on his gift — driving a golf ball over 400 yards — by attempting to make it on the PGA Tour. While Happy's skills have what it takes to hang, his temper and unorthodox style might get him kicked off before he ever plays. Stream Happy Gilmore on Netflix. Dunkirk (2017) Does Christopher Nolan make Oppenheimer without the success of Dunkirk? It's hard to tell. However, Dunkirk clearly scratched Nolan's World War II itch, one that would lead to his Oscar-winning epic in 2023. Based on the famous operation in WWII, Dunkirk follows a group of Allied forces attempting to escape the beaches of Dunkirk. Using a nonlinear narrative, Nolan depicts the evacuation on three battlefronts: air, land, and sea. The soldiers race towards freedom across the English Channel as the movie unfolds with a sense of urgency. With a rapid 106-minute runtime, Dunkirk proves Nolan has the goods to deliver an epic spectacle that's deeply moving and thrilling. Stream Dunkirk on Netflix. Dawn of the Dead (2004) The last two directors to helm live-action Superman movies are James Gunn and Zack Snyder. Back in 2004, the two filmmakers collaborated on the remake of Dawn of the Dead, with Gunn penning the script and Snyder directing. In the Milwaukee area, a zombie outbreak decimates the population. Ana (Sarah Polley) and a group of survivors manage to find shelter in a local mall. As the group learns more about the zombies' habits, they determine that the only way to ensure survival is to escape the city on a boat. With Gunn's witty humor and Snyder's fast-paced action, Dawn of the Dead is a remake that stands out and justifies its existence. It also makes you wonder what would have happened to Snyder's DC Extended Universe if Gunn wrote the scripts. Stream Dawn of the Dead on Netflix.
