Before Scheyer took over the program, recently capping off his third season at Duke, the Blue Devils were headed by one of the greatest coaches in college basketball history, Mike Krzyzewski.
A video of Krzyzewski surfaced on Tuesday, where he spoke on the state of the Blue Devils' college basketball program.
Krzyzewski reviewed Cooper Flagg, one of the top freshmen in the country this past season. He also named some of the most talented players to have ever played for the Blue Devils, including Grant Hill whom he hailed as the greatest player to ever play at Duke.
"Grant (Hill) is the best player to ever play at Duke," Krzyzewski said. "Laettner is the most accomplished... Cooper is definitely the best Freshman that has ever played."
Grant Hill played with the Duke Blue Devils from 1990 to 1994.

Hill also won the ACC Player of the Year award during the 1994 college basketball season.

Grant Hill played for the Detroit Pistons from 1994 to 2000. He also spent time with the Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers.
Hill retired from the NBA in 2013, finishing his basketball career as a member of the 1997 All-NBA First-Team, four-time member of the All-NBA Second-Team and a seven-time All-Star.

Duke agrees to home-and-home with HBCU power
NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk State Director of Athletics Dr. Melody Webb and head women's basketball coach Jermaine Woods have reached an agreement for a home-and-home series with nationally ranked Duke, bringing a major HBCU matchup to life over the next two seasons. The Spartans will travel to Duke's Cameron Indoor Stadium on Nov. 12, 2025. The following season, the Blue Devils will make their first-ever visit to Echols Hall. Tipoff times for both games will be announced later. 'This is a landmark moment for our women's basketball program and our university,' Webb said. 'Hosting a nationally ranked team like Duke highlights our commitment to raising the profile of Norfolk State Athletics. It also provides our student-athletes and fans with a chance to experience top-tier competition on our campus.' The two programs have met only once before. In 2002, Duke defeated Norfolk State 95-48 in the NCAA Tournament's first round, shortly after NSU won its first MEAC Tournament Championship. The 2026 visit by Duke will be the first time an Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) opponent plays at Norfolk State, marking a historic milestone for the HBCU. The Blue Devils finished last season 29-8 and reached the Elite Eight, ending the year ranked No. 7 nationally. 'I appreciate Coach Kara Lawson's willingness to set up this series,' Woods said. 'Collaborations like this help HBCUs gain national visibility. Her return to Norfolk will benefit our program, university, and the community.' Norfolk State enters the 2025-26 season after winning its third consecutive MEAC Tournament title and earning a No. 13 seed in the NCAA Tournament - the program's highest seeding to date. Trade Idea Moves Dolphins' Tyreek Hill to Patriots
Trade Idea Moves Dolphins' Tyreek Hill to Patriots originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New England Patriots are in the midst of a dramatic overhaul within their wide receiver room as they look to provide Drake Maye with more offensive weapons ahead of his sophomore campaign. Advertisement The Patriots made one of the biggest splashes of the offseason by signing All-Pro wideout and then-free agent Stefon Diggs to a three-year, $63.5 million contract. Two weeks prior to acquiring Diggs, they added another veteran presence to the team in the form of Mack Hollins. David Carr, an analyst at believes the Patriots should not stop there. He thinks the team is due for another newcomer to join the position group: Tyreek Hill, a player who will bring unprecedented speed in the slot – and almost certainly will grab headlines in the Boston area. "The Dolphins might be wary of trading within the division, but if not, the Patriots and Drake Maye certainly could use Hill's services in the passing attack," Carr wrote. "New England has admirably overhauled the offense this offseason, and Hill would continue that trend by giving Josh McDaniels a guy who can elevate his attack to the next level due to his speed and field-stretching ability." Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill (10) on the field before the game against the New York Jets at MetLife Carchietta-Imagn Images Carr specifically sees Hill as a potential trade candidate given the volatile relationship that has developed between Hill and the Miami Dolphins organization in the past year. Advertisement "It actually started when he voiced his frustrations at the end of a disappointing 2024 campaign in Miami, both for the Fins (who finished below .500 for the first time since 2019) and Hill (who missed the Pro Bowl for the first time in his nine-year career). The star receiver publicly expressed a desire to play elsewhere, an idea the Dolphins nixed and Hill himself quickly backtracked on," Carr wrote. "However, I'm not convinced Miami will keep him, considering his off-field issues and the fact that the franchise can save nearly $15 million by moving him, per Over the Cap." Hill has already garnered a long list of achievements – five All-Pro First Team honors, eight Pro Bowl nods, six 1,000-yard seasons, and one Super Bowl championship – that place him amongst the best wide receivers of the 21st century. In nine total NFL seasons, he has 798 receptions, 11,098 receiving yards, and 82 receiving touchdowns to his name, all numbers that are expected to increase before Hill decides to hang up his cleats.
