Murder, rape threats: Karnataka Women's Commission seeks action against Darshan fans for abusing actor-turned-politician Ramya
The Karnataka State Commission for Women (KSCW) Monday wrote to the Bengaluru city police seeking action against those posting derogatory comments against actor-turned-politician Ramya over her post on the Renukaswamy murder case, in which popular Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa is an accused. In a letter to Bengaluru city police commissioner, KSCW chairperson Dr Nagalakshmi Chowdhary said, 'This is affecting the dignity of women. The State Women's Commission has taken the issue seriously.' The Commission has also demanded that the police ensure that such abusive messages aimed at Ramya are stopped at the earliest. The actor is also expected to file a police complaint later in the day. Ramya, the former MP of Mandya, came under attack from alleged fans of Thoogudeepa after she hailed the Supreme Court, which pulled the Karnataka High Court last week over the granting of bail to the actor in the Renukaswamy murder case. Ramya had posted on X Thursday, 'SC is a ray of hope for the common people of India – justice for the family of Renukaswamy.' Responding to the trolling and abusive messages, Ramya had Sunday posted on Instagram, 'To all the DBoss fans – Welcome to my Instagram. Then, she had posted that no one was above the law, and no one should take the law into their hands. Renukaswamy was allegedly murdered for sending abusive messages to Thoogudeepa's friend and fellow actor Pavithra Gowda. Thoogudeepa was granted bail in December last year, which was challenged in the Supreme Court.
