This latest postponement, as noted by DAILY POST, marks the second delay in the election process, following an earlier disruption in November 2024 over disputes concerning rotational leadership arrangements.
The Catholic Bloc, it will be recalled, had threatened to boycott the election unless their candidate was given the chance to assume the chairmanship position of the association.
Efforts to resolve the impasse, including the establishment of an electoral college with representatives from CAN's five blocs, seem not to have yielded results, leaving the chapter in a state of uncertainty.
According to reports, the latest postponement stems from a petition filed by the Global Methodist Church against one of the candidates, Rev. Philip Micah Dopah.
In the midst of the mounting tension, some stakeholders, who spoke with our reporter, have accused the former CAN chairman, Rev. Isaiah Jirape, of orchestrating the confusion.
They also claimed that Jirape is working to influence the election outcome to install a successor who will allow him to maintain control over the association's leadership.
His alleged interference, according to the critics, is driven by a personal vendetta against the state governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, who, Daily Post learned, in 2024 declined to reappoint him as Chairman of the Taraba State Christian Pilgrim Welfare Board.
Since then, Jirape is said to have used his influence to undermine the governor's preferred candidate, according to one of the critics.
Efforts to obtain comments from Jirape have been unsuccessful, as his phone remained unreachable at the time of this report.
The ongoing crisis has raised alarms among stakeholders, who fear the prolonged delays and internal conflicts could weaken CAN's unity and diminish its capacity to serve as a voice for the Christian community in Taraba State.

Over 500 killed around GHF aid distributions in Gaza: UN - War on Gaza
More than 500 Palestinians have been killed in the vicinity of the US- and Israel-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation's (GHF) distribution sites since late May, the United Nations said on Friday. The GHF, presented as a private initiative, began operating on 26 May after Israel enforced a total blockade on all supplies into Gaza for more than two months, triggering warnings of famine. Since then, Israeli troops have repeatedly opened fire on Palestinians gathering near GHF aid sites. The UN said these incidents, along with Israeli attacks on humanitarian convoys, have resulted in hundreds of deaths. 'We have recorded 613 killings near GHF distribution points and near humanitarian convoys since the GHF began operations, until noon on 27 June,' UN human rights office spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani told reporters. 'Of the 613, 509 were killed near GHF distribution points,' she said. The rest were killed near UN and non-UN aid convoys. Shamdasani said the numbers are likely higher, as the UN continues to receive further reports of Israeli attacks it is working to corroborate. Call for investigation She added that Israel's refusal to grant access to Gaza was obstructing independent verification. 'It is clear that the Israeli military has shelled and shot at Palestinians trying to reach the distribution points,' Shamdasani said. 'How many killings? Who is responsible? We need an investigation. We need access. We need an independent inquiry, and we need accountability for these killings.' The UN and major humanitarian groups have refused to work with the GHF, warning that it was created to serve Israeli military interests and violates core humanitarian principles. Headquartered in Delaware, the GHF is chaired by Johnnie Moore, a Christian evangelical leader and ally of US President Donald Trump. On Thursday, the foundation claimed to have distributed over a million food boxes in Gaza. 'We have not had a single violent incident in our distribution sites. Rik Peeperkorn, the World Health Organization's representative in the occupied Palestinian territories, condemned the killings: 'The senseless killing in Gaza must stop.' The Coptic Orthodox Church issued a statement on 22 June mourning the 20 martyrs who lost their lives earlier that day in a suicide bombing in the church of Saint Elias in Damascus,Syria. The statement read: 'The Coptic Orthodox Church, led by Pope Tawadros II, bids farewell to the martyrs of Syria as they march towards the paradise of eternal joy. These martyrs fell as a result of the treacherous suicide bombing that took place inside the church of Saint Elias in the Douilaa in Damascus, Syria on Sunday 22 June 2025. 'We condemn the heinous bombing and all similar forms of violence, intimidation, and the stripping of any human being of their natural right to live in safety. The blood of the righteous Abel continues to cry out, bearing witness to human injustice towards fellow humans when evil takes control and the scale of righteousness is upset, so as to leading to a belief that killing is a good deed that pleases God. 'We pray that the comfort of the Holy Spirit fills the heart of our brother, His Beatitude Patriarch John X Yazigi, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for the Greek Orthodox Church, as well as the hearts of the martyrs' families. According to Reuters, at least 20 people were killed and dozens injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up at Mar-Elias Church in the Dweila neighbourhood of Syria's capital Damascus on Sunday 22 June. Syria's Interior Ministry said the suicide bomber was a member of IS, Islamic State. He entered the church, opened fire and then detonated his explosive vest. Syria's Health Ministry reported that 52 persons were also injured in the blast. Scenes from inside the church showed destruction, a bloodied floor, and shattered pews and masonry. Local Church sources say the church included between 350 and 400 worshippers that day. Islamic State has been behind several attempted attacks on churches in Syria since Assad's fall. The Syria martyrs have been mourned by Churches in Egypt and all throughout the region, also by the Councils of Egypt and Middle East Churches. They unanimously expressed pain, dubbing the bombing 'a wound in our heart', and expressed fears for Christian presence in the Middle East. Israa Farhan A deadly suicide bombing struck Saint Elias Church in the Syrian capital Damascus on Sunday, leaving at least 15 people dead and several others injured, according to local authorities.
