Chelsea have reached an agreement to sell Renato Veiga to Villarreal, according to reports. Veiga joined Chelsea on a seven-year contract from FC Basel just 12 months ago, for a fee thought to be in the region of £12million. But the versatile defender failed to secure regular playing time under Enzo Maresca and was sent on loan to Serie A giants Juventus in January, where he went on to make 15 appearances in all competitions. Though Veiga did his reputation no harm with a string of assured displays at the heart of Juve's defence, he returned to Stamford Bridge from Turin with his immediate future up in the air earlier this summer. The Blues made it clear they would be unable to guarantee the 22-year-old a regular starting role for the 2025/26 campaign, prompting his camp to begin sounding out potential suitors around Europe. Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan have all been credited with an interest, but Villarreal have asserted themselves as the overwhelming favourites to land the Portugal international – who is comfortable operating at both centre-back and in central midfield. According to Fabrizio Romano, Villarreal's discussions have advanced at a pace in recent days and the La Liga outfit have now struck a deal with both Veiga's camp and Chelsea over a €29.5million (£25.5m) package, including add-ons. It's claimed the deal will include a 'heavy' sell-on clause, with Chelsea set to retain a significant percentage of any future transfer fee should the player be sold on again. The move would see Veiga become Villarreal's club-record signing, surpassing Arnaut Danjuma's €23.5m (£20.4m) switch from Bournemouth four years ago. There had still been six years remaining on Veiga's contract at Stamford Bridge, which he signed upon arrival from Basel. There was no place for Veiga on the substitutes bench as Chelsea were held to a goalless draw in their opening match of the Premier League season with Crystal Palace. It was only last October that Maresca singled Veiga out for special praise after handing the defender a rare start in Chelsea's Europa Conference League defeat of Panathinaikos. 'He has already played four or five positions. One of my first press conferences, I said that the reason why I really like and love Chelsea is because many players can be versatile. Marco Pierre White Jr pleads guilty to burglary again after stealing £1,500 worth of Jellycat soft toys in crime spree
THE son of a famous chef has plead guilty to another burglary offence following a west London crime spree. Marco Pierre White Jr admitted to a number of burglaries including stealing £1,500 of Jellycat toys. 1 He caused a further £43,000 in damage to the shop, as he reportedly wrecked four mounted crystals and the entrance door at an antiques shop. While he has pleaded guilty to burglary and criminal damage, he disputes the cost of the damage. On June 12, he stole a laptop, tablet, iPod and a till tray from Kensington-based Italian deli, La Piccola. During another burglary in Kensington and Chelsea on June 15 he took two natural rock crystal formations and caused £7,775 in damage to the front door. On July 21, he broke into a high street store in Barnes, taking £1,500 of Jellycat toys. Pierre White Jr admitted to four counts of burglary and one count of criminal damage via video link from HMP Wandsworth as he appeared at Isleworth Crown Court. He denied, however, one count of robbery, and is accused of stealing 26 bottles of personal hygiene products from a beauty store in Kensington and Chelsea on May 25 this year, to a value of £1,331. He previously admitted to the burglary at a tattoo shop called Behind Bars in Weston-Super-Mare last year. He was previously jailed for eight weeks in August for stealing socks from a Sainsbury's supermarket. He previously faced backlash following an 11-day stint on Celebrity Big Brother in 2016, with hundreds of complaints to Ofcom.

Joey Jones remembered as "incredible human being" in emotional service for Wrexham legend
A memorial service to honour the life of former Wrexham, Liverpool and Chelsea star Joey Jones was attended by more than 2000 fans and a number of fellow footballing legends Football legend Joey Jones was remembered as an 'incredible human being' at an emotional memorial service today. Sir Kenny Dalglish led a huge number of former Liverpool, Chelsea, Wrexham and Huddersfield Town players to attend. Jones' close friends and former Wales and Chelsea team-mates Mickey Thomas and Eddie Niedzwiecki both broke down in tears as they paid their own personal tributes. It was an extraordinary day here in Wrexham as 2000 fans listened to speakers recall their memories of the 'legend' Jones died aged 70 last month. His coffin was carried out of the stadium by ex team-mates including Ian Rush, Kevin Ratcliffe and Niedzwecki to the sound of Gerry and the Pacemakers 'You'll never Walk Alone.' Some fans were crying as they said goodbye to their hero. The defender was immortalised when Liverpool supporters memorably unfurled a banner at the 1977 European Cup final against Borussia Monchengladbach having already beaten Saint Etienne and FC Zurich. It famously read: "Joey Ate The Frogs Legs, Made The Swiss Roll, Now He's Munching Gladbach." The original banner was fixed to seats behind one of the goals. Among the other Liverpool players to attend were Ian Callaghan, Howard Gayle and David Fairclough. Chelsea were represented by Mark Hughes, Thomas, Niedzwiecki, Colin Lee and Gary Chivers. Wrexham legend Arfon Griffiths led a huge contingent of former home town players Niedzwiecki sald: 'they don't make them like our Joey Joey would help anyone He was a cult hero for Chelsea.' He recalled a match between Liverpool and Chelsea at Anfield when Jones was sub for the Blues and both sets of fans chanted his name as he was so revered. Thomas drew sustained spontaneous applause when he called for a statue of Jones to be erected in Wrexham and called Jones who he had known since he was 14 as 'an incredible human being.' Liverpool.s club chaplain. Bill Bygroves recalled how Jones was a childhood Liverpool supporter and had 'Liver Bird tattoo' on his arm. He said the club and its owners sent 'heartfelt condolences" and said Jones was a 'good and humble man' and would live forever in the hearts of Liverpool fans. He said the date Jones was signed for Liverpool for just £110,000 on 14th July 1975 was a great day in the club's history. Dozens of Chelsea fans made the long trip north to pay their respects. Chelsea fan, and author, Kelvin Barker said: 'Joey was a cult hero for us at Chelsea and I know he was the same at the other clubs he played for. 'It's an honour to pay our respects alongside Wrexham, Liverpool and Huddersfield supporters. It's rare that one player can be such a hero at so many clubs -that's a real testament to Joey as a football player but more importantly as a fantastic man.' Greig Sarath, 57, from St Ives, Cambs, said: 'I had to be here to pay my respects to one of Chelsea's greatest ever characters. 'He will never be forgotten at Stamford Bridge. I'm so pleased I saw quite a few Chelsea shirts here.' The mourners were treated to passionate singing from the Fron Male Voice choir who sang the Welsh National Anthem and Abide with Me. The family asked that donations in memory of Joey are made to the British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK, Dementia UK and Dogs Trust.
