How did Baccus fare on return to St Mirren?

Yahooa day ago
Keanu Baccus said he was returning to his "home away from home" after re-joining St Mirren just over a year after leaving for Mansfield Town.
Manager Stephen Robinson said the Buddies have "arguably one of the best midfields in the league now",
So, how did the Australian international fare on his return to Scottish football, as his side drew 0-0 with Motherwell?
Well, two shots on target, a couple of attacking actions in the box, and a team-high nine passes in the final third could well be the start of him trending towards the dynamic midfielder many Paisley punters will remember.
Five out of his eight long passes found a team-mate, with 23 of his 31 passes being accurate as he completed 90 minutes in the goalless draw.
It was a relatively cagey game, with the visitors dominating the ball, but Baccus and co stood firm and denied them any real sights at goal.
A controlled and promising return for Baccus.

Highest individual scores in T20Is (SA): Brevis tops record books with unbeaten 125 against Australia

Dewald Brevis etched his name in South African cricket history with a blistering unbeaten 125 against Australia in Darwin, steering his side to a commanding 218/7 in the first innings. His knock is now the highest individual score in T20Is for South Africa, overtaking Faf du Plessis' 119 against West Indies in 2015, and also sets the highest individual score in T20Is against Australia, surpassing Ruturaj Gaikwad's 123* in Guwahati in 2023. The innings also put Brevis at the top of the list for highest individual scores in T20Is in Australia, ahead of Shane Watson's 124* against India in Sydney in 2016 and Glenn Maxwell's 120* against West Indies in Adelaide in 2024. This new milestone reshapes South Africa's T20I batting honours list, placing Brevis above Richard Levi's 117* versus New Zealand in 2012, Reeza Hendricks' 117 against Pakistan in 2024, and Morne van Wyk's 114* against West Indies in 2015. Brevis' innings was a masterclass in aggressive strokeplay, mixing clean hitting with calculated shot selection to dismantle the Australian bowling attack. His ability to find the gaps and clear the ropes at will provided the Proteas with a formidable total, ensuring his effort will be remembered among the greatest in both South African and Australian T20I history. St Mirren 0, Motherwell 0: Stalemate in Paisley

Motherwell and St Mirren battled out a 0-0 draw in Paisley that maintains the Lanarkshire side's unbeaten start to their Premiership campaign. Both sides had chances that drew saves from the respective goalkeepers, but the teams more or less cancelled each other out on a blustery afternoon. Motherwell dominated the first half on possession and chances, but didn't do enough with what they created. Ibrahim Said saw a low shot well saved and Tawanda Maswanhise curled a shot round a post, but all too often their moves ended with a final pass going astray. The second period was much more even, with Alex Gogic nearly opening the scoring with a header. St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson made two changes to the side that lost narrowly at Celtic last Sunday, as Miguel Freckleton and new signing Keanu Baccus came in for Richard King and Fraser Taylor. Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou also made two changes, with Stephen O'Donnell and Ibrahim Said in for Liam Gordon and Apostolos Stamatelopoulos. Said was sent through on goal on the right in 21 minutes, with Shamal George brilliantly saving his low shot. Callum Slattery's corner from the left was knocked out only as far as Johnny Koutroumbis in 27 minutes, but he fired high and wide of the right post. Tawanda Maswanhise went on a run from right to left, before checking inside and curling a shot round the right post in 35 minutes. Elijah Just tried his luck with a wind assisted effort as the first half drifted into stoppage time, but it drifted wide. Phillips tried his luck with a chip in 55 minutes, but though it sailed in the wind, it was no problem for Calum Ward. Motherwell were given a real let-off in 60 minutes when keeper Calum Ward played the ball straight to Mikael Mandron, but St Mirren couldn't capitalise on the error and the former Steelman eventually fired over. Marcus Fraser was booked for a cynical foul on Maswanhise as he raced through on goal in 65 minutes, with Slattery's free kick brilliantly pushed away from the bottom right corner by George in 65 minutes. Alex Gogic nearly gave St Mirren the lead with a header from Phillips' cross, that Ward did well to claw over in 78 minutes. Phiillips had a shot from distance saved in 85 minutes. Baccus had a low shot saved from around 25 yards in 89 minutes. At the other end, Slattery's cross from the right was headed by Stamatelopoulos, but comfortably held by George. Motherwell are still finding a cutting edge, but hopefully fans see what we're doing, says defender

Stephen O'Donnell admits Motherwell are still trying to find their cutting edge, but hopes fans can see what they're trying to do, after drawing 0-0 at St Mirren on Saturday. The Steelmen dominated the first half in Paisley, and though their hosts came into the game more in the second half, they looked comfortable in a 0-0 draw. Ibrahim Said saw a low shot well saved and Tawanda Maswanhise curled a shot round the right post in the first half, while in the second period Saints went closest when Calum Ward was forced to claw an Alex Gogic header over the bar. O'Donnell said: 'It's a tough place to come. Their manager, Stevie Robinson, I've worked with him before, he's really good at his job, he can mix it up, he can be aggressive and he can play, and I think you saw a bit of that from them today. 'I think you could definitely see what we're trying to do. In the first half we did dominate, but maybe lacked creativity – which isn't an issue. 'We all need to build together at the start, and the cherry on the cake is trying to get that final touch. 'You can see what we're doing. We're doing really well, all the players in the forward areas are building with us together, so with a bit more time and work in training, I'm sure that will come right.' O'Donnell added: 'They had a couple of corners in the first half and a wee spell in the second half, but on the whole, they only had a couple of efforts from outside the box. READ MORE: Motherwell boss Jens Berthel Askou says 'point gained' from Saints stalemate READ MORE: St Mirren 0, Motherwell 0: Stalemate in Paisley 'On the flip side, we didn't create much, but again you can come here and get dominated physically, and they can build and play some good stuff. 'So I thought we did really well.' Johnny Koutroumbis went off with an injury in Paisley, and O'Donnell hopes he can recover for their Premier Sports Cup last 16 clash at St Johnstone on Saturday. He said: 'We had a few injuries to key players, it's disappointing to see Johnny Koutroumbis coming off because he's started the season really well. 'But we've got a week before the next game, St Johnstone is going to be tough, and we need to make sure we're ready for it and hopefully get a good result.'
