Jack Draper's surprise second-round loss on Thursday to former finalist Marin Cilic left Norrie as the last home hope standing in the men's draw in SW19.
To the delight of high-spirited spectators on his favoured Court One, the 2022 semi-finalist delivered, recovering from a slow start to dispatch Italian world number 73 Mattia Bellucci 7-6 (5) 6-4 6-3.

British number three Norrie will take on Chilean qualifier Nicolas Jarry in round four, with two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz a potential quarter-final opponent.
'It's important to use the crowd to your advantage,' he said.
'I was just pulling from random people, getting fired up with them. You can see they're loving it.
'Obviously Friday afternoon, people had a few drinks. I could feel that. Getting behind me. It was nice to see.
'I wanted to try to give them something to cheer about. I think the people quite like it when you look at them and get fired up. They feel like they've played a part in the win.
'I wanted to pull from the energy from not just my team but from some random people in the crowd. I've seen Andy Murray do that a lot in his matches. Yeah, it was so much fun today.'
Norrie, who has plummeted from a career-high ranking of eighth to 61st, conceded he 'stole' an unconvincing opening set from Bellucci on a tie-break after being broken in the opening game.
He gradually took control of a tight contest to enhance his enviable Court One record, having won eight of nine matches there across his career, including his impressive second-round success over 12th seed Frances Tiafoe.
The 29-year-old is also open to returning to Centre Court – the scene of his four-set, last-four defeat to Novak Djokovic three years ago – for Sunday's showdown with Jarry but will not be making any official requests.
'If I'm playing my next match on Centre Court, that's great,' he said.

'I feel there's the tendency to be a little bit more respectful on that Centre Court in terms of energy and crowd, noise and everything.
'I felt like today on Court One, there were a few difficult moments for me that the crowd got really fired up – some love 30 (down), love 40 (down).
'I managed to switch the energy and switch the momentum of the match. I think that was huge to use that today. Yeah, I felt that.
'I obviously played Centre Court a few times. The match with Djokovic, they got loud as well. I'm not saying that doesn't happen.
'I just feel a little bit more on Court One – it's maybe just a little bit biased (because of) winning there and playing well there.'

Jamie Vardy handed Celtic transfer pitch as two deals reach endgame

Brendan Rodgers has openly admitted that he wants to add more firepower this summer Free agent Jamie Vardy has been urged to reunite with Brendan Rodgers at Celtic. ‌ The Leicester City hero is still searching for his next club after leaving the King Power Stadium to a close at the end of last season. ‌ The 38-year-old has been touted with a move to Italy while reports also suggest that Crystal Palace are set to offer the veteran a short-term deal this summer. ‌ But former England international Nigel Martyn reckons that there is "nothing better" than a link up with former Foxes' boss Rodgers for Vardy at this stage of the window. Speaking via Parimatch, Martyn said: " Jamie Vardy has been an unbelievable striker for Leicester City, hasn't he? I mean, his goals have been tremendous. "His game was initially based around his pace, but he's clever. There have been plenty of strikers who can boast unbelievable pace, but not as many who use their brain and time their runs as good as well as Vardy does. You don't see him caught offside very often at all. "He's been an incredible player for Leicester City. He'll want to keep going as long as he can. He comes across as the sort of player who looks like he loves doing what he's doing. "If you can find a former manager who enjoys working with you, like Brendan Rodgers in this case, then there's nothing better for a player. "It helps you feel secure. You're able to have the honest conversations around how much match time you'll be actually getting and that type of thing. ‌ "I have no doubt that Jamie Vardy will be a threat to anyone up in Scotland if he joins Celtic. He can start games one week and play up to 60 minutes, and the next week he could come off the bench and make an impact. "As a centre-half, the last thing you want to see after playing 70 minutes is somebody like Jamie Vardy and his pace come on to the pitch." Giuseppe Ambrosino has also been touted with a move to Celtic on loan from Napoli - but the Italian Under-21 youth international looks set to remain with the Scudetto winners. ‌ Amid interest from the Hoops and Serie A rivals Cremonese, boss Antonio Conte has opened up on the future of the 23-year-old striker. He said: "Ambrosino has joined us now, he has good prospects, we need to understand what's best for him, where to play or have him stay with us and grow humbly behind Lukaku and Lucca, also because I want to talk to the players about these decisions. They need to be convinced." ‌ Norwegian winger Sondre Orjasaeter had been on Celtic 's radar - but has now completed a move to FC Twente from Sarpsborg. Celtic previously saw a £4.4million offer turfed out for the 21-year-old with the Eredivise side sealing a deal for £5million which could rise to £7million with add-ons. After sealing the move, Orjasaeter said: "It feels really good to be here. I have already had many good impressions of FC Twente. "I had heard a lot about the club and the supporters beforehand, and I am looking forward to playing in this fantastic stadium in front of so many fans."

Celtic-linked striker could make 'U-turn' over future

The Parkhead club were said to be interested in a move for the centre-forward earlier this summer. Ambrosino spent last season on loan at Frosinone from Napoli, scoring five goals in 37 games. It was previously reported that he could be on the move this window, although local Italian newspaper Corriere del Mezzogiorno (via claims that 'there could be a U-turn'. It is said that Ambrosino is 'valuable' for the Napoli squad, and that he could stay, despite interest from fellow Serie A outfit Cremonese, who are trying to sign him on loan with an option to buy. Read more: The 21-year-old is training separately at Napoli's training ground as he awaits confirmation over his future. Celtic's pursuit of Ambrosino has gone dormant in recent weeks. Brendan Rodgers remains on the hunt for attacking reinforcements, although he had no updates on potential incomings after his side's 2-0 win over Aberdeen at the weekend. He said [Sky Sports]: "Look, I think that I've got no news now at this very moment on where we're at. "Our job between now and the end of the window is to make Celtic the very best that we possibly can. In the meantime, we'll continue to develop the players that are here and improve them. "Of course, I want Celtic to live in the very best possible place that it can be. And for me, that'll be us signing more players at the top end of the pitch. But I can't magic them in there, and if they're not there, then we'll work with the players that are there and make them the very best that they can be. "We know what we need to strengthen. We know where we want to live and be the best that we can be - we have to."

Hidden Lewis Hamilton contract clause comes to light as Ferrari left powerless

A report from Italy claims Lewis Hamilton holds a unilateral power thanks to the fine print with his Ferrari contract which could be the deciding factor in how long his stay with the Scuderia will be Lewis Hamilton has complete control over whether or not his Ferrari career will end after the 2026 season. That is according to a report in Italy which claims the Scuderia has no power to stop the British driver from extending his stay into the 2027 campaign, even if they were to decide to go in a different direction. ‌ It has been a tough adjustment for the seven-time Formula 1 champion since making the switch. He joined Ferrari in the hope of having a better chance of challenging for silverware than he feared he might get if he stuck with the Mercedes outfit he represented with distinction for more than a decade. ‌ But there have been few highlights so far in a Ferrari shirt. The Hungarian Grand Prix last time out was a particular low point, as he failed to score a point for the first time all year, finishing 12th after a poor qualifying, following which he declared himself "useless". ‌ Hamilton is sixth in the drivers' standings, just one place below team-mate Charles Leclerc but 42 points behind the Monegasque who has managed five Grand Prix podiums so far in 2025, while his British partner has yet to experience that since switching to Ferrari. He turns 41 in January and it is clear that Hamilton is in the twilight of his remarkable F1 career. As it stands, the Ferrari contract he signed expires in 2026, though it has long been understood that his £50million-per-year deal contains an option to extend that stay for another season beyond that. But that is not something that, according to the Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ferrari can trigger themselves. The newspaper claims Hamilton is the one who holds the unilateral power to decide whether or not he will remain in that seat in 2027. It is reported that the Brit was able to get such a clause inserted into his deal because of the commercial benefits his presence brings to the team and to Ferrari as a wider organisation. The company's stock price rocketed on the day the news broke that the F1 legend would be joining. Leclerc also has a long-term contract, signed last year, which is expected to keep him tied to Ferrari until 2029. That means the Scuderia has very little wiggle room over its driver line-up for the next three years at least, given the power Hamilton wields in regards to his own future. As for Hamilton's long-term successor, Ferrari believe they already have a star of the future on the books. Oliver Bearman is being somewhat groomed as a Ferrari driver of the future, being retained as an affiliated racer despite being signed to customer team Haas. But the decision over when that might happen, it seems, rests with Hamilton. Though the seven-time champion is very self-aware and is unlikely to prolong his Ferrari career if he does come to the conclusion that he is no longer at the peak of his powers.
